***Chicago Cubs Thread*** (1 Viewer)

Off topic a bit, but how many small Brennamans do you think you could take at once?

I hear they are a scrappy bunch

Watch out Chicago, Annyong and I are headed up for today's game.

Boozing, wings(we'll be at yakzies before the game) and baseball....sounds like a fantastic Sunday Funday

Pirates looking pretty bush league lately.
I could understand it last year at the end of the WC game.  Lots of emotions knowing that their season was about to end against a divisional rival against a pitcher that they had no answer for.  I agree it's a little bush league to start that up already.  Best way to gain respect from the Cubs is to just beat them (especially when you have your ace on the mound).  This isn't new though.  The Pirates have been this way for several years now.

It's just silly at this point.  These guys make way too much freaking money for that.  I'm sure McCutchen is out there in center rolling his eyes thinking, "great, now I have to worry about getting one in my ear tomorrow."

I'll be on the first base side of the field this evening; first time at PNC.  Looking forward to some Arrieta domination.

Any chance we see Willson Contreras this year?  They all of a sudden have a need at catcher.  He's slashing .353/.423/.485 in Iowa with identical K% and BB% of 10.3%.

Best Run Differential Through 25 Games (since 1900)

97: 1902 Pirates
94: 1905 Giants
89: 2016 Cubs
86: 1939 Yankees

I'm assuming we will see him at some point later on. Maybe after super 2? I'm not sure how that works. Maddon has recently said that Contreras isn't ready though.

I don't get to see a lot of Cub games so I was excited to see them last night vs Pittsburgh.   They looked great up and down the lineup.    They were all hitting.   I'd never heard of Baez before and he made a play down the 3rd base line and rifled it over to first.   Wow!!!   That kid's arm is amazing.

Also, seeing Arietta pitch was a thing of beauty.   I'm really excited about the team they are putting on the field.   Fingers crossed.

Baez is definitely having a bit of a coming out party with some injuries paving the way for playing time.  He looks like another stud in the making.

Amazing how much more bat control he has when he's not swinging out of his shoes. And his defense has been unreal. He might have the quickest hands in baseball.

I can't help but think about how scary they'd be with Schwarber. :(

and Heyward's contribution has been minimal so far. Have to hope he picks it up at the plate very soon.

True but their pitching has to be due for somewhat of a regression as well.

Agree. I'd like them to find a number two that's better than Lester at the deadline. His inability to throw is going to bite them in the postseason.
