Love Dickerson for you guys, maybe haven't followed close enough, is Miller a legit leadoff guy?So main lineup should be:
Miller - SS
Forsythia - 2B
Dickerson - LF
Longoria - 3B
Pearce - 1B
Morrison - DH
Souza - RF
Casali - C
KK - CF
That's.......not a bad lineup? Actually has to be one of the better lineups we've had here. Also have Jennings, Schaffer and Mahtook for injury fills.

I've always liked Miller and have taken several fantasy flyers on him. He's not a bad add for the Rays but leading him off is more optimistic than 2.5 WAR.Fangraphs has him around 2-2.5 WARBrad Miller?Love Dickerson for you guys, maybe haven't followed close enough, is Miller a legit leadoff guy?So main lineup should be:

It's sneaky alright but it remains to be seen how good. Matt Silverman been active this offseason and except for the Loney/Lomo redundancy, has done an intelligent job assembling the squad. There's good OF defense and a rotation that should be solid and could be more than that if Moore, Snell or Cobb contribute. This is a sneaky good baseball team.
At least Longoria can hit leftiesI'm not sure I agree with you in Dickerson being in the he is who he is category. Guy barely has two complete seasons under his belt. Same with Miller actually.
Now longoria, that's a guy for whom that statement applies.
His comparisons have gone from Mike Schmidt to...Jeff King. Now longoria, that's a guy for whom that statement applies.

One thing about this - I agree it's not the best lineup in baseball or anything, but unlike previous years there are no major gaping holes. For god's sake, they had to play Rene Rivera at first base multiple times last year. That is unbelievably bad. There is also quality depth in case of injuries at Durham, which is another thing they've sorely lacked (playing Allan Dykstra last year, how does that happen). Most of us have always thought if they can get a little better than league average hitting they should cruise into the playoffs with that rotation. I'm not as big in the starting five this year as I am most, because Erasmo and Moore seem to be question marks, but I like the top-3, and they have Snell in Durham and Cobb in maybe August.Eephus said:It's sneaky alright but it remains to be seen how good. I still wonder where the offense is going to come from. The everyday lineup is stocked with underpriced and relatively young talent. But relatively is the key word; guys like Forsythe, Jennings, Brad Miller and even Dickerson have been around for a while. They are who they are. Hopefully a few will have career years but it's unlikely any will break out enough to be a second big run producer behind Longoria. Kevin Cash has some underrated bats he can piece together into a batting order and perhaps the offense can be more than the sum of their parts.
The Rays' road is made tougher because they'll always be outspent by everyone in their division. Their lineup really needs one more bat but the Rays can't afford to shop for one. I like their pitching enough to put them in the high 80 wins category but that probably won't be enough to win the AL East.
I'm really not trying to troll a long-suffering fanbase but I don't see it. Their rotation could be deep if some question marks turn into answers. That's probably their strength and could be the best in the division. No real stars anywhere, but they're deep everywhere.
I've not written off Dickerson as a potential every day guy yet. If Forsythe leads off and plays everyday...maybe Souza. Who knows with that wildcard though. The rest fall victim to platoons. Even when they start good bet they are out by the 7th. Decent filler in-season in daily's, but opening day? Hopefully not. Good platoons though, which is better than bad every day options.I'm really not trying to troll a long-suffering fanbase but I don't see it. The bullpen is a crapshoot. I guess the outfield could be considered deep because there's not much drop-off in quality between OF1 and OF5 but that's as much because the top is low as the bottom is high. In the infield, their best minor league bat is blocked by their best big league player and James Loney is still in line for 300-400 ABs. At middle infield, Beckham and Nick Franklin aren't even deep when they're discussing Schopenhauer.
I know fantasy baseball isn't real life but it's not a totally meaningless point of comparison for offensive production. Who other than Longoria is a starter in a 12-team mixed 5x5 league?
It's kind of like an Earl Weaver kind of club but without as much power. If all goes well, they'll be a fun team to follow with a different hero every night.I've not written off Dickerson as a potential every day guy yet. I think you'll see more Beckham and Franklin than you think. Miller doesn't hit LHP.James Loney is 1000% not getting 3-400 at-bats, unless something really bad happens in the next few weeks. They are actively trying to trade him, and beat guys think they may just flat out release him if they can't.
Also, Franklin is likely headed to Durham and Beckham may be the once a week relief at SS. Neither really a factor.
Maybe Beckham. I don't think they're very high on Franklin right now.I think you'll see more Beckham and Franklin than you think. Hey I'm not SAYING we just traded for Mike Trout, I'm just saying that somebody ELSE is saying it.Little early in the morning to be ####-hammeredCapella said:

I was there too.Got to see the Rays in Dunedin today. Guerreri and Faria are awesome prospects. Both have really clean short strokesunsure
in their wid windups.
It's really incredible how they keep churning out pitching.
Olde Bay for an early lunch, a few innings of ST, then over to the Valspar for the stretch run. March here is crazy.I never got around to buying tickets and I can't decide if I want to pay the stub hub prices for today or just go this week for 1/5 the cost.Headed to the Trop today.
Depends on if you're interested in the atmosphere or the game. Should be buzzing today and :crickets: the rest of the week.I never got around to buying tickets and I can't decide if I want to pay the stub hub prices for today or just go this week for 1/5 the cost.
Tampa the leader? Funding?2 runs in the first killed any potential buzz.
Positive for me is I heard some really honest talk about Tampa, from a guy who said we should know the future by the end of the season.
He was quoting a lot of stats that painted Tampa as the target...and had a bit of a smirk on his face when he said he couldn't talk about anything financial.Tampa the leader? Funding?
Nah. He's not able to get the curve and slider over. That's the biggest issue.I heard someone say they believe that Chris Archer is tipping his pitches, and has been since the end of last season.
It's hard for smart guys to admit when they're wrong.I'll never understand why Desmond Jennings plays everyday but Brandon Guyer doesn't.
