Cops Arrest Subway Riders For "Manspreading" (1 Viewer)

Is this, then, only illegal for men? Can chicks sprawl their legs wide open and not also be fined? I mean I can understand how the Board of Tourism might make that distinction in the law, but equal protection and all.

There's been an ad blitz in the subways about"bad behavior", including manspread.

I assumed it was trying to teach people much needed common courtesy things, not legal. That's ####### nuts.

My favorite ad:http://i.imgur.com/Rw1U16w.jpg

I've offered to share the pole with a few female subway riders, I've now been arrested twice :kicksrock:

This ad campaign is clearly a trap!!

i remember when i was living in NYC and taking the train home one day after work. i was standing by the doors and there was this mid 30's white woman with her bag next to me. she saw these two guys sitting and "manspreading" next to one another.

White Woman: Okay, fellas, you're going to need to make some room there. I want to sit down.

Guy #1: There's no room here.

Guy #2: We need all this space [points to his junk].

WW: [smiles] Then I'm *definitely* sitting with you guys.

The two young guys started laughing before shrugging. She stepped right over their legs and sat between them.

Man I couldn't fathom living in a city so large that I needed to public transportation on a daily basis.
i live in Chicago. it's the worst of both worlds. I have a car and take the CTA to work. the city is so spread out that you really kind of need the car.

btw... man-spread, yeah.

but millennial girls are the worst at taking up subway space, at least here in NYC. bag inevitably gets put on the seat next to them. legs are crossed and sticking out blocking the standing/strap-hanging space immediately in front of them. and then on their phone texting or reading whatever so not paying attention to whether they're inconveniencing anybody. when they stand, bag is over their shoulder and sticking out, cell phone in one hand, coffee in the other and leaning on the pole 7 other people are supposed to grab but now can't.
