Considering we had not had white people lynching black men for over 60 years, I will go with the one which actually.occurs.  

Of course of Kyle Rittenhouse would not have had his gun handy, he would have been lynched.  But the most on the left including the entire leftist media fully supported that attempted lynching because it was a white conservative.

Much of what liberalism offers is fantasy.  A false notion of utopia, a false notion of what people are, and ultimately a false notion that their approach works.

Much of the liberal mentality involves ignoring truth where it conflicts with dogmatic ideology and portraying that truth differently so their view of the world can stay intact instead of allowing events to challenge those core ideas.

This is just a little too obvious at this point. I mean when the only guy left that will take the bait has the name fish, is it really a skill anymore?

I've spoken of the shining city all my political life, but I don't know if I ever quite communicated what I saw when I said it. But in my mind it was a tall, proud city built on rocks stronger than oceans, wind-swept, God-blessed, and teeming with people of all kinds living in harmony and peace; a city with free ports that hummed with commerce and creativity. And if there had to be city walls, the walls had doors and the doors were open to anyone with the will and the heart to get here. That's how I saw it, and see it still.

Its a lovely vision, unfortunately people are not good across the board.

 
That was actually uncomfortable to watch.   I am in no position to question his mental health, but while I think the judge was correct and that Smollett is very arrogant, he seemed pretty unhinged. I will leave it at that. 

The judge's comments towards him were pretty much spot-on.  And I agree that the judge needs a haircut. :lol:  

 
Is it true he shouted in anger in the court that he was innocent?   Should get an extra 150 days psych analysis for that one. 
yes and that he wasn't suicidal.   guy appears to live in his own world.      all this because he wanted more money for his role on empire.      smh

 
Maybe, but I would imagine it is line with the standard sentence for that crime in that jurisdiction (but I don't have the specifics so I could be wrong).
Why should a standard sentence apply to an extraordinary crime? This guy occupied law enforcement for weeks, and attempted to use his celebrity to incite the public. He should be locked up for years. 

 
I never post here anymore, for a lot of reasons, but I know people directly affected by this bozo. His antics at sentencing and all the suicide crap now are too much. He got off light, and I hope karma catches up with him.

 
That sentence seems about right to me, but I say that as somebody who thinks that prison sentences are way too long in this country.  Five months in jail is a big deal.  (This assumes that he actually serves those 150 days of course).  

On the other hand, Smollett was perfectly happy to allow an innocent person to have his life ruined over this stupid stunt.  So I guess I'm torn a bit.

Because the crime itself was not extraordinary - look at what he was charged with. Sentences for crimes are supposed to be applied consistently by judges and I don't think his sentence was out of line with the norm (and one's celebrity status, in theory, shouldn't increase the penalty beyond which the maximum that is normally imposed).

I don’t believe in karma, but if I did, I would suggest that him getting five months in the big house is. I doubt he’ll learn a lesson given his bizarre behavior yesterday, as he seems more intent on being a victim/martyr, but one can always hope.

I didn't pay much attention to this fiasco.  So what the hell was this guy trying to do?  I guess he was just trying to make MAGA people look bad?  Did he act alone?

I think his punishment should be more harsh.  His actions caused a ripple affect amongst SJW's and increased hatred toward conservatives......which I guess was the point.  What a POS...

Wrong. If all they wanted was consistency there wouldn't be a range.  Maximums and minimums ensure consistency.  There is a range for a reason and this type of case is the perfect example of that reason.

There should be consistency in sentencing. Was his sentence out of line compared to most who have been convicted of this crime?

The maximums and minimums assure consistency.  Judges are given leeway to the full range, this case is a perfect example of why the range exist and should have been given the maximum.

I will make an argument in favor of consistency in sentencing for anyone no matter what I think of them personally. To expect people to respect the law, punishment should not applied in an arbitrary manner. It is a matter of fairness. 

And no one has answered yet if his sentence is in line with what most sentences for the crime in that jurisdiction that have been handed down.

System failed in what way?   Smollett got off too easy?
