Colin Cowherd Reporting (2 Viewers)

Still trying to understand why the suspension would not start with the BCS game? And how they are saying they did not educate? Please AJ Green (UG) was suspended 4 game for selling his jersey this year. You don't think Ohio State and every other major program did not cover this?
This all happened prior to November of 2009.
so?
You made it seem like they should have covered this after the AJ Green suspension, but the infractions had already occurred.

Sooooo.....does that mean Oregon wins the Rose Bowl? :unsure:If so, do I have to give my money back to the books?

Pissed at the players right now. First and foremost that they broke a simple rule that I'm sure they were aware of. No matter how insignificant they thought it was, the NCAA has a long track record of pulling this crap over piddly ####. Selling the jerseys and awards doesn't bother me nearly as much as selling the Championship rings. I would imagine it would piss off all the other players that still have theirs even more.

Did not catch the dates of it so sorry, but I have to wonder if the kids came forward after AJ Green got busted and reported it to OSU at that time? Since they did know it was against the rules at that point? And if not then they should still have to sit. IMO

From what I've gathered, Soloman Thomas was found to have gotten the "reduced price" for a tattoo around October of '09. It kind of spiraled from there, and Nov of '09 was when the NCAA was contacted and got involved.

The article said the suspension was 4 games, with a game added on for not coming forward once they knew what they did violated the rules

The number I'm hearing is 3 already filed paperwork. The deadline is passed so, the ones who didn't can't change their minds now.

It isn't really clear if the 5th game was imposed by OSU or NCAA.
“Once a student-athlete understands a violation has occurred, they must immediately come forward to report it,” he(Gene Smith) said. “That did not happen, so the additional one-game penalty was imposed.”

they are all gonna declaretotal games served will be zero

Hey, at least we're not Michigan.
You know what BigJohn... I dont even care that it is tOSU. This is systemic across all the Big Conferences/Teams in the NCAA and its money grab.If this was a 4 loss Rutgers or Nevada or Hawaii, it would be a different story. My sappy self would like to see a true sport of football being played, not a business.I dont think I'll watch any bowl games 'sides the Championship game. And it breaks my heart.

Do people really think Pryor is coming out? I'm not even sure he would be drafted at this point. His mechanics, decision making and accuracy are all still terrible. I don't know that staying in another year would help any of those though, so maybe that would play into the decision. But IMO, Pryor should be undrafted probably. Troy Smith was actually a better QB at this point.

I'm sure he would be drafted, but I would take Troy Smith over TP any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

well that may bebut he'll go somewhere, and missing 5 games then playing the rest is not going to improve his spot

so the only way i see going pro as not the right option is if there is no season next year

may as well start getting paid now

He's not getting drafted as a QB.

perhaps, but he'll get draftedand playing /12 of next season at QB is not likely to improve where he gets drafted or make it more likely he gets drafted as a QB

tebow and troy smith both did start at QB this year, so anything is possible

How hard up must you be to sell your big 10 championship ring. Continued exploitation of poor kids is going to continue producing this kind of conduct. The NCAA is being ridiculous, as usual.

They will all come out to the NFL. Games served will be zero. This type of stuff has been going on for YEARS at Ohio State. AJ Hawk once went to the police about several thousand dollars in cash stolen from his apartment. Clarrett had a similar story. How do you think they do that?

The tough thing for Pryor is the UFL is actually a pay cut from playing at Ohio St. His two role models are Lebron and Vick. The guy is going to be under heavy scrutiny in NFL interviews. Additionally, he's a less accurate Vince Young with a lower wonderlic score.

If he is getting paid that much, why did he have to sell his crap?

If a University gives a kid books as part of a scholorship, is it wrong for the kid to then sell the book after the semester is over?
If i were a player on schoalrship i'd err on the side of not being allowed to sell them back, that's for damn surethe universlty cannot give them cream cheese for their damn bagels after a morning workout, the NCAA has rules on ####, err on the side of caution
could they give the cream cheese to the player's dad?

does the kid know?and is the cream cheese flavored?

So Big Ben was accused of sexually assaulting two women and gets 5 games? The same suspension as if you sold ~2k of your belongings in college?

I'm not convince that he'll get drafted. It won't be as a QB so the Tebow and Smith comparisons don't work. Matt Jones is probably the closer comparison and I think teams would be hesitant to use a draft pick on such a long shot. Maybe I'm wrong and some team thinks his athletic potential is worth a 6th or 7th round pick. I'm not sure that he could actually improve his draft stock next year, but it's not like he'd make a whole lot more by coming out a year earlier anyway as a 6th or 7th round pick and with the potential for there not even being a season next year, there may not be ANY financial benefits. And I hate to say it being an OSU fan, but Pryor did himself a major disservice by choosing Ohio State over Michigan. He went to OSU because be wanted to develop into a pocket passer and try to be a first round draft pick. But he hasn't even come close to that. Be would has been much better served being an athletic QB in Rich Rodriguez's spread offense.

Looks like Braxton Miller won't have to wait a year after all.

ETA: And Jamal Berry will be better than Dan Herron.

Kinda where I'm at. First, to say they didn't know is a cop out but I guess as AD you have to say something to try and cover the program. But second, and more importantly to me, selling championship rings and gold pants just piss me off. I'm thinking there are some members of the current team and probably a fair number of alum that would love to kick Pryor et al square in the ### right now. Buncha idiots.

?Did they really disagree? Or decide not to move forward due to the evidence (or a he said vs she said type of case)?

They disagreed. Rape isn't dropped lightley. And you have other people who were investigated/questioned around both accusations who werent about to become an accomlice to rape when questioned by the police.

I am not going to hijack this thread into a Big Ben Got Away with Rape ... So I'll make my final statements regarding Ben's "innocence"1. You're a Steelers homer ... I am too. It's not the first time I encountered someone who blindly defends him without any regards to his history. But if this happened to your daughter, I'm sure you'd take a different stance.

2. It's not that the DA disagreed, it's that they could not prove that a crime took place. This is very common in sexual assault cases ... It sometimes turns into a he said she said ordeal especially since the woman was drunk. And given his financial stability to buy the best lawyer he can buy, the woman backed off. Still, this by no means that he is innocent. And we have no idea if he settled with the woman.

Obviously, Goodell, the Rooney's etc thought about this differently than you did. Ben was suspended for 6 games (eventually reduced) and the Rooney's threatened to trade him or outright release him. At no point did they "stand by their man."

So, Ben was suspended for violating league policy for 6 games, just one more than a bunch of kids who sold items for less than 2k a piece

O.J. was accused of MURDER and he didn't get suspended at all!! Weird, huh.
