I agree with you. I want to like him more, but “unremarkable” is what floats through my head while watching him. That doesn’t mean he cannot be good, but I am not initially too excited about his prospects.there's something I'm just not in love with, and I'm not sure what. Obv overshadowed by perhaps the freakiest WR we've seen in ages, but something still... I like him, I do... Just not at the top.
If Godwin walks Egbuka and Burden will be mocked to the Bucs at #19 incessantly. If your team gets this guy as a WR2 then you’re getting a Godwin level WR2
I agree. He is very landing spot dependent for me. If he lands on a suspect offesne, I am going to have a hard time being excited for him. He seems like the kind of guy who can suceed in a good situation but isn't good enough to be a difference maker for a struggling offense.there's something I'm just not in love with, and I'm not sure what. Back half of the first? Then he’s looking at a good team/QB combo.I agree. He is very landing spot dependent for me. Yes back half looks good although Steelers and Cardinals don't give me the warm fuzzys.Back half of the first? Then he’s looking at a good team/QB combo.I agree. I guess if he drops to an early 2nd to a bad team/QB combo then you worry about that.

Emeka Egbuka comps in the Rookie Super Model:
Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Brandon Aiyuk
Yes Aiyuk played more outside, but similar adjusted production at similar aDOT.
The closest bust: Treylon Burks
Advanced data doesn't go back far enough to have a full view of Chris Godwin's collegiate career, but he is another name I would throw in there.
We don't have to confine ourselves to slot players o find Egbuka comps. He can play Z.
I agree, he isn’t dropping to the 2nd round of rookie drafts. People need to get that out of their head.I have a hard time believing Egbuka drops to the 2nd round in any league. He's pretty much universally considered a top 3 WR, and all it takes is one of the 12 guys in your league to think like the consensus. I guess we could say there are 2QB, 2TEs, 3WRs, and maybe 5RBs who are either a tier above or share a tier with him. So maybe 2.01? I won't be letting him get past 1.08 in any league I'm in.
NFL Draft Files
Emeka Egbuka should solidify himself as my WR2 at the combine.
His savviness as a route runner, fluid movement, ball tracking, and coordinated, reliable hands will impress scouts.
He is a prototype slot WR who will receive a lot of targets, similar to JSN or Amon-Ra St. Brown.
Don't know if we've ever seen a strong talent like him get sandwiched between 2 generational college talents like egbuka has.
and that makes him risky to evaluate.
How often do you have a WR who COULD be taken as early as #3 in fantasy drafts, who has really never suited up against #1 DBs at the college level? Ya, he's open all the time... But is that because he's actually that good, or because he's up against sloppy seconds?
What happens when he makes the move from college leftovers to #1/#2 DBs in the pros?

I would add that he is going against high-end talent in practice every day during his career.
He’ll be a solid 2 for a good team most likely. I don’t think he falls to the commanders but he’d be perfect there.I agree with you. Nope. I’m sitting at 4 and while I don’t think I take him there, he’s in consideration.he isn’t dropping to the 2nd round of rookie drafts.
Brian Thomas would have been top 3 most years. Recall that Terry McLaurin wasn’t the most highly touted OSU receiver in his draft class. I expect most colleges were putting their best DBs on Parris Campbell. TM’s done ok.What happens when he makes the move from college leftovers to #1/#2 DBs in the pros?

I think Emeka Egbuka is closer to Tet McMillan than he is to Golden and Burden in terms of draft value. Floor is significantly higher and he’s a more well rounded asset in 2-WR sets, too.
Connor Rogers
I’m with ya on that. Maybe the best blocking WR in the class too

Unless I'm misunderstanding your point... Ohio State doesn't have a single defensive talent going in the 1st round of this draft... In fact, emeka and simmons are probably the only 2 from Ohio going in the 1st. Not sure their DBs are world beaters, really... And even in practice, their best wouldve been on Marvin and Jeremiah...
Again, I like Emeka, I just have a lot of questions about him.
He makes a lot of sense for Pittsburgh but that would be a negative imo for his near term prospects. Maybe not huge but a knock nonetheless.I think, like in the movie Draft Day, Tomlin has written down Egbuka on a sticky note. He loves Ohio St guys, steelers NEED a WR, Pickens is no sure thing to be back in 2026, Egbuka can block(Steelers cherish that trait). I wouldnt be shocked to see them trade up for him.

3+ minutes of Ohio State WR Emeka Egbuka cooking on All-22 to the greatest song of all time.
• Safest prospect in the Draft. But make no mistake, the ceiling is NOT limited. Immediate impact player in the NFL.
Hope you enjoy…

I think he goes anywhere between 1.06-1.10 in 1QB dynasty draftsIt is funny that people think Egbuka is average or has a good floor but a low ceiling. He has shown growth every year at Ohio State, and I think he showed last season that his talent level has risen and that he has room to grow in his professional career. Just like any prospect, where he goes will matter, as will who he's paired with, from quarterback to offensive coordinator and head coach. The kid can catch. His routes have improved. He may need to work on separation a bit more. He will not create space with his routes but has a knack for getting open.
I hope he drops in rookie drafts so I have a shot at him, but depending on his landing spot, I can't see getting a shot at him.
I see him falling to the late first unless he lands in a pretty good spot. I'm thinking 1.10- 1.12. I see both tight ends going before him. Warren, for sure. Loveland also has a shot, but the shoulder could keep Loveland going after Egbuka. Egbuka has a profile that people will love to knock. Maybe I'm just being hopeful that he could land on my squad.I think he goes anywhere between 1.06-1.10 in 1QB dynasty draftsIt is funny that people think Egbuka is average or has a good floor but a low ceiling. He’s so well spoken. Gosh darn it I need another WR like I need another hole in my head but if he’s available at my spot (TBD), I’m gonna be really tempted.

#4 Emeka Egbuka: “He’s got really good hands and great instincts. He’s got good vision and he’s physical with the ball in his hand. He’s tough. He’s just not a speed demon like the guys we’ve known down through the years. Second round makes total sense. Good football player. You can put him at X or the slot. You want him as a matchup problem because he’s got size and he’s physical.”
“He’s a solid second-rounder,” a second scout said. “There’s no flash to him or anything like that. He’s a second or third receiver. I don’t think he’s a go-to guy. He doesn’t make anything wow.” Five-star recruit from Steilacoom, Wash. “He’s like Jaxon Smith-Njigba but not as good,” a third scout said. “He’s a slot guy. Not very explosive. Good hands, not much run after the catch. He’s OK. He’s a third guy.”

Got times of 4.47 and 4.49 for Ohio State WR Emeka Egbuka from two teams on the ground at the Buckeyes Pro Day. A little faster than expected—a really good time for a big, physical slot receiver.
Egbuka's got a great shot to land in the first round.
No, dynasty. We haven’t run draft order yet (lottery based, with the weighting determined by order of finish) but I should get somewhere between 1.6 to 1.10 unless I’m either very lucky or very unlucky. And I need a RB more than anything else.Redraft? He’s so well spoken. I think he's 100% Amon-Ra-esque. Only thing we need to be honest with ourselves about is Amon-Ra wouldn't be what he is now if he landed on one of a dozen other NFL teams. Lions utilize his talents to pretty much max benefit.feels Amon-Ra esqueIt is funny that people think Egbuka is average or has a good floor but a low ceiling.
