He commishes at least two other paying leagues that I am aware of: 4th and Goal Dynasty and Gridiron Elite Dynasty League, all MFL. I won the league that he commish called 1st & 10 Dynasty, but he hasn't been on the site in over 2 weeks, except briefly for a few minutes but did not answer any questions that had been posted for him.

He has been a member here for almost 5 years and just checking if anyone knows what is going on with him, I have heard that he might be going thru a divorce, but that is no excuse for not handling his duties as commish.

Looking for advice on how to handle this situation. He owes me $800 for winning our superbowl, but I know other owners in our league who have paid him for next year, and I feel really bad for them.

Was going to post him full last name but I don't know if that is ethical or not. It is a shame when you can't enjoy winning a superbowl, they don't come too easily or often and this was a super tough league with some great owners who I will miss not playing with next year.

Kevin
It's Tuesday...goin into Wednesday. Give they guy some time, the league just ended last night. Really no need to call someone out. Maybe he had a family emergency or had XMas shopping to do. It is that time of the year.... christ.

If he's going through a divorce you may want to cut him a little slack. He may just not be checking the site very frequently. Why not just pop him an email and notify him that you won.

Wow, man. Get some perspective.I'm taking a minute away from wrapping gifts to surf the net. It's a crazy busy time of year for most plus he might be going thru a divorce. Personally I think that's a great excuse for taking a couple of extra days to contact you about your winnings.

Merry freakin' Christmas.

Hopefully everything works out OK for you but I don't know if giving your money to some guy you've never met before is a great idea, you may have just learned that the hard way.

I am not calling him out. I would be willing to work out any arrangement with him that he likes, but we have been emailing him, no replies, he briefly logged in one day on the site 5 days ago and took off some personal info, such as his cell phone #. I will be the 1st guy to cut him some slack, all he has to do is give us a headsup of his situation.

I love how everyone here is preaching patience when the commish hasn't been around for two weeks and the guy is owed $800. Divorce or not, presents or not...an e-mail saying "Congrats man, I'll get with you later for the money" is too much to ask?

People here sure are tolerant with other people's money.

I'm owed some money in a couple of leagues and haven't heard from either commish as of yet. I'm busy as Hell this time of year and I assume the same of them even though both are (as far as I know) happily married. When I get through the holidays, I'll shoot them each an e-mail if I haven't heard from them.

I kinda practice what I preach.

Edit to add: Back to wrapping gifts. Happy holidays everybody. :goodposting:

Thanks for this reply, I was feeling like the bad guy with some of the other responses, but you hit the nail right on the head. Thank You!

So after about 10 posts you got the answer you wanted to hear and you're happy now.............. :goodposting: . Seriously man, the fantasy season ended yesterday. Cut the commish a little slack here.............

Let me ask you a question, would you cut your commish "slack", if he hasn't answered any email for 2 weeks, hasn't responed to any messages on the site for 2 weeks, but out of the blue, 5 days ago, he logs on, just to delete some information off the site, such as his cell phone #?If he hadn't logged on 5 days ago just to delete his cell #, then I probably would have way more patience than I am showing now.

This is a good point. The lesson I learned is to read your entire post before responding............... :kicksrock: . I missed the detail about him logging in 5 days ago to remove information. Not sure what you can do about this but I feel for you man. Thats a lot of money.

Shame on you if at least one other owner doesn't know this guy well enough to be able to make immediate contact.

At this point, who knows if he's an embezzler OR just someone going through a lot of personal pain at the moment.

Either way, quit whining.

I'd be a bit spooked, too, if I were the OP and everything went down just as he says it did.

Does MFL actually display to commoners that the Commish logged in to remove personal info?

Or, are you gleaning this solely based on the fact that he logged in at that time and you have some kind of recollection that the info has been there in the past?

You might want to do a Google cache search ASAP within your leagues' URL.

1) Find the page from which you believe the infor was expunged.

2) Paste that URL into Google search, prepending http with site: and search.

3) Clicke the CACHED link below the search results.

May get you what was removed. May not. But it will tall you what day it cached the page on.

Maybe he is going through a divorce, and canceled his family cellular plan.

Maybe he's moving to Fiji on your $800.

Maybe he bilked dozens of leagues!

Maybe he invested your league's money with Madoff, hoping to make a quick buck.

Maybe your league's money got comingled with his money and spent by his wife.

Dude hasn't posted here since October 5.

Good Luck!

Hopefully everything works out OK for you but I don't know if giving your money to some guy you've never met before is a great idea, you may have just learned that the hard way.
What he said. Look at it this way. You didn't lose $800. You lost your entry fee. The $800 was just a fantasy.

Maybe your league's money got comingled with his money and spent by his wife.
That's my guess. Very few people set up separate accounts for their FF fees they've collected, they simply deposit them in their personal checking account and hopefully earmark the $ or just remember not to spend it. Many of the guys I know going through a divorce have their bank account wiped clean by their soon to be ex if they don't get to it first. (As a lawyer in the Army, I know more guys going through a divorce than I'd like to.) Expect to not get your money, deal with that possibility and hope for a better outcome.

He probably followed the FBG advice, and started hiding money some weeks ago.

Now he can't remember where he hid it.

I feel bad for ya bud. Several people around here joined 3 or 4 leagues that "Brian Smith" commished, and he took off with everyone's money. Amazing how some piles of #### that walk the earth can do that type of thing without any regret.

If he did start leagues and run with the $ then he needs to be hunted down by FF players worldwide

I agree you may be jumping the gun since it's only been a couple days. This site might help to retrieve that cell # though. You can plug in the web address and it should show archives of each time the page was updated.http://www.archive.org/web/web.php

lolSome clown running AFFL ripped guys off around here to the tune of 5 figures plus in some cases. Here's how things will play out. Guys will act tough on this message board but do nothing about it. The commish will end up blowing the money at the beach buying cocktails for chicks he tapping. He'll raise a toast in your honor as a sign of appreciation. The whole thing will be forgotten in six months.

Is there a reason why people continue to send money to strangers they only know through internet message boards, and then become surprised when it doesn't work out how they had envisioned? Especially people sending in money prepaying for future years?!

I'm sure the guy is just busy with the holidays, but sometimes this whole sending money to strangers thing doesn't quite work out very well. If you do it you do it knowing the chance you're taking. If the guy runs off or you never get your money, don't go crying to anyone else because you knew the risk going in.

This is the "American Way". It is probably the corner stone of American Society.

 It's actually a pretty good (and scumbag) scheme if you can pull it off right. Spend a few years building cred up on different FFB Forums, run a few good leagues for a couple of seasons with solid players and pay outs. Then plan one blockbuster score and make out with a sweet five figure pay day.

I dont know about you ....but 800.00$ would come in pretty handy at x-mas time...i would be pissed also

Smizzy is in one of my dynasty leagues and was last on the website 11 days ago. I sent his cell # to the OP thru pm. He's not the commish and there is no $$ involved so I can't speak either way about the guy. Hopefully he's just tied up and hasn't had time to respond but to me it's irresponsible to not keep in touch with the league winners when there is $$ involved. I hope this works out for the OP.

Hopefully, as is the case with AFFL, people won't KEEP SENDING THEM THEIR MONEY!!!!

But I go by one rule with regards to issues like this.... Real life before Fantasy.

No it's not. If we were talking about the loss of a loved one it would be different. Even if that happened to me I would still let the person that I have $$ for know that it would be be sent. It's called accountability. We all have issues to deal with but aside from this guy being on his deathbed there's no excuse for not sending out an e-mail explaining the situation. A divorce sucks but it's no excuse. :lmao:

I'm surprised you don't know this.... Smizzy is the owner of Jetnation, a Jets fan web site here:

He won't be hard to find now....

PS: It is possible he sold it off... I don't see his screen name there. I haven't spoken to him or posted at that site for quite a while now, but for a fact, he WAS the owner of that site.

Then he has definitely gone underground... his screen name there was also Smizzy for years... Max, the head mod is very tight with this guy. Good luck.

This really gets under my skin, not just for anyone who lost $, but I'm trying to start a new redraft IDP League, and these scammers are making it much more difficult. Now, I have to go to extremes, like perhaps even sending voided personal and business checks to potential owners I am trying to recruit, along with a biz card and other proof of my business ownership, home address (which I would give anyway, as I insist on snail mail and checks for a paper trail) listed home phone land line number, etc.

LOL... BTW, if you are interested, look here... http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index...howtopic=449697

PS: Maybe the only safe way to do on-line leagues is... can't believe I am about to say this... set up an escrow account? Has it come to that?

Here is how I see it:

In his defense:

1. Divorces are very ugly and tend to create all sorts of financial problems. As mentioned earlier, chances are any "joint" accounts have been locked up, and so are any FF league fees that were deposited.

2. If the guy was really out to swindle everyone, why in the heck would he wait to the end of the season to do it? Once the money is in the bank, the swindle is done, there is no reason to create the appearance that he actually cares about who wins the whole thing.

3. There are a hell of a lot of people who are currently without power or internet access due to recent storms in the northern part of the country, so he may not be able to access and respond to e-mail correspondence.

However, communication is the key to being a commissioner. If he is running into financial hardship, he needs to let people know when he intends to make things right. If he can't access the web directly, he should be contacting someone who can to provide the update.

And in the end, if he made off with the winnings, he is a complete buffoon for risking a felony conviction of mail fraud for $800 (or even $8,000)!!!

Good luck in getting this settled and if I were you, I wouldn't worry about this until after enjoying your holidays!

This doesn't wash. His league mates have been trying to reach him for 2 weeks, and he signed into their league site 5 days ago, only to remove his cell #.

1. Possible, but an explanation and asking for an extention for prize payouts would resolve the issue, at least temporarilly.2. Agreed, I don't think he set out to swindle anyone... but now it looks like it may have become his plan B.3. He has power. He lives on Long Island as I do. The condemning fact is that he removed his personal info from several places, all at the same time. You don't do that unless you intend to disappear. He disappeared. He even changed his own screen name at the site he owns! If it smells like it, looks like it, I don't think you need to taste it.
