I think the Oklahoma game is defendable. That was an average game, with lots of bad luck. You certainly can't say that about Tennessee. That was a legit awful game. Now watch the Tennessee game...which was the worst QB performance by a Bama QB in the last 15 years. His inability to execute to mid-range wide open receivers is on display there. So, watching more than just a couple highlights, I actually didn't think Milroe was anywhere near as bad as his numbers looked against Oklahoma. His pass catchers were awful, with several drops. 2 of the INTs I'd say were not on Milroe at all. The pick-six was 100% on him. Now I'm not gonna claim he played a good game, but I think people look at the stats and get a worse impression than it really was. He had a nice deep TD throw where the WR couldn't stay in bounds.
He's inconsistent, sure. So are a lot of athletic QBs who go on to be successful in the NFL. I saw nothing in that game that made me think Milroe shouldn't be a 1st rounder, especially when contrasted with the majority of what I've seen the last 2 years.
I will say, I thought he was excellent (on low volume) against LSU, and especially early in the year against Georgia and Wisconsin.
I think overall, he's a good QB, with almost unlimited upside, but he's certainly not there right now. He's a guy who should probably sit in the NFL, but his ceiling is elite in my eyes. Somewhat like Lamar.
