Chicago kind of sucks now. It's getting very expensive. Traffic is brutal. The long winter is pretty taxing. That said, we have glorious summers and great pro teams (mostly).

I'd go with Boulder or Austin over the rest honestly. Nashville is lame. NOLA is good but not for everyone. Also the sports teams suck lately.

Not boring if you're into drinking and banging Tech girls 7 night's a week ..

(Yes,  had a good time everytime visiting buddies out there during in college)
fine if you ever said to yourself i wish i was as cool as moneysleeper then bam move to nebraska take that to the bank bromigos

Probably won't make me popular but I've done a good amount of weekend tripping to Nashville (lived 2 hours away in Chattanooga for a while) and found it to be somewhat overrated.  Always felt to me like a bunch of desperate late 20's/early 30's crowd who had settled down in the burbs and wanted to strap on some cowboy boots and pretend like they were in college again.  I guess if you're single that could work to your advantage, but the music scene had more of a super crowded sticky floors that smell like 4 day old beer and plastic cups vibe than a chill hang out and listen to some good tunes with a nice pint vibe.  Maybe I'm just old.

If I were choosing from this list it would be Boulder by a mile.  Great town, great beer, great outdoor sports, great scenery (of both the nature and female variety).

For your interests Austin has to be a big consideration as well, given the BBQ and music.

I do Archaeology related work
The history of Indiana Jones has a close connection to the University of Chicago,” Brinker said. Jones himself was not a professor at Chicago. He taught at two fictional schools — Marshall College in Bedford, Conn. and Barnett College in Fairfield, N.Y. — according to the storyline.

I've lived in NO & Austin. Love them both.

The economic diversity is better in Austin but things have been booming here on the entrepreneurial front since Katrina. It just depends in what you're interested in doing. We don't have traditional financial or tech sectors by and large. Austin not unlike Dallas and Houston have a much more modern economy.

I love both for the culture. If your career is not on a high finance/industry level and want to have a good time, then NO is a better city IMO and like I said I've lived in both. Though of course Austin has lots to do and is a very fun city with great food, great music and gorgeous girls.
