1 carry and out....Is there a rule in KC or something?
Is the where out eat an entire Turducken during halftime_He's maddening. What else is new?matthews limping off...
I've not heard that before, but either way it was his forearm, up from the wrist.I forget if it was Mike Pereira or Jim Daopoulos (another former ref doing TV broadcasts now), but one of them said last week a wrist would be considered part of the hand.
Obviously Weddle has small wrists and big hands.Wrist, forearm, shins, and ankles are all down.Wrist is down. Hand is not down. That's how I've known the rule.Did Mayock just make up that thing about the wrist?
Agreed. I don't know what they were talking about. That was a terrible throw
still going strongis it getting any clearer? This is why I didn't understand the Chargers D love. Bad defense meets bad offense is not a recipe for success
Wasn't that in regards to Dez Bryant's play? Maybe it is different for establishing a catch and determining down by contact? I know I've seen the wrist ruled down. Maybe the rule has changed?I forget if it was Mike Pereira or Jim Daopoulos (another former ref doing TV broadcasts now), but one of them said last week a wrist would be considered part of the hand.
Yeah, something along these lines changed this year. I'm pretty sure the change was that the wrist would be considered the same as a hand, in terms of being down. I can't recall for sure, though.I forget if it was Mike Pereira or Jim Daopoulos (another former ref doing TV broadcasts now), but one of them said last week a wrist would be considered part of the hand.
He is hit by 3 guys before he is within 3 yards of the line. Pretty predictable, they bring in Jamaal and hand him the ball on 1st down. I mean even Norv can figure that pattern out.Charles isn't exactly lighting the world on fire either. After half time....your franchise back gets 1 carry.....runs over to the sidelines for the next 2 plays and punt.
Actually, strike that... it was Pereira and he was talking about a receiver getting a wrist down and how that counts towards fulling 2 feet down or 1 other body part when making a possession. Though... hmm. Not sure, you might be able to read out of it what I said originally.I forget if it was Mike Pereira or Jim Daopoulos (another former ref doing TV broadcasts now), but one of them said last week a wrist would be considered part of the hand.
Next series:-Mathews for 2 yardsOff to the sidelines to rest up for the 4th Q.

Jim Daopoulos @RefereeJimDWrist is part of the hand so review is confirmed
And Mathews was shockingly on he sideline nursing an injury.Am I the only one who thinks Mathews could have run it in from the 1? Way to out smart yourself Norv.Except that would be Battle (short yardage back) or Brown (if it was 3rd down or under 2 minutes). ####### Norv.
Actually, now that I think about it... It probably should be a ground-forced-[no]fumble either way. If you are going down and the first thing that hits the ground is the ball, and it is jarred loose it would be a ground-force, no fumble. Why would it be different if the hand hits first? That should still be a ground-force, no?I've not heard that before, but either way it was his forearm, up from the wrist.I forget if it was Mike Pereira or Jim Daopoulos (another former ref doing TV broadcasts now), but one of them said last week a wrist would be considered part of the hand.
I don't know wtf you're talking about -- I hate cutler+n and the bears, had stl d everywhere, and currently have gates and sd d.monday night football on thursday has been awesome!!At least next week we'll finally get a good Thursday night matchup: Colts and Jags.
My dead grandmother was credited with an assist on the tackle.good power by Mathews on that screen![]()

Yeah dude, most NFL backs can run through a player diving directly into their knees as soon as they catch the ball.good power by Mathews on that screen![]()
Hand is not considered down, a player can use his hand to catch himself and continue running, having the back of the wrist hit the ground and force a fumble is a fumble.I've not heard that before, but either way it was his forearm, up from the wrist.I forget if it was Mike Pereira or Jim Daopoulos (another former ref doing TV broadcasts now), but one of them said last week a wrist would be considered part of the hand.
"The ground can't cause a fumble" is a saying, not a rule. And a bad saying at that. The ground can certainly cause a fumble. What it can't do is cause a fumble when the contact with the ground makes you down by contact. That is, if your knee, elbow, back, etc (any body part but hands or feet) hits the ground, you're immediately down and the ball coming out because of that contact doesn't matter because the play is already dead. But if the contact with the ground does not yet make you down by contact, then it certainly can cause a fumble. If you're tackled and the first thing that hits the ground is the ball, or your hand holding the ball, you're not yet down. So if you fumble it's still a live ball.Actually, now that I think about it... It probably should be a ground-forced-[no]fumble either way. If you are going down and the first thing that hits the ground is the ball, and it is jarred loose it would be a ground-force, no fumble. Why would it be different if the hand hits first?
