Can you negotiate with DirecTV? (3 Viewers)

Is it that hard to visit their web page?  That info is on the first page you see. You suck at this.  Can't wait til you call Dish and they turn you down.
Pretty uncalled for.  I had heard redzone has been temporarily suspended at Dish.  Keep being an ##### though

Does anyone know if Dish has the Redzone channel?  Is it basically the same thing as the Directv redzone channel?   I may have to switch to Dish. 
Believe they do. I know when I had FiOS, I actually preferred the cable version of RedZone more than the DirecTV version.

Deal still works.  Just got offered the $200 gift card and normal big deal 5 minutes ago. I previously scheduled disconnect for Monday but never actually disconnected. 

 
I just called this morning and was told no offers for me at this time.  Confetti:
How is this not resolved? Did you just say ok and hang up? Did you ask them if they want to try to keep you as a customer? Did you say that you were all prepared to switch to Dish but a buddy said he was enticed back with the Perfect Solution?

I understand they didn't have you disconnected correctly like twice in a row, but how about now? What exactly happened? You need to take charge with them and politely guide the conversation. 

 
After being rejected yesterday (one of the guy's quotes was, "not even a $5 discount "),  seeing Noonan's struggles, having to have my account "cancelled" twice, and then seeing everyone else  (except Noonan) have such easy success,  I'm getting a little pissed at DTV.  Do I smell b? Do they just not want my money any more?

I am ready to start looking at Dish or Comcast. Just frustrating.

 
I may do this later, getting root canal right now...
At this point I think Id rather get a root canal than to call them back after the way theyve been giving you the cold shoulder and runaround.

Bottom line is youre disconnected, so youre a new customer, so youre eligible for the deal (or at least A deal), I dont get what the problem is.

Have you tried calling repair to see what status they have you?  Maybe if they confirm that - they can connect you back with a three-way call with retention and get it resolved.  

Meanwhile, they may be putting the finishing touches on your leather zip gimp suit.  

ETA:  Do you keep getting a guy named "Zed" at the retention desk?

When I called earlier this month, the guy in retention told me no Red Zone only offers existed.  I told him I had gotten it as a standalone in the past, and he said they used to offer it, but AT&T informed them they would not be doing that any more.

Called and cancelled. Cancel date 8/22

really interested to see how this plays out. Brand new contract, as of June.  Chick on the phone tried to get me to stay, but offered nothing. I mentioned the big deal, she was shuked. I said, cancel then. We shall see. I'm pretty happy with the above deal. I just want the $200 and STMAX and I really need new equipment.  In that order. :)~
They started calling yesterday. Called twice this morning. I had to take a call as the guy was seeing what he could do..he didn't call back. Hopefully I don't get noonaned now. Although I did miss an 800 number call at 1. 

We we shall see, looks promising though.

Something is missing from his story. Maybe Mr. Pack found the reason.  And as JohnnyRock posted, why not just keep digging and get the answer as to why there are no offers?

His original post says he was offered Sunday ticket and not max. And all calls after that are no offers at all.  That makes no sense.

He's not the only one. I was literally told, "no offers for you".

As long as you and your wife are okay with it, a little lie won't hurt. Have her call in and tell them you divorced and she wants to open a new account in only her name. I mean, that does happen I'm sure and doubtful they question it.

i think i can shed a little more light into noonan's situation.  the yahoo that looked into my account this morning had to activate my account my account from it's "pending cancellation" status.   they have to activate the account to see what deals are available to it.  when i had to hang up on him, he didn't reinstall the cancellation date.   i'm going to assume this kept happening to noonan

soooo, when i called the BIG DEAL number, they told me they can't do anything because my account wasn't "pending cancellation".  he told me to call the yahoo's number back and get the cancellation set up again.

so i called the number that the yahoo called from and actually got reconnected to the same yahoo that f'ed up my cancellation.  he thanked me for calling back because he would have gotten in trouble if i had raised a stink about him changing my status, "permanently" without my approval.  he couldn't do squat.  i made sure the cancellation is in place and i'll call the BIG DEAL number, tomorrow probably.

So, as I said a few days ago, I screwed up and didn't work a deal when I upgraded to Genie with a 2 year plan. I called a couple of times telling them I know people who got the BIG Deal and why wasn't I given something as a 20 year customer. Got a bit of a runaround with some calls but finally today I was offered $45/month off for a year which I was cool with but then she offered Sunday Ticket Max for $35/month, so I took it. Basically $10 off a month for 6 months, then $45/month for the next 6 months. I really just wanted ST, so I'm happy with what I got. Lesson learned.

Rec'd call from (210) area code 96 minutes later.
Offered Big Deal after she asked about viewing habits.
Had her confirm everything and then asked about GC and got approval.

Seems like you guys are not fully cancelling. Don't understand what "pending" cancel is. That was never discussed.

That is exactly what happened to me.  It has been groundhog day the last three days.  I again was told today that tomorrow the big deal will be available.   I don't have my hopes up.  If I get the cold shoulder again Dish will be installing tomorrow.   Good luck!

So why not ask them to change from "pending" to "permanent" status (Whatever the #### that is LOL) before asking for any deals?

 
So at 11am MT this morning....

A friend/client posted on FB to DTV 
When we moved into our new home we were promised Sunday Ticket for free again. I was super excited, who doesnt love watching football?! Got our bill today and what would ya know we had a charge for the sunday ticket...after an hour on the phone there was no resolution. Needless to say its time to look elsewhere for my tv service.

11:15 AM   I call him and tell him not to mention any of this stuff.  Call and cancel, set a date, and get confirmation that boxes are being sent. Only tell them you are switching to DISH.

11:45 AM   Texts and says cancel all set with date next week

6:41 PM (12 minutes ago)  TExt to me : NFL SUNDAY TICKET MAX and $200 GC.

Me: Did they call you?

Him: Wife had been denying the calls because she didn't know who it was..... so they actually called 4 hours ago.

He was paying 40. Went up to 74 Year 2.  Down to 39, plus more channels, plus STMax,  and $200 GC.

I'm now thinking if you call and fully cancel, and say only you are switching to DISH, that you will then get a call pretty damn quick.  All done same day, way before this midnight pending BS

Noonan, just sign up under your wifes name, shouldn't have a problem :oldunsure:

 
A few years ago, I cancelled and went with Time Warner. That lasted all of two weeks. Called back and signed up new. Didn't change the name, address or number.

listen up mofo.  i'm like yoda dealing with DTV and getting sunday ticket max for free, plus extras!    i haven't paid for sunday ticket max for 10+ years.  i kinda didn't give a #### about it this year and took the $60 off for a year, no ST, bringing my bill to a whopping $42/month.  then i got a bug in my ### and decided to play the game.  i set my cancel date for 8/22 for after the olympics, to give some credence to my cancellation and to buy myself a little time.  they called me 6 times in less than 18 hours after i set my cancel date up.  then some yahoo at DTV f'd up my cancellation.  i explained all this.  i reset my cancellation for 8/22.

then..........i decided to call the BIGDEAL # for the 2nd time today and they couldn't do squat without an actual cancellation,  so, i set it for tonight.  it just shut off.  i have the number and name of the dude i'm calling tomorrow morning to see what i'm going to get.  we shall see.  i'll be pissed, if i don't, at the very least, get what i had, back.  but the goal is STMAX and $200 GC with a bill in the $40-$60 range .  

 
Not sure what I did wrong re; being "fully cancelled". Got an email saying I was disconnected before I tried the 855#. After I called them and got ####, I got that email again. So I now have two shutoff dates, I guess.

Still no comeback phone calls or emails that everyone else here got within minutes. Family is ticked with me - no Olympics for the past three days or Bridget Jones's ###hole on Bravo or whatever.

Don't know why me and Noonan are getting Noonaned on this thing. #### these guys.
