Lol, exactly. When WCF was in charge, we barely knew there *was* a Martha. Now she's suddenly supposed to be Georgia Frontiere.I laughed when I read the article. It's so perfect. A 90 woman who was nowhere to be seen for the past 60 years is suddenly in charge of the Lions. A woman of her means and stature likely spent the past 60 years having tea and biscuits on Sunday's. If it weren't so Lions, I'd be upset. Today was likely one of the last warm sunny days in Michigan for the foreseeable future...I turned off the game mid 2nd quarter and spent the rest of the day outside. It was liberating. I won't watch another Lions game the rest of this season. Until something changes I won't give this team another moment of my time.If Bill Ford Jr told me that the sky was blue, I'd stick my head out the window to verify. And on the off chance that he was actually being truthful and isn't running things behind the scenes, the fact that Mrs. Ford is the one making these decisions doesn't exactly set my mind at ease about the direction of the franchise, given that WCF and Russ Thomas likely taught her all that she knows.Jr isn't running the teamhttp://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/nfl/lions/2015/10/09/ford-jr-martha-absolutely-in-charge-of-lions/73686600/Exactly--we need a Bobby Beathard, a Ron Wolf, a Bill Polian, a guy with proven GM credentials to come in and rebuild this entire operation from top to bottom.
Maybe--and I'm just spitballing here--it's time for the Lions to stop trusting Bill Ford Jr's football instincts and franchise building skills. Just a thought.
Nice Yzerman pic, though.
What bothers me most about Jr is what a front runner he is. When he vastly overestimated the Lions talent in the mid to late 90s and (mistakenly) thought that they were somehow on the verge of a Super Bowl with Scott Mitchell at the helm, you couldn't see enough pictures of the guy around the team and couldn't read enough of his goofy quotes. But when it became apparent that changing the font of the jersey numbers and hiring an ex-broadcaster to run the team wasn't going to be enough, suddenly he was devoting more time to his real passion in life: the auto industry.
Oh well: at least we'll always have the Wings in D-Town. Wish we still had Stevie Y and Bowman, though.
