Let the cancel go through (it's at midnight) then call the next morning as a new customer - you should get the best deal they are offering at the time.Just called and put in an order to cancel. They offered me a 20 dollar credit.
I doubled down thinking they would increase the offer. I scheduled cancellation for next Sunday. Said "If I need to buy antennas for 2 locals, i might as well go all the way."
Welp they went ahead with scheduling the cancel.
We'll see if they counter with anything else.

I would call and complain. Should be able to get something out of itJust lost our local ABC last night too.
Thinking of cancelling and going with cable.
This must be a breach of contract allowing you to get out of your contract, correct?
$20 a month or just a flat $20?Just called and put in an order to cancel. They offered me a 20 dollar credit.

what were paying per month before?Got $40 off a month for a year because I called and complained about not having NBC and ABC local stations gone.ABC was back about an hour after I called NBC still out.
were you already receiving discounts before this chop? If so I may have to call myself. I am still missing two channels (they are both ABC but that won't stop me from stating I watch bothGot $40 off a month for a year because I called and complained about not having NBC and ABC local stations gone.ABC was back about an hour after I called NBC still out.

I was paying rite at $120 a month.I called and sounded extremely annoyed kept repeating how extremely expensive that they were getting and now I can't even get my local channels. Then I toned it down some and said I realize he only worked for the company and was probably getting a lot of angry calls, but that was beside the point because again I pay a lot of money for their service and their disputes with the affiliates were none of my concern my only concern was I wasn't getting the service I was paying for and then reminded him again how expensive they were. That is when he offered me the 40 dollars off a month without a contract or any of that nonsense.Still missing local NBC and its sister station.what were paying per month before?
What was the basis?Just got $50 off a month for 12 months and another $5 off for 6 months.
Called to complain about our local NBC affiliate missing, just regular customer service. (And yes I understand it's not necessarily all/any of DirecTV's/AT&T's fault, but I don't have much leverage with the owner of my local affiliate so save it). I asked if I could get some relief on my monthly bill due to the inconvenience. She said they were not going to charge for local channels during the dispute. I said, "that's it". She recommended I get an antenna for my local channels. This actually pissed me off so I said I wanted to cancel. Got sent to other department where I said I was pretty disgusted with the manner of customer service, telling me I need to buy an antenna because AT&T and Cox/Hearst are in a pissing match over FREE television channels. What was the basis?

And a $20 dollar streaming service for the others. Good idea.
And a $20 dollar streaming service for the others. Good idea. was this on top of your regular cut rate deal that we all got a few months ago?Just got $50 off a month for 12 months and another $5 off for 6 months.
Better hurry DirectvNow is already raising its price. If you are used to all the channels I'd suggest Vue for $55. If basic is all you need $20 for Sling. Or anywhere in between.Anyone switching to Directv Now? I'm paying $160 a month, and this would drop me to $40 a month.
My stance has been for several years that if I can't get it for free I won't have it. I have been able to get it for free for 10 straight years. I fear it's coming to an end with Att running things thoughDirectv set to raise prices for NFL Sunday Ticket by 9.3%. Good grief.
By free you mean an extended contract, everything that comes along with that and the hassle of having to call in to renegotiate your deal? All on top of the exorbitant prices you are paying for cable tv? I don't know, you might keep getting it free as it soon might be the only way to keep cable tv customers. My stance has been for several years that if I can't get it for free I won't have it. 1 year contract and usually 30 to 40 off per month plus other goodies. I dunno, seems like the good deals are always July/August timeframe in the past. I could be wrong but that's when I have always gotten themAnyone else getting the shaft here? I've been a customer for upwards of 13 years and the best they could do was $78/mo ($30 off normal price) and HBO for 12 months.
Last time I did this I got a ridiculously good deal including the gift card, etc.
Probably worse off now that it's AT&T.
Scheduled my disconnect for April 14th but will call back in a week or so to see if they will budge. Trying to get it in the $65/mo range and the gift card would be nice.
Is there a direct number to the department that can make this happen? I had to call the main number and then asked to be transferred to retention.... and who I talked to there didn't sound like she had much pull.
HELP!
Yeah I think that's when I got mine (August 2015). Sounds like someone here (last post of page previous to this one) got a good deal after setting up cancellation and they called him back a week later. That's what I'm hoping for.I dunno, seems like the good deals are always July/August timeframe in the past. I could be wrong but that's when I have always gotten them
Let them actually disconnect at midnight and call the first thing the next morning. Giant difference in what they offer a "new" customer.Anyone else getting the shaft here? Alright I'm going to tempt fate.Let them actually disconnect at midnight and call the first thing the next morning. Giant difference in what they offer a "new" customer.

A lot of people here got emails or calls, I didn't.Yeah I think that's when I got mine (August 2015). Sounds like someone here (last post of page previous to this one) got a good deal after setting up cancellation and they called him back a week later. That's what I'm hoping for.
Just call to reschedule the disconnect date then if you're concerned it won't go well and they will be without tv.Alright I'm going to tempt fate.
I think we have friends with their kids staying with us that day so I need to be on my game. We'll have two extra kids in the house, that could get messy.
Update: I ended up subscribing to DirectvNow at the $35 month rate, plus an extra $5 month for HBO. Prepaid 3 months ($120) and got a free Apple TV. My wife wasn't ready to jump ship from Directv's cable service in January, so I carried both for 2.5 months. Finally got her to agree to give up our Directv cable package (last bill was for $172) and we're sticking with DirectvNow's streaming service. By far the worst part of the switch is the lack of DVR, but hopefully it's a feature offered later in 2017 as promised. Otherwise, I'm extremely pleased with the service. I've had no problems with buffering or streaming and I like the layout. Of course part of that is Apple TV and the simplistic yet awesome remote.Better hurry DirectvNow is already raising its price. yea that's what I did too. I was out of town though so I never even noticed it being off, mine was dead for like 3 days and I never got a call. Called them and got a good deal (think it was 40 off for a year, sunday ticket and gift card). I like getting the ticket for free so I only call in the summer....nirad3 said:Alright I'm going to tempt fate.

Same here...our service has been spotty too. On our second genie inthe past 6 months. DVRs not working well. And any kind of rain at all and my service cue goes in and out. Getting very tired of them. Not looking forward to playing the game this year (like I ever do). The couple of times I've had to call customer service this year for unrelated issues, the people seem to get worse and worse.
Does that have DVR?I've been with DIrectv Now since January - love it. Bill went from $173 a month to $35 even. And got a free AppleTV to boot.
Dread this ordeal but it's worth it.Tiger Fan said:guess we all get to start playing the game again as our yearly prices expire
Nope. DTV Now does not currently have DVRDoes that have DVR?
