All of the leagues I play in allow you to activate or deactivate a player up to 5 minutes before their respective game time. I am not aware of any FF website that CANT do this. If you commish a league that forces owners to declare their lineups for the entire weekend before Thursday...WHY?
Many people talk about how FF tries to emulate the NFL (that's why we have kickers, 1 QB, 2 RBs, etc.) - in the real NFL a coach doesn't have to make a call on a player Thursday for a Sunday or Monday game. That's just silly.
Back in the days of newspaper scoring and phone call lineups, sure. But in a time when virtually every fantasy league is run via websites that can do exactly that? All it does is put an artificial barrier (one that has no good reason to exsist) in place for good lineup decisions.
Honestly, if your league has that stipulation, I would have that be first and foremost on offseason changes up for discussion. Such a deadline serves no useful purpose.
It reminds me of the 4 year old girl who is watching her mother prepare the ham for Christmas dinner. Her mom cuts off the end of the ham as she sets in a huge roasting pan, throws the end away and puts the ham in the oven. "Mommy, why did you cut the end off?" the 4 year old quieries. "That's what grandma always did when I was growing up. Why don't you go ask her?" So the 4 year old wanders into the living room where Grandma is sipping her Christmas egg nog. "Grandma, why did you used to cut off the end of the ham?". The Grandma smiles and replies, "Well, we only had one pan, and it was kind of small, so I had to cut off the end of the ham so it would fit in the pan." You see, the mother only did what she had seen done, without regard to the reason.
STOP WITH THE DEADLINE THAT SERVES NO PURPOSE. It's not funny. It's not.
If you actually think you have a reason, please feel free to post it below. Retorts will be plentiful.
