Carson Palmer: When do we move on for 2011? (1 Viewer)

The line-in-the-sand approach, as costly as it might be, makes it clear that if you sign with the Bengals, you will be expected to honor that contract.
Wasn't it Palmer that drew the line in the sand?
I believe what I said agrees with this. Certainly that was my intent. That, however, does not preclude Cincinati from also drawing a line in the sand. When both parties in a discussion do so, that is what usually leads to an impasse.

the bengals organization is a joke. truly it is. that season of hard knocks showed us that.palmer should report, and then just pull a hammy and sit on the sidelines all season collecting fat checks from brown and then bengals. lol.
Agreed, they are a joke. So they are saying that since Palmer signed a contract he should honor it. Ok, great. So by that rationale we can presume that the Bengals have NEVER cut a player in the middle of a contract?
Had the same thought after reading this quote from Brown. “Carson signed a contract. He made a commitment. He gave his word,” Brown said. “He’s going to walk away from his commitment.”

Something had to have happened at the end of the year- Carson either wanted Lewis gone, Ocho gone,

or whatever, and they did not cave into his demands. So now carson is stuck.

I don't blame him one bit for wanting out.

Mike Brown described him as a splendid player for us.

What owner uses the word Splendid? it's not tea and crumpets.

I hope others can understand how bad it is here in Cincinnati.

Mike Brown is the devil.

What did Brown do for Antonio Bryant?(although he made out like a bandit)

Carson is sick of being trapped in the mental ward, and he wants out. I dont blame him

Very few players have accumulated enough money to simply retire on a whim. Most spend a lot while they are in the league, and it's simply not an option to quit when they have productive years left. I doubt this would be a major issue, as Palmer is an exception in that he has plenty of cash stashed away. A couple of million isn't going to cut it. Still, I don't mind Palmer getting stuck here. The guy is a total hypocrite, bagging on Ocho when he held out demanding a trade, then doing essentially the same thing. He deserves whatever he gets.
Palmer really doesn't care if he plays or not. Brown should get what he can for him. He's no going to lead anyone to a superbowl. Brown doesn't see this. He has tunnel vision. Ship him out, get something for him and laugh that you ripped off some other team.

Agreed, this is football, not Rec League Softball. It's a business. You currently have a commodity; time to sell that commodity. Doing nothing DOES NOT IMPROVE YOUR TEAM. What is the goal in CIN? WINNING? Or is it to simply punish players that have bruised Mike Brown's ego?Get some draft picks and improve your team.

Maybe this has been said but Palmer ought to just show up now and completely mess with the Bengals by competing with Dalton.

Sitting out a year, especially at his age won't help Palmer move on with another team.

Wow, 2 years out from a division title and Chad Johnson (el 85), Houzhmanzadeh (ok, 3 years out), Chris Henry, and Palmer are all gone. Amazing.

Career:

Cmp Att Cmp% Yds TD TD% Int Int%

2024 3217 62.9 22694 154 4.8 100 3.1

46-51 lifetime in 97 career starts.

2 10+ win seasons.

3 seasons at .500 or within 1 game of .500

2 horrid seasons at 4-16.

It's scarey to think how bad Cincy would have been without him but also to think what he could have done with a really good franchise.
