Cedric Benson is STILL bad. (1 Viewer)

benched him yesterday for Leon Washington (figured this would be the week Leon took a screen pass to the house) . As a result, i need 51 points in tonight in my PPR league out of Steve Smith, DeAngelo and Felix Jones. (doable, but it would be nice if i only needed 41)

wont be sitting him any more. He's been solid.

In my main league, I had to start him because Westbrook was out and Cadillac was banged up. Yeah, that worked out. He is an every week starter, from this point forward.

I started him and FJax. Left Moreno and his TD on the bench. I still won by 1 point, thanks to Favre's last second TD heave.

if Ced is "benchable" on anyone's team, I'd sure like to see your stable of running backs. until he drops a couple of turds in a row, he's unbenchable on my teams.

There are so few stud RB's now, it is not even funny. Most teams have some kind of RBBC, so I can't imagine he would be benchable unless you are in a two person league, and the other guy has nothing.

Let the record show that Benson is a Man Beast.
Dare I say, Benson is looking like the best back in the NFL....
2nd best.
:tinfoilhat: And yes, Benson is approaching "stud" territory. Part of it simply has to do with the fact that he's averaging 23 carries a game - the dude has 178 touches in 7 games! That's on pace to have 406 touches - that's just nuts. But obviously, he's making good on most of those.

 He's the Gerald Riggs to ADP's Marcus Allen.

I have been steadfast that people were wrong about Benson. Time and time again I would defend him, not because I thought he was an elite talent, but because nobody can run well or look good when your OL stinks. Look at Thomas Jones. People incorrectly think he is a really good RB. he is not, in fact, he has less than average ability, but he looks great when running un touched through huge holes. Shonne Green steps in and puts up 2 TD's and 150 yards after Leon goes down. Is he elite? The point is that great athletes can all look good or bad depending on their line. Sure there is a difference in the level of all backs, but do you think Benson would look as good as he has been if he were getting hit behind the LOS like the LT2 in SD?

I am not sure where Cedric's talent level is yet. He is looking good right now, but more important, Carson Palmer's deep threats and passing threat in general are opening up lanes for Cedric.

I start two RBs every week and I have to choose between Ronnie Brown, Ray Rice, and Benson. Ronnie always starts, so I play Rice/Benson by matchup.10 team competitive money league.

How did people bench him? This week didn't prove Benson, it reinforced him. Look at his schedule and what hes done against Pitt and Baltimore already. If that didn't seal it for you, you need a new hobby.

Cedric Benson is currently (10/22) Jeff Pasquino's #47 dynasty RB - 1 spot behind Chester Taylor and 1 spot ahead of Earnest Graham. Interesting...

you're a lucky guy, not many have choices like those week after week. congrats.

Not big on him being "great," but I think it simply just boils down to opportunity. I think if he stays healthy and they feed him the ball, he will finish as a quality RB2 simply due to the sheer amount of touches. I have no problem drafting him, but won't reach for him.
I was on the low side, obviously. This guy has proven a lot of people wrong. Good for those who drafted him or even reached, one of the biggest steals of the draft.

Yeah I've got the same problem...MJD, Ronnie, and Benson in a 12-teamer. I'm about at the point where I'm gonna go with Benson no matter what, and play MJD/Ronnie based on matchup. :-S You know Benson's gonna get >20 a game.

Boy, I was wrong on this one. I did have a chance to roster him in a few leagues but more as a flyer rather than someone I really wanted. Dude looks good so far. Granted he's getting more carries than most backs, but hes making them count. I've never been a Benson fan, but it looks like the Bengals finally have a legit RB. Congrats!

Dude is heading towards a big pay day. Let's see how much motivation he has after that gets done. Right now he actually looks impressive.

This is exactly why I drafted Benson in my redraft leagues. Talent is overrated when it comes to redraft IMO. It's just as much about opportunity. Benson has one of the best opportunities in the NFL to put up fantasy points. He is the only RB on his team worth squat and gets loads of touches.

That Cedric Benson wasn't all that bad in 2009, go figure...
:lmao:I just read back through this thread. What a rollercoaster ride. Benson went from flaming turd to unbenchable stud in a manner of weeks. I'm  to keep him again this year, and I'll be expecting even better production. He'll represent value in redraft leagues for 2010 as well, because I'm sure there will still be doubters.Cedric Benson. ;)
