Butch Trucks - RIP (1 Viewer)

Big fan. That sucks.

Fwiw, I definitely give the nod to Billy/Mickey, but Butch and Jaimoe were badass. Can do without Quinones.

RIP...

"[By the time of the Fillmore East show], we decided, 'OK, we don't care if we don't make any money. We're having the time of our lives,'" he continued. "Little by little, people started understanding what we were doing. But it had to start with us. Once the crowd got in and we could feed on their energy, we'd feed it back to them."

Sad. Saw the allmans somewhere around fifteen times. Allman's were always so so tight. Butch was the backbone.

PI stopped counting after my 30th allmans show, probably saw them upwards of 50 times.  So many great nights under the stars or in a smoky Beacon theatre. Gregg could he hit or miss, dickey could Be in a mood and despite the musicianship being there the soul was gone when warren stepped out.   But butch and Jaimie were bedrock and never had a bad night.

I never met butch and I'm grateful for his music but I've heard he was a mixed bag on the business end. Moogis, the jam band streaming service,  was by all accounts a mess, to be kind.  But it seems like butch did do a good job herding cats keeping the band going.

You never want to see anyone kill themselves over money but it's strange butch has been poo pooing the recent reunion rumors, , citing his certainly shaky health. One last summer with dickey would have made butch while I think.
