Colts - Saints (1 Viewer)

Way early and one game does not a season make.

But what'd you learn?

Addai looks as good as hoped.

Bush did not.

Indy looked a LOT more physical than New Orleans.

What else?

what he said

Colts D looked aggressive. Bob Sanders is a stud. Indy’s corners played excellent. Colston looked average. D. Henderson showed nothing. McAllister looked good when given a chance. Bush dances around too much. Brees looked frustrated.

Forgot to mention the Colts.

Manning to Wayne & Harrison is running full throttle week 1

Addai is on his way to being a RB1

Dallas Clark looked good too

Their Tackle Ugoh (sp?) got burned several times

The Saints could not get anything going deep, dropped too many passes, pass blocked poorly, got away from the run too early, had a bad gameplan, etc...

I would hold off flushing them down the toilet a few weeks though.

As for the Colts, Manning is good, the defense looks very sharp, and you must be able to rush the passer to beat them. I see only a handful of teams that can beat them, so basically, same bat time same bat channel.

The Saints would have gotten smoked just as bad in the Super Bowl. They wish they playing against Jason David instead of with him. Deuce looked crisp a few times, too bad they couldn't establish the run more.

Freddie Keiaho is the next IDP to win the fantasy lottery of being in the right place at the right time to get the Dungy WLB job. After giving owners a scare, Addai looks every bit a top 5 pick many had him pegged as. Manning is still good.

1) Addai is a player.. can easily be a RB1

2) the Colts D is better than advertised... aggressive and run D is improved

3) Harrison still has it

4) Henderson and Colston may not have so mant long receptions this year

5) NBC halftime show is horrible

6) Dungy is in ths same plane as MLK :kicksrock:

7 Eric Johnson is worth keeping an eye on

Deuce will barely see the field in games the Saints are down...as the Saints will force feed Bush to the tune of 3yds per touch.

Great thread Joe

1. People should not be automatically starting Deuce McAllister every week...I touched on it in the 1st RB exploit/avoid thread but Deuce was not going to be running the clock out on Indy.

2. Bush is making a lot of mistakes. He should have gotten a 1st down on a pass in the 1st quarter but he got too cute and ended up making the Saints have to run it on 3rd and 1...he of course took that handoff and got a 1st down but Sean payton was livid after the 2nd down play. Bush also dropped an easy ball in the 2nd quarter.

3. Manning, Harrison, and Wayne do great things.

4. Addai didn't do anything special but he sure did rack up yds and TD tonight.

5. Tony Ugoh...

Indy D is good.

Dallas Clark is good.

Kenton Keith is worth keeping an eye on.

Joe Addai has arrived.

Reggie Bush can only run effectively on mis-direction or trick plays.

Addai - top 5 RB (it's still the Saints D)

Manning - 35-40 TD's

Bush - top 5 bust

NFC - sucks balls

Honestly, not much about the Colts except that their defense wasn't an illusion during the playoffs. With Sanders and their LB's healthy their defense is very active and stout.

New Orleans simply had a bad night against a better team, though I expected more out of their offense.

Anthony Gonzalez is not a viable fantasy #3 or #4 WR. Not that I ever though he would be, but many people were hoping & drafting him to fill that role.

That Reggie Bush should be a WR.

And that if other teams adopt this style of play vs Nawlins (drop back and leave the under open) that they don't abandon the run so soon. Feed the Deuce!

I saw an offense that seemed to FORCE the ball to Bush. Nothing was smooth or unexpected..They have too much talent to do that. The NO offensive line on passing downs was Very bad. Brees could be in for a long season if it doesnt turn around..

Passing on Wayne for SA in one league and for Harrison in another may have been a huge mistake.

Besides that, the Colts D was highly under-rated/under-valued and clearly could become a top 5. They was they played from the start of the game to the finish surprised me more than anything.

I'm not sure if NE has enough fire power for them.

Reggie Bush may not necessarily be a very good fantasy RB, especially in non-PPR leagues. I don't see him with many 100-yd games, let's put it that way. There are other RBs that also get a lot of catches, but they are the primary ball carrier for their team and Bush is not.

Colts Defense won't be on the waiver wire by week 2

Drew Brees has the reputation for being a very good decision maker. That was not the case tonight.

Eric Johnson - 8 recs for 56 yards. The 8 recs was impressive

Manning makes everyone around him better. He found the weakness (Jason David) and exploited it, especially in the 2nd half.

Joseph Addai - I had him ranked as the #3 RB and tonight he proved me right so far. If he has games like that every week, he'll keep that ranking

Wayne and Harrison - One play can make or break a good fantasy week from them. Fortunately for their owners there are a lot of opportunities for that one play and in many cases 2 or 3 plays. They are definitely worthy of being in the top 5 among WRs.

4. Addai didn't do anything special but he sure did rack up yds and TD tonight.
This is correct.Addai did fine, but with the terrible LB play of the Saints, anything less than 100 on 23 carries would have been a shocker. Addai did just fine, don't get me wrong, but this game doesn't answer the main questions. We'll know more in about 7-8 games; that's when we'll learn if he's still running strong midway through the season and has churned out yards against tough Ds. One thing I do know: saying he's arrived and will be fine all year off a game when New Orleans D looked like it barely got off the bus is too premature. He jumps and dances too much, and definitely runs too high, for me to believe he's a lock to keep this up all year. Injury or wear and tear could easily slow him down.Easy to love him tonight, but I'd be selling high if I had him. :goodposting:

Oh, and the Colts only have 4 players on their team that have played for other NFL teams, which is unheard of and is a testament of their drafting team..........simply outstanding.

I learned something I should have learned 20 years ago.

Thou shalt not covet *ordinary* players.

I happened to be playing against Devery Henderson last season when he had his one HUGE game against Tampa. He had something like 24 points.... well over 100 yards and two long scores. That stuck in my head and I made it a point to get him on most of my teams.

PFFFFFFFFFFT :goodposting:

Granted I didn't exactly sit Jerry Rice in his prime in order to start Henderson, but I did start him instead of Braylon Edwards and Patrick Crayton. If either of those guys has a big game this week, I'll be pretty pissed.
