I lost to this three times in a row last night. Was trying to push to arena 6 and stopped me cold. No pun intended 

 
Hog and freeze isn't that bad for me because I'm fully expecting it once I see that hog come out.  Usually I'll have a cannon waiting for it, and once I drop that I sit back and monitor the hog's health and wait to see that freeze come out so I can drop another troop after everything is frozen.

Just put a cannon into my deck for this. Thx for the tip

 
I actually think a tournament would be a decent idea right now. Could probably run three different ones. A top tier (Scott, Fudd, Doc), a middle tier (most of us) and a lower tier for newer players and/or players who havent leveled their towers yet. 

Any interest

Would be best two of three. Loser gets to replace two cards from their deck. I got that idea from the tournament Supercell had at their place. 

Any interest?

Based off some of the stuff above, the deck I'm running is mostly spam defense but has some power to it as well when needed:

knight lvl6, arch lvl7, barbs lvl7, spear goblin hut lvl4, musketeer lvl4, arrows lvl6, spear goblins lvl6, minions lvl7

Depending how cards fall I haven't run into too many battles I can't counter anything thrown my way. Haven't run into hog/freeze much...yet

Currently running:

Elixer (lvl4), Skel Army (1), Archers (7), Minion Horde (7), Rocket (3), Wizard (5), Skel King (2), Spear Gobs (7).

Sitting around 1900 trophies.  Since I switched to this deck (about 15 games) my win/loss is:

Wins: 13

1-0 x8

3-1 x3

3-0 x1

2-1 x1

Draws: 1

0-0

Losses: 8

1-2 x2

0-1 x5

1-3

If I run into a projectile heavy deck, I'm screwed.  Arrows+Fireball destroy me.  Otherwise I can usually wear someone down over the long run and find a spot where they overextend and get a quick tower or sometimes the castle as well.

 
See, what I have done is level up everything. I know a lot of people dont, but you never know for sure what you will use and what works. 

Level 7 Troops- Arrows, Spear Gobs, Barbs, minion horde, minions, Knight, Archers, Gobs, Bomber, skellies, Tesla, Zap

Im sure if I was trying to conserve money, I would only have 4 or 5 of those upgraded. But I am more concerned with getting to level 8. Im at 1739/2000 right now.

I'm not stockpiling like a zillion gold coins.  You can't really level everything. SC knows how to keep the carrot just out of reach.  I regret doing bomber now that it seems to have taken a nerf for valks which now has the same role more or less for me.  I think the Arena4/5 gold rate per day is about 500 right?  That's not near enough to upgrade everything.

I think it's 1000-1200 or so, depending on how often you can open your silver chests.  I get 400-500 from the free chests (40-50 x 8), 150 or so from the 10 crown daily, and then another 500-700 from the silver/gold.  I generally keep/save 1000 in case I need want to get whatever the epic monster is for the day. 

I also think the high level guys sort of play a different game than us as I'm sure the marginal value of a lot these things vary as the get leveled and the strategy is also different in going for 3 crowns versus 1. 

 
what are some epics that would be worth dropping 2k gold for?

I see the same ones on rotation

Just installed. What's the point in having 4 chests if I can only open one at a time? Played a bunch for trophies and moved up to arena 2 but now getting smacked around.

Don't really have many cards yet, assume that comes as you lvl? Lvl 2 currently.

They way i score with this deck is drop the hut, spam defense then drop the knight or barbs on the opposite tower. The opponent is so busy fending off the spam troops they can't generate an adequate defense of the other tower. Seems to be working but the key is to be able to spam troops quickly. If you get caught with a deal that has a couple of long build cards (4-5 elixir) you tend to caught with not being able to through troops out there to soak up hits.

Freeze, PEKKA, Balloon, and Rage also seem to show up a lot on the top teams.  PEKKA's one that I still can't get to work well and think he might be one that has to be heavily leveled to use well.

I think you are restricted to which rare/epics you receive, maybe even how much gold. but at that level I don't think it really matters you just need to level up everything

 
Whenever I see someone drop a witch I'm pretty sure worst case it's a draw.  I haven't seen that card be effective at anything but stalling

Dragon is OK for defense but for offense, it's terribad.  Most people don't use it right.  If someone drops a dragon against me, I just ignore it and save for a big push right after it dies.

I used witch behind giant/skele king for a while.  It's good for killing skeleton army and decent at minion horde but I didn't find it worth using once I got the wizard.

 
I basically ignore the witch unless I'm getting ready to drop a minion horde. The witch has splash damage which eats them up. 

 
Just saw this... Been playing a it.  Is there Fifa room?

Big fan of initial attack being a giant/musketeer.   I keep arrows on hand in case of skeleton army or minion horde.

 
I think I'm done with this one.  It's sort of frustrating to me to just be waiting out all the neat toys, all this while fighting to draws and cheese **** 1-0 losses.  Will probably delete the app as soon as today.  It's got some nice elements, but I don't really have the interest in funding this one.
