I know the announcers kept referring to the Steelers #1 ranked defense.First of all, that was last year. More importantly, the Steelers played without James Harrison and Ryan Clark. Harrison is not the DPOY caliber linebacker from 2008, but he's still a difference maker (if he can get and stay healthy) and helps LaMarr Woodley on the other side get less attention. I can't recall even seeing Woodley make a play tonight. Clark is clearly a better safety than Mundy, brings a lot of intangibles and also seems almost telepathically linked to Polamalu and allows Troy to be far more aggressive and seek game-changing plays.Just to keep everything in perspective that the Steelers were not anywhere near at full strength on defense. Lots of credit to Peyton on his return. Even as a die-hard Steeler fan, it was good to see him back playing at such a high level.I'll let the coach types in the Shark Pool tell me what if anything appeared to be different in the Peyton offense, compared to his Colts days, but I'm wondering if slight tweaks to what was expected may also have been part of the reason for his strong start, and which might be less effective now that there is at least one game of Peyton as a Bronco for future opponents to study.
