Concerts thread - FBG's lovin' live music, we're back in action! (2 Viewers)

Saw Noah Kahan at MSG last night with the wife. She loves him and had a great time. I thought he was solid, seemed humble and happy to be there, songs are fine, singer songwriter with an edge, I kind of think of him as Vance Joy with bigger testicles. Would see again but probably not on a weekday.

I really needed some live music in my life as I've missed a handful of small shows recently that I had some interest in.

This Friday, moe. and Daniel Donato. Foo Fighters next Thursday. Then following weekend 3 nights of Phish at Deer Creek. Pretty pumped.
Do you ever do the Phish weekend in Mexico?

I suck, I really should be going to see the Rolling Stones tonight at Levi but I'd need a nap before the hour and a half drive in traffic and I just don't have it in me this week.

Looking forward to the Foo Fighters 8/13, definitely teleworking that day and taking the next day off so that I can enjoy the damn show

I have not but continue to consider it.

We do Dave & Tim, 3rd year in a row. It's so awesome. Definitely should do it.

Live Nation has a 4 ticket for $80 promo going on, check out what's eligible near you. No fees on top of the $80. Just picked up 4 for Drive By Truckers.

Really good show last night. Skipped Uncle Cracker. Megan Moroney was good although sound was a bit muffled. Zac Brown was phenomenal. Aside from all his hits he did covers of Charlie Daniels, Eagles, and the Beastie Boys. Man - they are musicians. Kenny Chesney put on a great set. 56 and still flying around the stage. Shirt was soaked. Amazing he never loses his breath when signing. Surprise guest was Kelsea Ballerini. Came out and did 2 songs. Really fun show for the summer.

Ive seen Zac several times, always puts on a fun show

Drove up from San Diego for this show (traffic was terrible) but found a local who uses his property for people to park. Best $35 I ever spent on parking and will keep him on speed dial for future Kia/ Sofi events. 10 minute walk to Sofi. First time at Sofi for a concert and was in section c244. Sounds was good for ZBB and Megan but horrible for Kenny. I read some reviews previously that the place echos so I think I will need to be on the floor for any shows moving forward. Having said all of that, the concert was great.

Hmmm. I thought sound was great for Zac and Kenny but I couldn’t make out what Megan was singing. I sat on the floor for Kenny’s last show at SoFi and don’t recommend it. One bathroom and one bar. Took forever to get a drink. Like 1st level 100X better.

Benefit of the club section - lots of bathrooms and concessions so virtually no wait.

Jack White doing a couple small shows in GA next week. Wish I could go but have other travel plans that take precedence. I don't know about the Atlanta venue but 40 Watt in Athens is a cool place to see a show.

I haven’t booked this one yet but every tour Def Leppard does I’ve heard nothing but great things (especially compared to the likes of Motley Crue).
We saw them 2 years ago in Pittsburgh and they were GREAT

Saw them last night and the band was great again. Something was wrong with Joe’s Mike though…. Sounded…muffled? Was disappointing

Whole family went to Foo Fighters Thursday. Now that was a rock concert. Grohl is an incredible front man. Pretenders opened and were pretty good.

Friday saw Ekootik Hookah, a jamband from Ohio that has been around since the early 90's, although there are a couple younger guys now in the band. They can still bring it, was a great time.

Awesome. Seeing them on 8/11 in LA. Bucket list for me. Been trying to see them for 5 years

Just snagged tickets for Live / STP in a couple of months. Live is one of my favorite bands. I really love their less popular songs like Pillar of Davidson, Operation Spirit, Iris, etc. It's not the original lineup... I think only Ed the singer remains. Too bad they could not get along. Mental Jewelry and Throwing Copper were such great albums. Complete self destruction much like Oasis.

I know live music and shows is always better but if you go on Youtube, you can typically see the shows that are touring from somewhere near the stage that you ain't getting to sit in when you attend for all this money they charge.

-The visual and audio quality is pretty good and you can see sometimes 1st hand if tickets are going to be worth $250 or whatever they're charging
I'm lazy and cheap, if I can watch a high quality video of the entire show shot from just a few rows back for free...our my own alcohol and smoke weed freely in my living room, ez ez

Damn just missed out on Jack White tickets. He’s doing a small show Monday in Detroit (venue capacity is like 1000)

Went to add them to my cart and poof, gone.

Not a huge deal I am sure he will do a proper tour for the new album but would have been a cool show

Journey/Def Leppard and Creed/3 Doors Down coming up in a couple weeks, 2 days apart. Excited to go.

Saw Staind earlier this year, they always kick ###

Gwen Stefani/Alanis Morissette on Harriet Island was also good

While generally not this thread’s jam, super excited for back to back Fridays. See Chevelle in Grand Rapids, MI on Friday night of this week and hoping to get picked for the VIP tequila tasting and meet and greet after. Then, back home just outside of Detroit to see Candlebox, Jerry Cantrell and Bush. Really only going to see Jerry as I saw him as a headliner a year and a half ago and have seen Alice 3 times over the same span and he is still such an amazing artist.

That second one would be a fun show but I don’t think I can squeeze it in

I saw Ben Folds last week. Just him and his piano.

Called the paper airplane request tour. He plays 10-ish songs of his choice then at the intermission, fans write song requests on paper airplanes and throw them on stage.

For the 2nd set he randomly picks up a paper airplane and plays the song unless he doesn’t know it or has already played it that night.

It was a fantastic show. If you’re a fan, go see it if he is playing near you.

Damn nice set list, bummed I missed this

Tedeschi Trucks last night, that’s a talented band.
It’s cool that all the backup singers / horn section get a little feature time. Wicked drum solo too between the 2 drummers. Did that thing where they take it down super quiet, whole place was nearly silent expect for a few dumbasses yelling “we love you”

Margo Price opened, she’s a bit more country but she was really good too

Getting ready to grab Blink-182 tickets for tonight, debating between grossly overpaying or taking a risk on limited view seats. From what I’ve seen they aren’t too bad because it’s a 360 stage

Went to see Foo Fighters and Pretenders in LA. BMO is a cool venue. Smaller, great acoustics.

Pretenders - Chrissie Hynde is absolutely phenomenal at 72. Voice sounds exactly the same. I mean identical to back in the day. She kicked a$$. Terrific set and what a band she has put together. I think she’s the best female rocker of all time and for all the accolades is still underrated. I would have gone for the Pretenders alone.

Foo Fighters - bucket list for me since I have tried to see them for 5 years. COVID, cancellations etc. I knew their hits but that’s it. Wasn’t a rabid fan. Show was mixed for me. Great energy, Grohl a phenomenal front man, 3 hours. But outside the hits it was a lot of repetitive screaming and that’s not in my musical wheelhouse. Respected the music more than I loved it. Don’t know if I would see them again but they sure had their hard core fans in attendance.

I mainly only knew Pretend We’re Dead back in the day but I recently added more songs to my library and they have some good stuff

FWIW my wife hates female punk type of stuff. Anytime it comes on she yells at me to turn those screechy bitches off

Speaking of, the Blink 182 concert did not disappoint from an eye candy standpoint, although for every good there were probably 5 bad
