Comedian Louis CK admits to sexual harassment of several women (1 Viewer)

So we’re going to allow the 100 or so people in attendance to speak for society as a whole?
I have no idea what you are trying to say here, I was only pointing to the post I quoted that he got a standing ovation.

I think you are implying he should be back at work but not sure.

My wife describes this in a way that I have not seen anybody in here say, so I will share.

Was Louis CK asking to masturbate in front of female executives or even Sarah Silverman or Amy Schumer? Was Kevin Spacey grabbing the junk of ranking producers/directors or other A-list actors? And the answer is always no. There is a reason why these people choose the victims that they do.
this is a very good point, btw.

did he talk about his perversion in the new set? unlike the rest, CK's a guy that could shine some proper light on what that inner mechanism is, which gives him value the others whom i'm happy to let blow their gig with their behavior dont have

FALLON: So you're back from rape jail

LOUIS CK: That's right. (laughing) That's right. I'm back from rape jail.

FALLON: (laughing way too hard)

CK: Yknow, didn't love it in there. And really who does?

FALLON: (still laughing) right, right. And you've got a new special coming out

From what I've read he didn't even mention it. Which a lot of people are not happy about, either. I get that his exile is never going to be long enough for some people. But I'm kind of on the side of those who think if he's going to venture back out there, he better be willing to address what he did.

He missed a great opportunity to capitalize & make jokes at his own expense.

And how should he do that exactly? How is he to appease the offended? Realize, he could donate everything he owns to a women's shelter, volunteer there 6 days a week, shove a spear into Harvey Weinstein's chest and some people are not going to be happy. So what should he do?

Didnt he address it at the time?

Perhaps you missed where I wrote this:

So why should he continue to?

Personally I think he probably sits down with someone and goes through his story and that will be it.  Joe Rogan, Marc Maron, something like that
Probably.

He did something most don't. He admitted to it and acknowledged it was wrong. Then he went away. Is he never supposed to make a living again? Convicted felons get that chance. He will never please everyone. At some point, he needs to go out and earn and will do so with those that are forgiving. The offended may never forgive (or even stop being offended), so now he won't sell as many tickets as before.

If CK didn't make it part of his routine in his comeback, i am as offended as a former comedy writer as a customer. CUZ THAT"S WHAT HE DUZ, that's why we care about him at all - he takes what's in his guts & noggin and tells how he makes his way thru the world we all share with that. He can have secrets, as we all do but, once they're out, he gotta deal, plain & simple. He dont get to be what he was before. My hope was in seeing him as the one caught celeb who could make sumn of that.

Joe: So you haven't done comedy in niiine months. That's crazy, maan.

Louis: Yeah, it was a pretty rough time, I--

Joe: Did you try a sensory deprivation tank?

Louis: Well, no I--

Joe: Kill an elk?

Louis: ...

Joe: Who do you think is going to win Ferguson/Pettis?

Drew Magary had a pretty good article a year ago  in QG about how "honest/personal" comedians are fundamentally dishonest, in that they only really tackle things that they're comfortable with. They might be more comfy than average than your average civilian, but like everyone else, there are depths that everyone's unwilling to plumb.

The real question is who did Louis bump?

NeverEnough likes this
One of the most appropriate "likes" we've seen.  It's @NeverEnough

Maybe he's saving it until he's worked his way back to a bigger audience, like his next big HBO/Netflix show or arena tour.

I refuse to let Louis CK ruin one of my fav hook-up scenarios in which a guy jerks off in front of a lady CONSENSUALLY. Sometimes I want you to have a good time, but I don’t want to touch it and I still reserve that right.

CK:  I watch a lot of porn, ya know, in my free time... and one of my favorite genre's is JOI... that's "Jerk off instructions" for those not in the know.... and I like JOI a lot, but I can never keep up with their commands.  I mean, a woman doesn't really know how it feels anyway so how can she give accurate instructions, you know?  So the girl is all, "uhhhhh, could you please stop and put that away"... and I'm all blocking the doorway pounding away like a judge trying to bring order in the court.  ORDER ORDER! bang bang bang!  You're in contempt!

If he addresses it in his routine, he'll get skewered by some as profiting from the incidents.  Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.

I'd hazard a guess those would mostly be the same people who don't think he should come back anyway.

Louis: Uh. Pettis has pretty good stand...

Joe: so this is how you make dmt

He's made like $30 million dollars doing comedy. I'm not at all concerned about how how Louis CK "makes a living". He's already made several.

Doesn't matter how much he's made. He has a right to earn more. That's pretty much what this country is based on. If you want to be offended by him and refuse to give your hard earned dollars (that you have every right to earn), then don't give them and skip his show. If someone else chooses to be entertained by a guy that jerked off in front of people he had power over and then owned up to, then they can do that. It's not your place to tell them they should do otherwise.

I think I have a right to say whatever I want about his career. Also, I don't think he is here reading this so I am not telling him anything at this point.

Then he doesn't need to address it at all. He's not going to please the offended. And those that aren't offended just want to be entertained and would rather he just do his routine than get up on stage and perform an act of penance.

if he dont deal, i wouldnt go to a show if only not to have to listen to the 20 minutes of handling "take it off, baby" and "yeah, rub that out" and "jerkoff" heckles there's gonna be forever.

ETA: not to mention snowflake outbursts

So these clowns hate him so much they will pay him money to go to his show just to shout out bs & get tossed? Those folks need a life.

Does the man ever get to resume making a living again? I get the ostracising that he has endured, but how long does he have to sit on the sidelines before he is allowed back to try and earn some money on his craft?
