Corey Dillon? (1 Viewer)

PACKER 7

Footballguy
I may be out of the loop on this one, but I searched and couldn't find any information.

Why hasn't someone picked up Dillon at RB? For example, Green Bay, we don't have any proven backs so why not. If nothing else just for kicks.

If anyone has any info on Dillon I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,

Dillon is Slow and wants starters money.

Yeah, he's good at the goal line but nobody is gonna pony up $$ for an OLD

situational player looking for a new team/job.

He will play hurt but it really shows when he does-no lateral speed/moves/power.

Dillon gets dinged up a LOT now.

Pure speculation here; I think Dillon is likely biding his time and waiting for the right situation to pop up. Inevitably a starting RB or two will get hurt in the next month, this will give him a couple of options that aren't currently available to him.

You are probably correct. However, I can think of several teams that could use him right now:Green BayTennesseBuffaloMiamiTampa BayI'm sure there are others...Just surprised at how his name isn't discussed much, if he still wants to play NFL.

My grandmother can outrun Dillon. Read my lips... he is d-o-n-e.

I agree that mlball77 is right. As to why someone hasn't spoken for him yet, I think comes down to the fact that teams are still trying to figure out what they have in camp. It'll work itself out. As far as we know, a team may have tried to sign Dillon but he's holding out for the right situation. Or waiting until camp is mostly over. He probably doesn't want to go through another camp.

Maybe he's enjoying "retirement". Could be it isn't that teams don't want him, but he's proven himself in the league and doesn't have the desire or need to come back. Speculation on my part, but I think I did read an update about 1-2 months ago he was enjoying spending time with his kids and golfing.

Per Rotoworld:

Corey Dillon says "the window is closed" and there "is no doubt in (his) mind" that his playing days are through."I haven't announced it publicly," Dillon told the Boston Globe. "But I will not play football again. If I really wanted to, I think I could run for 800, 900 yards. I'd share carries, or take the load if needed. But for me, the risk is way greater than the reward. (The AFC Championship) was the last game I played." Aug. 5 - 9:57 am et

Buffalo will be just fine with their RB's the way it is, Dillon is like the A-Train plus a few years at this point.

The Boston Globe reports RB Corey Dillon had left the window open, ever so slightly. Six months ago, he said he was planning to retire, barring an unexpected itch to play come football season. There have been no itches. "Now the window is closed, there is no doubt in my mind," Dillon said last week. "I haven't announced it publicly, but I will not play football again."Dillon is leaving the game, in many ways, on his own terms. After 10 hard-charging seasons, he believes he still has something left in his tank. "If I really wanted to, I think I could run for 800, 900 yards. I'd share carries, or take the load if needed," he said. "But for me, the risk is way greater than the reward. I don't feel as if there is anything else for me to do. I hit the 10-year plateau. When I came into the league in '97, I said that if I was to play 10 years, that's where I wanted to be, and I'd call it quits and do something else. I won't name names, but I know people who have played 10, 12, 15 years, and they can barely walk. To me, I never wanted to envision myself like that." That is why Dillon, who lives in California and has become a regular on the golf course, resisted interest from at least two NFL teams. The Bills attempted to fly him in for a free agent visit, as did the Titans. "The only way I would ponder getting on a flight is if the Patriots were in the Super Bowl, it was fourth and 1 on the goal line, and they needed me to pound it in. That's the only thing that would get me to put the pads on." Might he reconsider if the Patriots needed him before that point, perhaps if Laurence Maroney sustained an injury? "As far as I'm concerned, that game in Indy [in the AFC Championship] was the last game I played. Period," Dillon responded. "But I'll tell you what, I would have loved to have played with WR Randy Moss. That would have been pretty nice. But it was a year too late."

I think he could play, but wants to get the best possible situation/deal and doesn't want to deal with TC, so he is intentionally not doing anything but relaxing right now.

I was listening to Clayton/Salisbury today on ESPNRadio and they indicated that an announcement should be made soon regarding Corey Dillon. He's taken full advantage of the offseason (aka gotten fat and out of shape) and will announce his retirement.

In light of this information, I'd like to take this opportunity to announce my retirement!

I picked up zed's Grandmother in the 16th round of my most recent draft! SOD...*Championship* ;)
 :thanks: :lmao: There's nobody like her!
Not very good value in a dynasty league however.

There are lineman that are faster than Dillon now.

Great career and probably the most underrated RB of his era...for my money he was better than Curtis Martin, but CuMar gets all the press because of where he played and because he was more well behaved.

Let me guess, Washington Huskies play football in the Pac-10.
