Carolina RB situation tonight (1 Viewer)

Stewart has been ?able for the entire season w/ the achilles. Normal week is off on Tues., then full practice Wed./Th. iirc.

This week's Thursday / early game complicates that a bit, but I'd be shocked if he wasn't fine.

DW - I don't really know.

I know D Will was battling a knee issue and missed some practice. I assume they will let him warm-up to see how it is feeling.

Adam Schefter is reporting DeWill will play tonight. Stewart has been questionable all year long but will play.

DeAngelo practiced Tuesday and Fox gave him off Wednesday to rest. He is fine. Stewart had Tuesday off (he always misses a day of practice cause of his achilles issue) and practiced yesterday. He is fine.

In addition he was on NFL.com last night and he wasn't talking about anything but getting back to Carolina football and that means give the ball to DeAngelo.

Double Trouble is the best they can think up for these guys? Pretty creative
Should be called the Superstar and the Drive Killer. Stewart can't get 1 yard if a defender gets a hand on him. His goal line failures this year far exceed his ability to punch it in.

I admittedly don't get to see much Carolina football since I'm in the Midwest so I was unaware of this. Most sites are lauding Stewart as the goal line guy now. Are those just assumptions due to his size?

No it is obviously a D. Williams owner. Stewart does very well in short yardage situations.

And there ya have it, thanks. :lmao: simey.

Hard to know if Stewart makes a better play than Bernard Scott in a TD heavy league. Scott should do well, but IS Stewart the short yardage guy now?

Yes I own DeAngelo and no, Stewart has sucked as the GL back. Check the game logs. Last week he failed miserably on 2 series. On one, he scored from 1 yard out but who couldn't on that play. I watch every game.Then2-5-ATL5 (13:16) J.Stewart up the middle to ATL 4 for 1 yard (M.Peterson, C.Lofton). Later1-3-ATL3 (1:59) D.Williams up the middle to ATL 1 for 2 yards (J.Anderson). 2-1-ATL1 (1:15) J.Stewart up the middle to ATL 4 for -3 yards (J.Anderson). The week before that:1-10-CAR15 (13:34) J.Stewart left end to CAR 13 for -2 yards (J.Vilma, J.Dunbar). 2-12-CAR13 (12:54) J.Stewart left tackle to CAR 14 for 1 yard (J.Vilma). 3-11-CAR14 (12:08) J.Stewart right end to CAR 16 for 2 yards (T.Porter, R.Harper). FUMBLES (T.Porter), RECOVERED by NO-P.Prioleau at CAR 16. P.Prioleau to CAR 16 for no gain (J.Stewart). 3 carries, 1 yard + fumble for this drive killer. He has no moves. DeAngelo is 10x the RB this guy is.

I've seen many sites make this assertion, too, and it's just false. They don't have a goal-line RB. The 2 RBs share carries, in virtually all situations. Williams gets about 63% of the carries, with Stewart getting about 30%.Stewarts TDs this year:

Week 10 (2)

>A 1 yard TD in the 1st quarter. This occured at the end of a drive that was done almost entirely in the no-huddle offense. Williams got the 1st 2 carries of the drive (which started at Carolina's 20). After those 1st 2 carries, Stewart was in on the drive, and when Steve Smith was tackled at the one, Stewart stayed in and got the goal-line plunge.

>A 45 yard TD run, on 3rd and 4. Williams got the 1st 2 carries, then Stewart was inserted on a likely passing down, and the play call fooled the defense, and Stewart rolled for a long TD.

Week 8(2)

>Stewart ran in a 6 yard TD, to cap off a 15 play, 7 & 1/2 minute drive. Williams last carry/reception was play #7, at 3 minutes, 10 seconds of the drive. Stewart was the RB for the last 4 minutes and 20 seconds.

>Stewart ran in a 10 yard TD. This occured 2 plays after Williams had busted a 77 yard run down to the 10 yard line. After the run, Williams was taken out to get a breather.

Week 6(1)

>Stewart had a 26 yard TD run. This ended a drive that took only 6 plays and a little under 3 minutes. Williams had 3 straight carries for 26 yards, then Delhomme threw 1 short pass, Stewart got two carries, the second of which was the 26 yard TD.

Week 5(1)

>8 yard TD run. This TD came after Washington muffed a punt, and Carolina recovered. After the recovery, Stewart ran 2 plays, a 4 yarder, and the 8 yard TD. It should be noted that Stewart ran the ball twice, and was the target of a pass on a 3rd play before Carolina punted. This was Stewart's playing time, and he took advantage.

So, you have 6 Stewart TDs, and I can't see how anyone could make the case that he was a "goal-line" RB in any of these TDs. Only 4 TDs were inside the 10, and in only 1 of these 4 instances did Stewart replace Williams to get the TD, and that only happened because Williams had just broken a 77-yard run.

Redzone looks this year...

NAME RSH RSHYD YD/RSH RSHTD TARG REC RECYD YD/REC RECTD FANT PT 1 Jonathan Stewart 27 86 3.19 4 0 0 0 0 0 32.60 2 DeAngelo Williams 25 96 3.84 6 9 4 27 6.75 0 48.30
Stewart has 2 more redzone carries but Williams has been more effective in the redzone and has obviously been more active in the passing game.

sorry if wrong thread, but with Goodson and Moore inactive, who is returning kickoffs, those were their 2 top guys

anyone can attest to how they look?
Nothing has changed since last week when both were listed "questionable" by Fox yet there was no question that both would play. All CAR is doing is covering its butt concerning the NFL policy. Move along
