College QB Jalen Milroe, Alabama (1 Viewer)

Possibly a more exaggerated Justin fields. Higher and lower.

His value in fantasy will be high. But I really don’t see his team winning many playoff games, even if he does start for many years.

Obviously this portal era is wild, but I don’t recall hearing this before re a QB getting drafted in the high rounds:

Funny we didn't hear that after his 2023 season though. Makes me question the validity of this statement, and wonder if it's just more pre-draft mind games. Either way, doesn't really move the needle for me on where I'm at on Milroe.

I think the change that stands out the most to be in the past two years came from Alabama losing Saban. On paper that looked more like the catalyst to their regression than Milroe.

And what we've heard about Bond, and gotten proof on about Jermaine Burton... hard to blame Saban for finally walking away amidst all the other changes in the way college football works. It's no indictment from me on NIL, reconferencing, playoff changes, etc. but I don't blame him not wanting to redo the way he's done everything the past 17 years at age 73 either.

There were some reports of the WRs being frustrated...and it showed on field late in the year in particular.

I guess I can't be surprised either way. He was a perplexing guy to scout. How his accuracy improved as the distance from the LOS increased on his throws was something I haven't really seen before. And it wasn't just like he became average and mid range and deep balls, he was above average to excellent there; I think neck and neck with Sheduer as best in this class. And then 9 yards and in he looked like he may have had better success shot putting the ball than throwing it.

But there was one or two games where he seemed to put it all together and looked like the best QB of this class by a mile (Georgia). I'm still torn on where to put him in my overall ranks and part of me hopes there's at least one guy in all my leagues that loves him so he goes early and I won't be faced with a tough decision.

Was discussing draft with my gaffer (who watches infinitely more college than me) and he flat out said this guy isn't a QB (assuming he means at an NFL level). Is he way off the mark?
