**Bucs at Lions** (-7.5, 51.5) 1:00 (1 Viewer)

Lions 463 yards in offense compared to 216 yards for Bucs.
Frustrating loss.

The Lions moved the ball OK, the problem was once they got inside the 20, they stopped. The turnovers did not help. Surely we had to have a few good LaPorta matchups we could have taken advantage of.

Nice win for the good guys today, especially given the injuries on defense. I still say the Lions win in spite of Campbell, not because of him. That is a talented team.

Also, for those asking about White, they did say earlier in the game he was dealing with a groin injury today.

That was an odd second half. Outside of the Baker TD run drive the Bucs barely had the ball.

Bowles didn’t blitz today. He made Goff dink and dunk and he made some mistakes.

Solid plan from Bowles and the D today with so many injuries. Really impressive performance.

Felt like a signature win from a team starting to believe.

Detroit moved the ball in the red zone SEVEN times and could only manage 16 points. That is pathetic. Almost eight times counting the last drive where they had 1st and 10 on the 26. Lions dominated the Bucs between the 20s, but could not crack the Bucs once inside. The first INT was a horrific non-call which there was no excuse for how tge refs missed it, but the Lions need to be good enough to overcome bad breaks and they missed a ton of opportunities.

I figured that would get brought up. On the second to last possession Davis mugged McMillan right at the point of attack on the 3rd down play in the 4th quarter and there was no call there either. Would have likely ended the Lions chances with a first down and the ball around the 50. Instead they got two more attempts to take the lead and still couldn't beat Bowles' D.

I'd also have to look at the play again, but I believe they do not call PI when the defender has established position and the receiver runs through the defensive player, which happened on the play.

Either way, that's not why the Lions lost the game.

One of my favorite reads Scott Pianowski said with the Lions out gaining the Bucs 463 to 216 that you have to try real hard to blow a game that.

If this was the case IDK why the Lions didn’t just spam run the ball instead of passing, and wear the defense down, keeping the Bucs off the field. They got their rocks off on longer plays or spamming targets to ARSB but that is losing formula for Lions team apparently.

>>One more note on Bucs’ win in Detroit. Lions had 463 yards of total offense and only 16 points. Last time any NFL team got so few points from so many yards was 2019 - Raiders had 477 in a 16-15 loss at Denver. Before that? Bucs had 501 in a 16-3 loss to Washington in 2018.<<

Fitzpatrick generated 501 yards of offense and only 3 points!

They basically did do this. Just once they got in the red zone Goff either didn't have options or chose not to throw the ball in the end zone. I couldn't believe they didn't dial something up for LaPorta. The Lions' WRs are small. Tampa was running exclusively zone without blitzing so the rub picks and man beaters they do to get those guys open weren't going to work.

The RB tosses and screens were head scratchers too. Should have just been trying to run Montgomery down hill with Vea out.

The defended did not hold his position. The defender grabbed Jamo from behind as he made his cut and tried to take him down. He was probably hoping for just a holding call, but since Goff had already thrown the ball it was a clear PI that the refs somehow missed. The defender knew he had help deep, but did not have help to the inside. Jamo would have taken that to the house had he not been taken down.

Izien is shading in his zone. He’s not even looking at Williams. He’s looking at Goff. Williams runs into him.

Watch it again and scrub to the impact point. Williams rounds his route outside Izien anyway. It’s probably designed to cross his face. Bad route. Bad throw.

Lol..what are you looking at???? Seriously. The guy started at the 38, as Jamo goes by him he is moving back to the 39. Then when Jamo cuts he has his arms around him at the 41 and Jamo's jersey is still being pulled as Jamo is moving away. That is a complete mug job.

I guess it’s a matter of perspective? I see Williams initiate contact with Izien as they enter the same space. And lulz at him “taking it to the house.” He’s barely in the area of the ball and there are three defenders there. He ran a bad route and it got picked.

Also, what’s the point of complaining about calls?

You trimmed my post pointing out McMillan was grabbed twice at the catch point on a huge 3rd down that would have ended the game. No flag.

ARSB clearly fumbled after two feet down and a turn upfield that had the refs let it play out would have been a defensive TD. Went Detroit’s way though when they blew it dead and Bowles didn’t challenge.

How many gifts you want? Go get em next week.

Officiating assignment: Clay Martin’s crew. He officiated two Lions games in 2023, including the team’s 20-6 win over Tampa Bay in Week 6.

Last meeting: The Lions beat the Buccaneers, 31-23, in the Divisional Round of last year’s playoffs.

Where is Bobby? I can handle the titles..Bobby breaks it down.
