I would very wary of this whole concept.  A couple years ago I started to show my kids movies I like.  But after two movies they were like “how come you always pick the movies?”  So now we have a rotation system and I’ve been subjected to some pretty awful movies.

And that's a good point - I started to do the same with my son.  We would take turns picking stuff.
