I am commish of a keeper league that has been around for about 10 years. Throughout the lifespan of the league we've adopted new rules, became a keeper, became ppr, added roster spots and starter sizes etc. This year we switched to Victory Points scoring. A little issue has arisen with regard to Divisional Winners and Tie Breakers for Divisional Winners...
The tie breaker rules that are on our main board were carried over from last year prior to Victory Point Scoring. The 'tie' for that situation would have been each team's overall record, which superceded everything else. So the first tie breaker is head to head, then Div record, then Points Scored. That's how its written; Admittedly, this was an oversight in setting up the league rules for VP this year, as I didn't modify the tie breaker rules that were already in place from the previous years.
I would think that in the case of two teams having the same Victory Points, the tie breaker for divisional winner should be, in order: overall record, head to head, divisional record, points scored.
Now that Victory Points supercede everything, it makes sense that the next in line would be overall record, as that previously superceded everything else. It doesn't make sense that the overall record isn't factored into the standings.
While I understand that the rules written say one thing, I think the spirit of the rule is fairly obvious and the fact that this rule is a carry-over from last year is also obvious.
This has the possibility of affecting who wins my division..of course its me vs another guy.
Anyone have an opinion on this?
