BTTF 2017 : Scoobus wins World Series (1 Viewer)

WIS B2TF 2017 Running Robots

C - Mike Zunino, Derek Norris, Manny Pina, Zack Collins

My goal going in was to wait and get Zunino after the bulk of Cs had been taken.  I like his pop and the gains he made last year.  PT shouldn't be an issue since they're committed to him playing in SEA with just Chooch as his back-up.  Thought I had made a minor coupe getting Norris, but then they signed Wieters and that was blown to ####.  Hopefully gets enough PAs to be a competent back-up.  Pina and Collins are fliers.  Pina has a path to playing time with an unsettled situation in Milwaukee and put up good number in the minors the last couple years.  Collins could do a Schwarber-esque move up the ladder to get some ABs in the bigs this year.  Maybe even enough at C to qualify.

1B - Miguel Cabrera, David Freese, Sam Travis

Miggy is Miggy and the anchor of my offense.  Keep raking!  Freese should see enough ABs at 1B and 3B in PIT to be a useful back-up in the SIM.  Travis is a lottery ticket that could see time if Moreland sucks or is hurt and Travis forces the issue.

2B - Starlin Castro, Carlos Asuaje, bunch of SS guys

I loved the value of Castro where I got him.  Asuaje has a decent shot at PT in San Diego with a couple JAGs in front of him.  Good numbers in AAA should warrant a call-up.  I can fill in with Orlando Arcia here (or one of my other SS fliers) as a back-up in the SIM.

3B - Alex Bregman, David Freese, Christian Arroyo, bunch of SS guys

I'm a big fan of Bregman and his skills.  Pulled the trigger early to secure him.  Freese should be a good back-up here.  Arroyo has the potential to come up in SF and get some ABs this year.  SS guys having the ability to fill in as needed in the SIM.

SS - Dansby Swanson, Orlando Arcia, Franklin Barreto, Ahmed Rosario, Gleyber Torres

Secured two starting SS.  See Swanson as the favorite for NL rookie of the year.  Good skills.  Arcia is nice cover in case Swanson flops.  Can back-up 2B as well or be used as trade bait.  Took several fliers on top SS prospects.  Decent chance one of them hits this year and becomes useful.

OF - Andrew Benintendi, Tyler Naquin, Domingo Santana, Manuel Margot, Rajai Davis, Clint Frazier, Harrison Bader

Kept the young hitters theme going in the OF.  Picking Naquin was an early regret as I outlined at the time, but I hedged that with Margot and Davis.  Like the upside here and have the ability to trade to fill holes if all of them hit.

SP - Justin Verlander, Marcus Stroman, Jonathan Gray, Michael Foltynewicz, CC Sabathia, Wily Peralta, Jesse Chavez, James Kaprielian, Brent Honeywell, Andrew Moore, Braden Shipley, Rob Whalen, Mitch Keller

Invested heavily in SP both initially and for depth.  Like the mix of my top 5 and the potential for trade pieces in the others.  Went heavier than normal here with several prospect fliers.  Hoping to have depth to deal to fill other areas of need.

RP - Roberto Osuna, Brett Cecil, Juan Nicasio, Matt Strahm, Xavier Cedeno, Zach McAllister, A.J. Schugel, Joe Jimenez, Albert Suarez, Jeanmar Gomez, Thyago Vieira, Edgar Santana, Jared Miller

Also invested heavily in RP.  Got 9 guys that should have jobs out of spring training and another 4 with good skill profiles and the opportunity for jobs during the year if not immediately.  Hopefully have depth here as well to deal for needs for improvements.

Overall, I ended up with a 27 pitcher-23 hitter split.  I was at 23-23 and then spent my last 4 picks on pitchers.  Mostly liked the potential there better than the hitters remaining.  Should be fun to track during the year!!!

THE OFFICIAL THAT'S AN INTERESTING NAME LOW-STARS!!!!!!!!!!1111

Catcher - Travis D'Arnaud, and the pu pu platter Angels C (otherwise known as Martin Maldonado, Carlos Perez, Taylor Ward, Tony Sanchez)

When you have the opportunity to lock down the Angels catching position, it's hard to turn down

1B - Greg Bird, Tommy Joseph, Logan Morrison, Casey Gillaspie,

A pu-pu platter of hurt, no goodness, and opportunity.  Don't let me down guys.

2B - Joe Panik, Chase Utley, Anthony Santander

Panik is my favorite name in beisbol and when you have a chance to take a rule 5 guy in the 50th round, well you take it since he will get ABs if he sticks.

SS - Franciso Lindor, Adeiny Hechavarria, Nick Ahmed, Orlando Calixte

2 starters, 1 who is actually good

3B - Jung-ho Kang, David Wright, Giovanny Urshela, Kaleb Cowart

When you have the opportunity to take a drunken Asian you take it.

OF - Kevin Keirmaier, Byron Buxton, Aaron Judge, Alex Dickerson, Guillermo Heredia, Jake Marisnick, Adam Walker,

Or as i like to think of it one guy that might hit and a bunch of CFs

SP - Carlos Carrasco, Michael Pineda, Jake odorizzi, Marco Estrada, Bartolo Colon, Archie Bradley, Tyler Chatwood, Jake Peavy, Henderson Alvarez, Nate Smith, Mike Mayers, Luis Castillo

I never have enough GS or IPs.  I probably still don't

RP - Jeurys Familia, Will Smith, Blake Teirnen, Trevor May, Arodys Vizcaino, Joakim Soria, Chaz Roe, Enny Romero, Aaron Loup, James Pazos, Josh Osich

They pitch, probably not well, and at low duration.

Well, from what I'm seeing from these write-ups is that no one is really IN LOVE with their teams. Lots of caveats, maybes, "need 'em healthy", etc.

I think that means the house did a good job, collectively, with this draft. Everyone walked away feeling some disappointment somewhere.

Dear Nerds,

Opening available in FBG Board Elite Uber Leeg - A 4 sport dynasty leeg.  We need an owner to take a team and details can be provided as far as money (I think entry is 200-), payoots, players, rules.  Many teams have multiple owners that handle a specific sport or sports.  Some run teams on their own.  Leeg is aboot 10 years old.  You can trade draft picks, intra sport, etc.

Please PM myself and join the ranks of myself, zilla, tre, kraft, rudnicki, dd, rene, brasky, Britney spears, fro, frost, thorn just to name a few.  our 'season' starts with bases, so we need someone quickly.

tia

Care to post this disaster of a team? FYI, I was part owner in the inaugural season. I think that's why I was so excited to see the first hockey game back as I had someone on the Habs going... and that was the reason TU and I met up for the first time.

Does/did the league have college football or was that something else. Could have sworn at some point I had a college running back named Jamaal Charles and a couple guys from North Texas or something.

Whatever happened to Mr Jimmy?

Yeah he definitely still runs Hockey and possibly baseball for IHSV
I used to do baseball and basketball for that team.  When I bailed I was going to help with transitioning to the new guy for the hoops entry draft.  When our 1st came up, I wanted rookie Steph Curry but the new guy picked Courtney Lee instead :bag:

knicks wanted curry, but got Jordan hill right after him!

31st round pick Tommy Pham optioned to AAA!

44th round pick Richard Bleier to AAA!

45th round pick Renato Nunez to AAA!

46th round pick Gorkys Hernandez "a lock" to make the major league roster!

48th round pick Kevan Smith to AAA and off 40-man roster!

49th round pick Jon Niese released!

Also this:

Chris Heisey estimates that he lost 15 to 20 pounds this offseason.
Nationals manager Dusty Baker apparently noticed an immediate difference when Heisey reported to camp. "The second I walked in his office, he goes, ‘Dang, you look good!’ "

Shae Simmons, the reliever with the porn star name, is having forearm ouchies.

Bruce Maxwell sent to AAA.

But hey, Raul Mondesi is starting at 2B for the Royals.

Chicago White Sox likely starting CF on opening day....not drafted!!!  Jacob May??

Got it re-activated today.  Will try to input rosters this week.
Can you use some assistance? It seems like a time-consuming task.

Thought for 2018: Can we operate the WTTF drafts within FanTrax, so that when we're done drafting, the rosters are already input? Or still do the draft here on FBGs, but use a FanTrax draft as the record-keeping entity (instead of a Google spreadsheet)?

Assistance would be great.  I'll grant you commish controls to help out!

Ah, OK.

I am not starting right this second, either. When I am in and entering teams, I will post which ones in this thread.

Or is that even necessary? I guess if you open up a team in FanTrax, and see that they already have some players entered, safe to assume someone else is working on that squad.

Gah ... what is up with the Google Doc? Can't remove the filter on Sammy's name ... can't see other rosters.

EDIT: Never mind ... got it.

Just put in cheese's entire squad under ChemX's name   :wall:  Trying to see if I can move the roster to another owner.

OK ... six teams out of 24 are in: Arsenal, Bogart, cheese, ChemX, cosjobs, and mine.

...

Cosjobs ... FanTrax doesn't seem to have David Ortiz or Takayuki Kishi available to place on your team. You've got 48 players.

Eight teams out of 24 are in: Arsenal, Bogart, cheese, ChemX, cosjobs, mine, Doctor Detroit, and Eephus.

I have to stop for now ... might be able to pick up some more later this evening.

ChemX
cosjobs
Doug B
Doctor Detroit
Eephus
Frostillicus

jfranco
Koya

Going to be tied up for most of the rest of today. Any other commishes ready to jump in? Takes about 15 min to get one team entered ... maybe more like 12-13 minutes when you get into a groove.

Also: please double-check your rosters. I've caught myself in a few mistakes and gotten them corrected ... but I can't be sure I've caught everything.

Holy crap dude, that is a lot of work.  I get down to the NOLA area once a year or so, I owe you some beers from all of us for this.  That would make me :X

And now ... for some reason, I am having trouble with FanTrax's site. Maybe it's getting overloaded with a bunch of people entering rosters. I can only get a name or two entered before it starts timing out. Stuck about 20 players deep into Oso's roster. :kicksrock:

Oso, I hope that SD pitcher "Walker Woodruff" from the Googlesheet is the same guy as SD pitcher "Andrew Woodruff". I gave you Andrew.
