Yes they both suck. Caldwell was supposed to help Stafford improve but he's worse than ever.Sample sizeCaldwell is 1-7 against teams with a winning record since he took over as Lions HC.

While I agree this is a big stat, the whole "record vs winning teams" thing is overblown. There are very few NFL teams that have winning records vs teams with winning records. Usually if you're a good team (or even a bad one), your wins come vs teams without good records.WowSample sizeCaldwell is 1-7 against teams with a winning record since he took over as Lions HC.

Yes it demonstrates the quality of the wins. The Lions had the same 11-5 record as Indy in 2014 but only 1 win against a team with a winning record. While I agree this is a big stat, the whole "record vs winning teams" thing is overblown. Look at Indy last year. Great team, went 11-5. They were 4-6 vs teams with winning records. Packers at 12-4 on the season were only 3-3 vs teams with winning records. And these were good division winning teams. If you look at the .500 teams, they usually have brutal records vs winning teams.WowSample sizeStafford is 3-35 against winning teamsCaldwell is 1-7 against teams with a winning record since he took over as Lions HC.

There is a difference between around .500 and losing 90 percent of your games against winning teams.Deamon said:While I agree this is a big stat, the whole "record vs winning teams" thing is overblown. He pretty much sucks with a big arm. I'm not 100% positive but I think he really has no dedication to preparation, film study, etc. That Stafford stat is just stunning.
Yeah Stafford isn't very good and Ebron can't seem to catch a cold.He pretty much sucks with a big arm. I'm not 100% positive but I think he really has no dedication to preparation, film study, etc. That Stafford stat is just stunning.
Yeah burned and left for dead with 5 million per year for the two years left on his contract. Tough to take.Still an upgrade over Schwartz whose teams were ill-prepared, penalty prone, and just plane bad most weeks. He squeaked out a four win season in 2012 that included seven one score losses with a team that should have competed for a Super Bowl.
I don't think the personnel is all that great on defense and Stafford has regressed since 2011. Lions are gonna do Lions things, having a terrible coach is their MO. Ask yourself this: when was the last time a former Lions coach became an NFL head coach again? Monte Clark, Darryl Rogers, Steve Mariucci, Marty Mornhinwig, Wayne Fontes, etc.
It is the last job you'll get leading an NFL team, even up and comers like Mariucci got burned out and left for dead after the Lions. A lot of it is ownership and team management, but a lot of it is just the black cloud hanging over the franchise. I'd like to think it will change, but I really don't see it.
same old lions
Sad but true.Grew up in Detroit as a Lions fan. Since that time I've lived in Chiefs country and now in Panthers country. Having seen competent front offices and actually GOOD coaches, it's easier for me to be done with the Lions. Pathetic franchise. I would like to see them succeed, but won't count on it during Ford's lifetime.Fixed, and now it fits just about everything the Lion's have done in my 25+ years of following them. I really wish I was one of those guys that can just abandon the home team and root for someone else, the years upon years of piss poor decisions are really wearing me down.how can the whole world see this is a terrible hire decision, yet the lions went ahead and did it anyway. Sheesh
You are right he is progressing ...I just wasn't happy with that key drop last nightBobbyLayne said:YTD Ebron is TE7 this year. 20 targets, 13-157-2. Had 1 drop last night and dropped the first ball thrown his way this year.
Not projecting a break out just yet but there is no denying the progression from last year.

Should but won't. The Fords are cheap.Down by 28 points with 11:00 left in the game, Jim Caldwell elects to kick a FG on 4th & 10 from the 22.
That should just about do it.

They won't. Not until Ford admits he doesn't know what the heck he's doing and grudgingly takes his clammy hands off the steering wheel. Why would any qualified GM or coach come to this organization? It's where careers go to die.
This is what AZ had to do too, old man Bidwill was terrible but once his son took over things changed quicklyThey won't. You and every Calvin owner. Maybe they will ask him to restructure and he says 'no'. I know I would. Right now he is getting the Barry Sanders treatment. Surrounded and coached by garbage.I wish they'd trade Calvin before he falls completely off the cliff physically. Class guy and a good soldier. I'd love to see him get a ring.
My team stinks in the one league where I own Calvin. Fantasy football honestly had nothing to do with the comment. You and every Calvin owner. Maybe they will ask him to restructure and he says 'no'. You can cry equally when the Lions win again. So it might be a while.can cleveland & washington fans cry with yall about awful owners
none of these teams will be relevant until they get someone competent at the very top, period.
Jr isn't running the teamExactly--we need a Bobby Beathard, a Ron Wolf, a Bill Polian, a guy with proven GM credentials to come in and rebuild this entire operation from top to bottom.
Maybe--and I'm just spitballing here--it's time for the Lions to stop trusting Bill Ford Jr's football instincts and franchise building skills. Just a thought.

What's the current market for a 30 year old receiver who will make $16M next year and increase to $18M at the age of 34?I wish they'd trade Calvin before he falls completely off the cliff physically. Class guy and a good soldier. I'd love to see him get a ring.
I laughed when I read the article. It's so perfect. A 90 woman who was nowhere to be seen for the past 60 years is suddenly in charge of the Lions. A woman of her means and stature likely spent the past 60 years having tea and biscuits on Sunday's. If it weren't so Lions, I'd be upset. If Bill Ford Jr told me that the sky was blue, I'd stick my head out the window to verify. And on the off chance that he was actually being truthful and isn't running things behind the scenes, the fact that Mrs. Ford is the one making these decisions doesn't exactly set my mind at ease about the direction of the franchise, given that WCF and Russ Thomas likely taught her all that she knows.Jr isn't running the teamhttp://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/nfl/lions/2015/10/09/ford-jr-martha-absolutely-in-charge-of-lions/73686600/Exactly--we need a Bobby Beathard, a Ron Wolf, a Bill Polian, a guy with proven GM credentials to come in and rebuild this entire operation from top to bottom.

Nice Yzerman pic, though.
