Carson Palmer returning next week? (1 Viewer)

Bengals | Carson Palmer meets with club Thu Sep 1, 06:49 PM

Updating a previous item, the Cincinnati Bengals met with QB Carson Palmer, and he may return to the team next week.

If this is true and Palmer shows up, whats his value like this season? Is he automatically inserted as the starting QB over Dalton? How big a boost do guys like Benson and AJ Green get if he is? Curious what others think about this.
Bold Prediction ;)

He could do like Favre... "Retire" then unretire right after camp, essentially forcing the Bengals to pay a elite qb worthy salary to be a backup, or cut him.

His trade value is crap at this point. Mikey won't accept his actual market value, so he will force the retirement card.

Do you have the Fever? The LeFevour Fever!?!?!

I don't fully understand the long term implications of what's happening. Is it more than likely that Palmer ends up as QB somewhere by next year, regardless of whether or not he reports? Or is he never able to go anywhere else unless he reports to the Bengals first?
Palmer owes 4 "active" years to the Bengals. Even if he sits out for 4 years, he'll still owe the Bengals 4 more years before he can sign with another team. That's the bad news.

The good news is that if Palmer reports to the team, then Cincinnati MUST either pay him $11.5 million or cut him. So, his best chance of resurrecting his career is to report to Cincinnati and then force Mike Brown's hand.
Thanks for this explanation. Reporting is just the next domino that needs to fall, but no one knows where this is going. Much appreciated!

Well here is another Bold Prediction... Peyton Manning either retires or is put on IR. The Bengals release Palmer after he shows up, so that they don't have to pay that much money. Palmer signs a 1 year deal with the Colts and takes snaps from Jeff Saturday this year!
