BTTF 2017 : Scoobus wins World Series (1 Viewer)

I think WHIP is important as well.
True but WHIP is a composite of OAV and BB/9.   Back when I used to care, I saw something on the :nerd:  boards that said the sim handled walk and strikeout events first before calculating batted ball events.

ETA:  I suspect the sim doesn't take the pitcher into consideration when handling XBHs other than HR's because there's no data for old time pitchers.

Elite ERA+ can turn HRs into doubles.
I thought that only held true for low HR/9 pitchers.  HR negative ballparks also can change homers into non-HR hits.

The reason I'm skeptical about ERA is because relievers with good ERC (FIP) but poor ERA seem to do alright in the sim.   Tim Spooneybarger 2002 is the poster child for this (ETA+ 105, ERC+ 274).

:nerd:

I'm glad I did this draft.  I haven't done any research yet since my home league :deadbanana: so I just plan to wing it this year.  This draft won't allow it.

5.14 Kyle Schwarber
This is a big risk/reward pick. I was going to take him with my last pick but decided to wait till my next two. If he catches enough games and plays LF the rest of the time you fill get a full-time catcher with a very good bat. If he doesn't catch then you will get a nice bat but a defensive liability in left field. The Cubs still haven't commented on whether or not he will catch this year on his surgically repaired knee. With both Wilson Contreras and Miguel Montero on the roster there isn't exactly a need for him to catch.

Yeah I don't see him catching.  Still doesn't mean it was a bad pick, especially if he mashes like he's capable.

Oh, I don't tank it's a bad pick at all. I almost took him. That whole Cubs team with the exception of Rizzo and Bryant scares me. Mad don likes to platoon so much that I worry about if guys will play a full seasons worth of games. But I live Schwarber. I just took Andrus instead because I always have a big turd at SS and this year I wanted to try something different. Between Triut and Andrus I have elite level defense ams a really good too of the lineup at 1 and 2.

After waiting so long, going with a guy with a higher upside/higher complete bust potential.

5.16 Sonny Gray

As a Ranger fan I hope you're right, but Elvis has had several seasons that would qualify him as a big turd before.

I hope I am right too. I just hope last year was a growth year. He had a .362 OBP with elite defense. Even if he regressed a little to .350 I would be happy because of his base stealing ability and elite defense.

fingers crossed.

For the newbies, you think it's getting a little tough now? Imaging 20 rounds from now.  then realize there's 25 MORE rounds after that.

How's your short list doin?

Looked at him, but I just can't stomach a Rockies pitcher.  Not after the Jhoulys Chacin/Jeremy Guthrie year. :X

That's the tricky part. I think it will mostly be full games if he plays those positions. Either way, I think his bat is probably the best available at this point.
I went back and forth between he and Braun

Last year, through pick 116, there had been 54 pitchers drafted and 62 hitters drafted.

This year, through pick 116, there have been 54 pitchers drafted and 62 hitters drafted.

At least we are consistent.
