Cedric Benson (1 Viewer)

Dr. Awesome

Footballguy
ESPN, Yahoo, and many of the other mainstream ff sites don't seem to be terribly high on this guy for this week or for the season.

Palmer has looked awful yet the team is still scoring some points. Benson is averaging 20+ touches through 5 weeks and only has 2 touchdowns. He's had two very good weeks but 3 weeks of being below average.

He has a couple of ugly matchups but for the most part his schedule looks rather favorable.

Thoughts on this guy? Anyone buying him? Selling him? He's been a bit of a bust thus far, but he's scored more than Turner and just a few points less than MJD...despite already having his bye week.

I have him in a league and definitely wouldn't call him a bust. One week he had 2 TDs, another he lead the NFL in rushing for the week. I'd say he's performing to about the expected level.

I think he's a buy from an owner who may be a bit down on him with some depth. As a fan, he's entertaining to watch run. The guy is a very tough runner who doesn't like to go down, despite not having the greatest holes to run through. There has been some clamoring for him to be more of the focal point of the offense. I agree. The playcalling has been suspect, and there have been times when Benson seemed unstoppable, yet they would continue to try and feed the WR's.

Couldn't agree more. I haven't caught an entire Bengals game, but I've seen parts of several. They seem to force feed the passing game and it leads to incompletions time and time again. The play calling is absolutely horrendous.

I actually like him going forward, and think he could easily finish in the top 15 RBs. He gets little respect for a talented RB that gets 20+ carries every game and consistently produces, and has some big games. I think hes a definite buy-low candidate.

I like Benson. I sold him only because I had the depth but he's an excellent RB2. Can't ask more from a RB than to get 20+ carries a game. He seems to be starting to break through now.

Where do folk rank him compared to the guys he's currently near (points-wise)? McFadden, MJD, Turner...
I'd have to put Turner ahead of him. MJD for the rest of the year gets a slight nod depending on the QB situation. Benson to me is way ahead of DMC. Raiders look awful.

3 TDs

I'd say his ceiling is around 8th rb, floor around 15th
