His column has been useless all year, he doesn't mention Chaney in his waivers and he's missed on stuff like this all year.

sorry. I mentioned the Bradley injury but probably should have upgraded Chaney, especially given the matchup against the Giants this week.

there's usually not a ton of info available late Sunday night, early Monday morning as most injuries are still being evaluated and backup plans worked out. Tough to catch everything but I do try not to miss important stuff like this.

To the OP: What's the point in calling out one of the site moderators on a topic such as this? Are you really complaining that you didn't pick up or start Chaney because Rudnicki didn't mention him? Come on. The best part of fantasy football is managing your own lineup. Do your own research and make your own decisions. Your team is yours, it isn't Rudnicki's, or Jene's or anyone else's. Chaney had zero track record so there isn't anything that Rudnicki is going to tell you that you didn't already know- which is that Chaney is the starting MLB for Philly. Do you think a brand new starting MLB is worth a WW pickup? The answer in almost every scenario (unless you have several top 10 LB'er) is undeniably yes. Much about fantasy football (especially IDP) is more about opportunity rather than skill. Chaney got the opportunity, you make the call to start him. No one here (including Rudnicki or Jene) was going to be able to predict that Chaney was going to get a 12-4-0 line. Most of you guys will start Chaney this week and be pissed about him going 2-4-0 next week. Bottom line, what would you have wanted Rudnicki to do? Just mention Chaney's name? That seems a little rhetorical to me. If you never heard of him until today, then you need to get a little more involved. If you just wanted to call out Rudnicki for not mentioning his name, then you need to get a life.

I agree totally, if you can't think for yourself then you shouldn't be playing. I belong to another site and the IDP guy there has been saying all week to sit Mayo this week, sure glad I chose to make that call myself or i would of missed out on a Superbowl opportunity. They are stating an opinion, not making your lineup decisions for you.

The point is so they can improve. A young guy on every redraft waiver wire that steps into a MLB role vs. the Giants needed to be mentioned. The column he writes is for players EXACTLY like Chaney. We pay for the product, and we get to offer criticism. You tell him to do his own research? Isn't a strategy article part of research?I must have missed the part where the OP was saying he based all his decisions, or any of them in fact, on the staff's articles/recommendations.

I certainly welcome and appreciate any and all constructive criticism people may have to offer for improving the weekly article. I'll regroup in the offseason and likely start looking for ways/methods to make it better.

It's always tough to know how deep to go with things like this as some leagues only start a single IDP, some start a handful, and some may start as many as 11. Therefore, some guys might be everyweek starters in one league but available on the waiver wire somewhere else. I try to do a quick recap of what happened in the week while also looking at players who are rising or falling over the past 3+ weeks as well to try and avoid getting over-excited about what may be a fluke game. I try to watch every game, but usually don't finish getting through them until midweek which is well past the deadline for that week's article. Given the weekly timeline,I generally have to look through the gamebooks for any players or statlines that jump out, look at the stats for any developing trends that are apparent, and basically just scour news reports and recaps of the games. It's a lot to process in less than 24 hours of all the games finishing, but I'm sure I could do a better job.

Anyway, feel free to post here or let me know via email (rudnicki@footballguys.com) if you have any feedback. Thanks.

Each of us very much appreciate comments on our work, especially constructive criticism. However, I don't want to see this thread slip into arguments about how that criticism is delivered. I'll open up another thread for suggestions and comments after the end of the regular season.

Thanks.

I think one thing that is lost in all this is the fact that this article is posted on Monday. That doesn't leave a lot of time to decifer Sunday's happenings, nor much opportunity to dig for information. Its pretty easy to harp on the Chaney thing but the truth is, on Monday I wasn't sure if they would start Chaney or shuffle the lineup somehow and put someone else in there.

We all take what we do very seiously and strive to provide the best content possible. The whole point in having Aaron's article run on Monday is to give some of you a jump on the competition. His piece is basically the first IDP article of the week and we build from there with other articles/content as the week goes on. If we weren't talking about Chaney on Tuesday or Wednesday that would be a problem. We work as a team and break up our topics/assignments to try and cover everything to the best of our ability each week. The things Aaron is writing about on Sunday night (for a Monday post) are probably not going to enlighten everyone but I bet there are a lot of owners out there (in first come waiver leagues for example) who are very happy with Aaron's work. Not so much because it covers everything but because it covers a lot and is available so early.

Its very easy to become short sighted as we get caught up in our own particular needs. Please keep in mind that at FBG we are trying to meet the needs of thousands. After all, one man's trash is another man's treasure you know :)
