Cameron Wake (1 Viewer)

The Dolphins linebacker had 6 tackles and 3 sacks against the Bills.Thoughts on this guy?
He was an absolute beast when he played in the CFL. Now he is more of a reserve with the Dolphins. He is definitely a work in progress because his run defense isn't quite up to standards yet. His forte is rushing the QB and against the Bills' makeshift O-line he looked great. It also helped that the Fins had a huge lead, so Edwards was dropping back to pass most of the game. Remember also that Joey Porter sat out this week, when Porter returns to the lineup Wake will return to the bench on most downs.

Is Porter going to be back in for the next game?
Just read that Porter isn't practicing today.
That's a valid point that Porter might not play this week, but remember the Dolphins aren't rushing the sorry excuse for an O-line the Bills trot out each week. They face the Jets' strong O-line this week, so temper your expectations for Wake.

MIAMI — He came from the left. He came from the right. He came from the CFL.

On Sunday, Cameron Wake kept winding up in the Buffalo Bills' backfield.

The 27-year-old rookie sacked Trent Edwards three times to help the Miami Dolphins earn their first win of the season by beating the Bills 38-10.

Wake signed with the Dolphins in January after totalling 39 sacks in two seasons with the B.C. Lions. He didn't play in Miami's first two games and saw limited action a week ago.

But with pass rusher Joey Porter out, the Dolphins turned Wake loose.

"I've been waiting a long time for this," Wake said. "It has been a long road to get to the NFL. To go out there and get my first NFL sack and to win the game, you can't ask for much more than that."

Playing as a linebacker in nickel and dime packages, Wake was part of a defensive charge that totalled six sacks, came up with three interceptions and limited the Bills to 46 yards rushing. He turned out to be a spectacular replacement for Porter, slowed by a sore hamstring that forced him to miss a game for only the seventh time in his 11-year career.

"One of our leaders was down ... one of our fallen soldiers," Wake said.

Even with Porter, Miami's pass rush had been spotty in the first three games, all losses. But the Bills had trouble blocking the Dolphins - especially Wake.

"That's what you lie in bed at night dreaming about - coming around the corner and hitting the quarterback," he said. "I've been waiting years for that. It's impossible to describe the feeling."

Wake had the game's first sack on the opening series, forcing a fumble that the Bills recovered. He added two later sacks and also tackled Marshawn Lynch for four-yard losses twice.

Jason Taylor added two sacks and Randy Starks one.

The Dolphins moved Wake around, lining him up on both sides opposite Taylor.

"That's why they brought him in - to get pressure off the edge," Bills tackle Kirk Chambers said. "He has incredible speed."

Miami coach Tony Sparano described Wake's performance as "validation." The Dolphins led from early in the second quarter and used five or six defensive backs much of the game, with Wake part of those packages.

"The kid showed what he's got," Taylor said. "I've been around a long time, and he does things that amaze me."

The guy is a ridiculous athlete. With the right coaches and scheme this guy has a chance to be a double digit sack guy in the next few seasons.

Here is a clip of him showing off his vertical.

If you have time watch this one. It talks about his path into the league. It also explains that last clip I posted about Wake jumping up and grabbing that money that was on the ceiling. He did not just touch the ceiling a teamate had climbed a latter to stick it up there to see if anyone could get it. Apparently no one was close and then Wake did it. The guy has freakish talent.

The problem is that in my league we get 6 points for a sack and only 1 point for touching the ceiling

Any bonus points for "raising the roof"?

According to Espn, Porter practiced with first team Thursday.

What will Wake's role be with Porter back? Looks like he played got in for 8 rushes in week 3, with no pressures. Similar, or bigger role?

I think he's earned a bigger role, but Porter and Taylor are likely to get the majority of the high leverage snaps. If Porter is healthy enough, I'd be surprised if Wake approach 50% of the snaps unless the game gets out of hand.

It only took him year 2 to get to double digit sacks. This guy really does have freakish athleticism and is a nightmare to handle 1 on 1.
