Cadillac Williams allegedly has Herniated Disks per blog site (1 Viewer)

I read that Cadillac Williams was acctually playing with 3 herniated disks last season but they don't require surgery.

Man thats unbelievable, I work in a clinic and we have a couple of patients who have herniated discs in their back and they are totally disabled. He must have an incredibly high pain tolerance.
Not all herniations are the same. Some are large, some are small. You can have a herniation and have no pain whatsoever ...

This is old stuff and was much discussed on this board last year. The Bucs denied it. Williams denied it.

It ain't necessarily true just because Juiced Sports Blog says it's so. They quote: "As Matthew Riggs-Stites, a source close to Buccaneers team doctor Joeseph Diaco confided, those back spasms were really herniated disks." Who is this Matthew Riggs-Stites and why would the team and Williams lie about it? Why is Juiced Sports Blog the people who get this great scoop a year later?

By the way, the next article on Juiced Sports Blog is "Buccaneers Coach Jon Gruden Knows He's Gone"

I for one am not going to get excited over this.

Will Carroll also suggested that this was the case last year. Carroll has a ton of "cred" when it comes to injuries.

I have 3 herniated discs and once I stretch in the morning they are a non-issue. I don't get tackled by monsters, but I'm just saying....I ain't disabled. Obviously there are different levels.

I already percieved Williams to be somewhat of an injury risk anyway. Does anyone think Darby is worth a pick up in a dynasty league? Does he have a good chance to move to 2nd on the depth chart behind Caddy?

I have (actuall had) one that bulged riht no the sciatic (sp?) nerve. Out of work for 6 months initially then agony at work for 4 years. Finally couldn't take it anymore and had it removed and the vertebrae fused about six weeks ago. Another 5 months out of work. My dad has 3 bad discs and keeps going. I couldn't sit down for more thn 45 minutes and he had no probs sitting, just with standing. Just all depends. I took tons of therapy, supplements, painkillers and radical diet changes and I still would hurt if I had to jog across a crosswalk when the Don't Walk started flashing. Now with my age, type of injury and otherwise great health I am expected to be 100% before teh injury. After the bones mesh. A disc bulge that doesn't hurt now may killl you down the line with the degeneration and it's effects on other discs, but if the bulge isn't pressing into a nerve you'll be fine (ish).

Only if he learns how to hit the hole....which is pretty important in determining the success of an NFL RB. In his senior year at Alabama, Darby juked, danced and pirouetted to 54 carries for a loss with only 210 carries total. Some of his game-by-game performances were quite revealing, like a 1.6 YPC vs. Hawaii, 3.1 vs. Vanderbilt, 2.5 vs. Arkansas, 1.9 vs. Tennessee....all with over 15 carries/game....you get where I'm going here. His season YPC total was skewed to a large degree by his games against sub-par teams like Louisiana-Monroe, Duke and Ole Miss.

Some of us were wondering if he would even be drafted...and this is a guy who was gunning for Shaun Alexander's career rushing record in his senior year.

I'm not saying he's trash, just don't set expectations too high for this promising star turned 7th round pick.

So basically it comes down to whether you trust the team and player or some blogger.
dude. it was posted on the INTERNET. i think we both know that means it's pretty much indisputable, case-closed, no room for error. That said, Cadillac looked terrible last year despite the teams woes. Gruden praised him then as well.

Nice logic there. So I guess you believe everything you read on the INTERNET. BTW, how long have you watched football?

I think you need to adjust your sarcasm meter.

I think you should keep your comments to yourself that don't contribute quality info to a thread.

calm down.cadillac williams DID look atrocious last year, and Gruden still praised him. cadillac averaged UNDER 3 yards per game in EIGHT games last year (he only played in 14). when pittman took over in the two games cadillac missed, he had averages of 5.4 and 6.1 ypc. something ain't right in caddie-ville. and Gruden is, for whatever reason, enamored so much with him that you can take his comments with a grain of salt.

This does not pass the logic test....If this was true would they have gone with Gaines Adams with the 4th overall pick or taken Peterson? Even if they decided they needed the DE filled- wouldn't they have looked at a back with a high or mid round pick? Or even in free agency going after someone to bring in? They really made no real significant move- Darby in the 7th as a draft pick and BJ Askew as a free agent signing. To me, the lack of movement on the Buc's side shows that either A) This is a frabrication B) The team feels it has healed C) They are very comfortable with Pittman backing the damaged goods of Williams.

None of those options seem reasonable to me.

Greeeeaaat.... This thread reminds me of my scoliosis and I believe I have somewhat of a slipped disc in my upper back that makes my whole upper back tingle at the right angle leaning at a desk...plus an extremely tight lower right side... 25yrs old.... bright future I see...

Just Joined a Flag Football team lol

seriously, no joking here: you sound like you should see a chiropractor. they are great at lining up the bones in the spine, which takes pressure off of the nervous system (ie. spinal cord) , allowing your body to work the way it should again.

Wow...way to completely miss the scarcasm...

I don't trust either. We all know false information can proliferate on Internet, but we also know that teams routinely misrepresent the nature and seriousness of injuries.

For those who missed the other thread, I just want to point out that the article the OP "read" on that blog was actually written by the OP. It's his blog. He's just trying to direct traffic to his own site, and has done this a couple of times. As if you needed any more reason to completely disregard this "article"... :lmao:

Wow that seems to me to be solid ground for a banning or at least a timeout.
