I’ mean, it only makes sense, fantasy football-wise.
After a very slow start, Travis Hunter finally had a breakout game last week, then a bye week during which there’s talk of giving him the “WR1 treatment.” So, naturally, we’re all hoping he comes out of the bye on fire, excitedly dropping him into our starting lineups in a plus plus matchup vs LV.
Nope. Instead, he somehow hurts his knee during the bye week and is going on IR. The fantasy Gods couldn’t have scripted this any better.

Hunter was my last WR in my WR3 spot. I have nobody else. It’s either Parker Washington, Jaylin Noel, Coker or Horton for me to pick up. Great.

Last year would have said the opposite, but man - Mac turned Kendrick Bourne into a superstar for a 2-game stretch.
That said, I still believe BTJ has plenty of talent.

They need to 100% commit to using him only as a WR next year or his career could he derailed with injuries.
Wonder how far away Brenton Strange is from returning, he was getting quite a few targets the first 4 weeks before getting injured against KC.
If only I didn’t.

I think he's getting close, progressed to doing rehab work on a side field this week. Still two weeks before he can return but think he's got a great shot to get back for week 11.

Kupp cld miss this week..I have Horton on bench just in case he sits. He cld have good game in high scoring affair.
And so cld Washington.Especially with Thomas not being 100% with mystery shoulder injury of sorts.
Noel way too many mouths to feed and Kirk takes his slot role back. Collins back as well.
Maybe grab Tyler Johnson from Jets as well as great flyer after last weeks good game.

The first full-blown crisis of the Liam Coen Era was delivered in thunderbolt fashion late Friday morning when the Jacksonville Jaguars’ coach announced rookie receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter would be placed on injured reserve with a right knee injury.
Hunter is out at least four games and the Jaguars will take their time before ascertaining his status for the rest of the regular season. According to a source, he sustained the non-contact injury while playing cornerback during Thursday’s practice.
What an immediate gut punch for the Jaguars (who are 4-3 and survived the toughest part of their schedule before their bye week), for quarterback Trevor Lawrence (who looked like he created a connection with Hunter two weeks ago against the Los Angeles Rams) and for the entire organization (who made the gigantic swing on draft night to trade a package that included next year’s first-round pick to Cleveland to select Hunter with a two-way vision).
But now this.
Now what for the laboring Jaguars’ passing game? Pain, probably.
If receiver Brian Thomas Jr. limited this week with a shoulder injury, was playing like his 2024 version, the Jaguars would miss Hunter, but they could at least bank on Thomas producing with more targets. But Thomas (six drops) been in a season-long rut.
What about receivers Dyami Brown, Parker Washington and Tim Patrick? Brown hasn’t done much, Washington has dropped several passes and Patrick has a groin injury putting his status for Sunday’s game at Las Vegas in doubt.
The Jaguars’ passing game was getting ready to go through Hunter, who showed a willingness to go over middle, was able to gain yards after the catch and, you know, caught the football. But the ripple effect is about Thomas.
I was supportive of shopping Thomas before the Nov. 4 trade deadline while he still had some value. Now, the Jaguars can’t consider it until the offseason. Lawrence and Thomas need to figure things out and quickly for the Jaguars to end their two-game losing streak.
I think I’m gonna go Horton. Kupp sounds like he’s gonna miss.
Against the grain thinking, Does this actually mean the Jags shop Thomas harder? I doubt they really want to trade him, but if they think Hunter is their focus (and they paid big for him) do they cash in now and try and get some chips to upgrade elsewhere (cough cough QB cough cough).
With Trev's contract they reallyu need a rookie QB contact to help them rebalance.

I guess I am not sure what you mean by this. Why does Hunter's contract require a rookie QB contract? Why would Hunter being hurt make them more likely to move Thomas? Has Hunter really proven so far he's so good that he doesn't need help around him?

The Coen-Gladstone-Boselli regime is looking longer term, but this is a five alarm fire half way into their first season.
W/O Hunter, Thomas is their only big play maker. The franchise QB is scuffling. After a promising start the defense and running game has flat lined. They’re running out of options
They made a big splash beating KC in prime time, but have been lackluster since. They still have the Colts twice and the resurgent Texans once. Would anyone be shocked if they finished 6-11?
With the Jags, hope is always the strategy.

Jacksonville Florida Times-UnionThe Jacksonville Jaguars will be without their “juice” for at least four games as rookie two-way star Travis Hunter suffered a non-contact knee injury during practice and was sent to the injured reserve list.
Hunter, who was coming off his best game as a professional, will be sidelined until the Nov. 30 game against the Tennessee Titans at the earliest. It’s a big blow to the Jaguars, who were likely to lean heavily on Hunter’s pass catching ability coming out of the bye week.
His defensive ability also would’ve been key as the Jaguars try to solidify their secondary after injuries and trades have shuffled the deck a bit on that side of the ball.
But even beyond his on-field impact, Hunter’s energy will be missed as the Jaguars cling to their barely above .500 record and look to make up ground in the postseason race.
“It's really unfortunate, sh--, for our team,” captain Jourdan Lewis said of Hunter’s injury. “It's definitely a big blow, because he was that energetic force that we needed”

Hunter’s known for his infectious personality around the building.From the moment he arrived in Jacksonville when he tossed a football back and forth with head coach Liam Coen in the hallways of the Miller Electric Center, to his pre-game dancing as the team is warming up, he’s himself through and through.
His production will be missed, sure. But his personality is the thing that teammates will most likely miss the most.
“Oh, man, it hurts just because of the relationship that we have. It’s like a little brother to me,” wide receiver Dyami Brown said in the locker room. “I'm praying for him. I told him, ‘Whatever you need, if you need to talk or anything, just come holler at me.’”
Brown and Hunter were both brought in this offseason by Jacksonville’s front office — Brown in free agency and Hunter through the draft. They became very close in the receiver room with the pair joining several Jags players going to the Bahamas to train before the season started.
The unique thing about Hunter is his impact stretches to both sides of the ball. And that same energy he has for Jacksonville’s offense is the same energy the defense relies on.
“You lose the juice, man. When we got to have it, he was on the field and he was making things happen,” Lewis said of Hunter. “He was just getting to his own and it's unfortunate, because he seemed like he was just catching on everything, and he was making plays.”
Hunter’s ascension with the Jaguars on both sides of the ball was on-schedule for what promised to be a standout rookie season. Hunter has played 489 total snaps this season. He played 324 on offense, 162 on defense and three on special teams.
He’s recorded 298 yards on 28 catches through seven games with one touchdown. Defensively, he has 15 total tackles and three pass break ups. The numbers may not be eye-popping at first glance but the rise in production is noticeable, recording an eight catch game with 101 yards and a touchdown in his last outing.
“The energy that he brought for us, and really for the group, it allowed us to go out there and be ourselves,” Brown said. “But we can still go out there and be ourselves. He's still with us, at the end of the day, because he's going to support us just as much as we're going to support him.”

Coen did not give a timeline for Hunter’s return and he did not elaborate on how serious the knee injury is.
The reality is, this might be an injury that derails Hunter’s rookie season and sidelines him until next year. Or this could be an injury where Hunter returns before the end of the season to give the Jaguars a needed boost as they jockey for postseason positioning.
Regardless, Hunter’s teammates are confident that he’ll shake back and be able to return to his prior form.
“I feel like anything that Travis does, he always keeps a positive mind,” Brown said after saying he’s talked with Hunter since the injury. “He never lets anything get to him. I think that right there, that just shows the character that he has.”
Coen echoed similar thoughts earlier in the day, saying Hunter was facing a “minor setback for a major comeback” and saying Hunter was in good spirits.
It isn’t surprising that Hunter would have a good mindset about recovering from the injury and moving forward. Especially to those who’ve shared a field with the talented player.
“The same thing that makes him the guy he is, that can play both sides of the ball and be dynamic, will be the same thing that's gonna get him through this,” Lewis said. “His mental fortitude is second to none. And if anybody can overcome this and become better, I think it'd be him.”

Hunters big so called breakout game last week kinda a joke.
I'd hope he'd have 6 catches and over 100 yards on like 100 targets. Most decent wrs would of put up same #s with that many targets in a game.
Most games he won't come close to the targets he had in that 1 game ,while playing catch up.
I think Hunter is a bit over hyped!.but that's just me.

I had to drop him in redraft. Even with some silver lining he’s been hard to start in any game all year. And I say that as someone who actually started him in his 100+ TD game against the Rams. But I only started him because my hand was forced.
Even if he’s only out 4 games. Rough start his first game back…. And then we are getting into fantasy playoffs.
Now having said all that… I’m confident someone in my league will pick him up and start him against me in the playoffs where he drops 40 points on me with two offensive tds and two defensive tds in the same game.

I wouldn't worry abt Hunter doing much in playoffs,with TL at QB.
Plus it took Hunter a ridiculous amount of targets to even get the points his only good game this year.
I dropped Hunter weeks ago and zero regrets. Waste of bench space.
