Yeah, the idea that this isn't newsworthy without the victims' religion is bananas.

I googled triple murders and the first results were stories about a shooting at a Starbucks in DC that happened almost 20 years ago, it was huge news and I still remember it. Random (not family/friends, not related to criminal activity) triple homicides are incredibly rare.
