***Chicago Cubs Thread*** (4 Viewers)

Crap, Castro still a Cub.

A fairly dull trade deadline.

Haren is big upgrade over Beeler/Richard. Basically gave up nothing to get him.

Tommy Hunter a nice bullpen piece with Ramirez on the DL. Had to give up Lake, but he wasn't really in the picture anymore. He's out of options, so he would most likely be gone at seasons end.

Two good moves, but nothing that will grab the headlines.

Sometimes those are the best kind. Haren solidifies the rotation, which was completely necessary to give them a chance to make a run.

Following the team this year has been entertaining. All of the talk has swayed from definitely playoff bound to not this year after every streak of good or bad play. On team with so many young hitters, the streakiness had to be expected.

It definitely feels that way. It's difficult to not overreact when you follow the team every day. Some games the entire lineup looks lost.

Old Man Peavy starts swearing at Schwarber. Schwarbz, looking genuinely curious, yells back "What?"

:lmao:

Castro to see time at 2nd and 3rd.
Cubs beat writer was just on the radio and said the team is no longer giving consideration to Castro's trade value and will treat him in whatever way benefits the their chances this season. Basically said it's an absolute certainty he's gone this offseason and they'll take what they can get for him.

Coghlan is a free agent. I don't know how much I like counting on Baez.

I'd love to see Cogs, and his beautiful hairless chest, back here next year.

Me too, but Scott Boras will probably suggest he go elsewhere. I also think Coghlan will jump at the opportunity to be an every day player. He'll always be platooned against lefties in Chicago.

That milky-white little angel is starting at 2B again tonight.

+15 now. 2.5 behind Pitt for the #1 WC. Good stuff tonight. Haren looked good early but wore down. He's not gonna be an innings eater
