College QB Carson Beck, Miami (2 Viewers)

Now entering the Transfer Portal for one more year of college ball.
Probably a good call on his part. He went from 1st rounder to day 3 guy over this past season, needs to rehab his resume a ton.

Agreed...this time last year he was potentially the top QB in this draft class...when looking at this draft and last year's for QB's the transfer route has worked out really well for Ward, Penix, Nix and Daniels as all four greatly enhanced their draft stock after transferring and became high first-round picks...Caleb also transferred but he was different since his value was already very high...Levis became a high second-rounder after going to Kentucky after two non-descript years at Penn State...Joe Milton and Rattller are two whose draft value wasn't helped by doing this...Ewers and Dart are still TBD...after looking at this you really see how different things are overall with the transfer portal.

I actually think this is a great development for the NFL.

Kids don't need to feel forced to get that contract even if it's Day 2 $$. They earn $$ that they're helping to generate while gaining more experience.

Win/Win in the new frontier of college football even if the system needs to be reigned in.

Is he just getting a gazillion dollars at Miami? Does he think their coach will be better for his NFL stock?

Hard to believe the starting QB at Georgia left for somewhere else.

Welcome to college football in 2025…the rules and norms of the past have changed.

There has to be more to this behind the curtain, although money is most likely the driving force in the decision.

I think his draft grade was plummeting and what he gets $$ wise at Miami is going to be better than his NFL rookie deal. Plus, if he balls out (unlikely in my opinion) then his draft stock might rise again. I dont like what it stands for, but I think its a smart decision for him.

College player with a Mercedes & Lamborghini ... Not the same as it used to be since NIL $$
We've all seen those videos of young professional players buying their parents a house and/or retiring them and it's wild to think college players have or will soon be doing this when they are years away from being draft eligible. Good for them.

Doesn’t look like his NFL QB career is going anywhere but he’s a nice looking guy that’s dating one of those twins that I can’t believe are still in college. They should be able to turn this into at a minimum 5 years. Get married and have kids add another 5-10. Good for him.

It's like people forgot that Carson Beck was considered the potential first pick of the draft headed into 2024. Last year wasn't good, but he still has traits and talent as we can see in this game. It helps to have better receivers as well.

Cody Carpentier
The shoulder and elbow look healthy - solid first half! Like you said though, having playmakers helps!!

Can run an offense and benefited from some nice speed at WR. Not the strongest arm but makes the best of it. I see more nfl potential with him than Arch.

The Arch story is obviously far from finished. I was impressed by Beck’s composure and decision making for the most part, but way too early to say what Archie can or cannot become imo.

Will probably have a nice 10 year backup career.
That's what I was thinking based on just last night. He made a big time throw on the run on the the first TD. Under pressure, he made several accurate throws, but the TD on the 1-handed catch was an ill-advised throw. The ND secondary and LBs are supposed to be very good, so we'll see.

He seems to have good pocket presence and they say he was calling out protections, those are good signs. PFF graded him 71, which they say was not bad vs ND's talent.

Watched the whole game tonight despite a 2 hour weather delay
He's good but I'm not sure he's NFL good.
He throws balls that put his WRs in spots where they have to slow down
He knows how to run an offense, there's no question, but he's no Cam Ward

Agree. And the UM oline is even better than last year. And despite losing their top 6 WRs, the receiving group is their best in over 20 years. Freshmen Toney and Moore look special, along with the transfers. Mario is a great recruiter. Beck is a Hesiman candidate, but a 3rd to 5th round draft pick, IMO.
