Corey Dillon (1 Viewer)

What's up with Dillon? Is he chillin' in the Bahama's, or workin' out....trying to catch on with a team?

I think he could be a valuable pickup in the right situation.

I would love to see him signed by the Giants but I have not heard of any team talking to him.

IMO, effectively useless. I haven't heard of him working out. All I've heard is him saying his playing days were done. I suppose he could still get signed somewhere, but I wouldn't think that that's very likely at this point.

He's doing windsprints with Tiki, Ricky, and Barry. They are all poised for a comeback. If not as runningbacks, then as the newly formed New Edition.

Retired RB Corey Dillion may be interested in returning to the NFL if he can work a deal with 'the right team'. ‘‘If the right team called, there might be interest,’’ said Steve Feldman Dillon's agent. ‘‘Chicago is definitely a right team.’’

He could be worth a roster spot if you have the room, imo.

Since he's not actually playing for an NFL team, his value right now is zero.

If he were to sign with "the right team", like Chicago for instance, his value would instantaneously skyrocket.

If you're planning on waiting until he signs then scooping him up, that is a terrible plan.

The only move right now is to drop one of your scrubs and pick up Dillon in hopes that he signs. If he doesn't sign with anyone, drop Dillon and pick up one of the many other scrubs that will surely be available anytime. In this scenario you risk virtually nothing, and could gain a proven veteran RB on a run-first Super Bowl contending team with a great defense.

Zero risk + high reward = Good move.

I think that would depend more on his conditioning. Has he trained and prepared...how long would it take him to get in "game shape"?

I get your point, but I don't think it changes my point. There's no question that that Dillons value would, in fact, skyrocket from where it is now the second he signs with a team like Chicago regardless of his conditioning. Are you implying that Dillon won't have any value until he signs with Chicago, then practices with the team for a couple weeks to get into game shape? You will surely have missed the chance to put him on your roster by then.

No not implying but rather inquiring. Does anybody know how Dillon trained this offseason? Is there any info that anybody has? I think these kinda things need to be discussed before we can assign a value to him. I honestly haven't paid any attention to Dillon this year. I'm at a loss to comment on him as I have zero info.

I'm with you. Last thing I heard was that he wasn't interested in playing football anymore. Now all of a sudden he wants to play for the Bears. I would assume that he's probably not in game shape, but I would also think he can't be too far away, esp since he's more of a power back. Either way, my feeling is that the fact that we're even discussing this is reason enough to grab him now off the wire before it's too late. It may not pan out, but this is your chance to act if you want a chance to reap the possible rewards.Heck, I have Dillon and Ricky Williams on my roster in 2 leagues. Williams may be applying for re-instatement in Oct and if he does get back in the league, I'd rather have his potential on my bench than waste it on a dime-a-dozen scrub WR.

Say the Bears pass on Dillon for whatever reason. Ricky Williams is reinstated in Oct, but the Dolphins don't want him. They trade him to Chicago (after Benson has failed to impress for 4 or 5 games) and Williams gets a shot to start for the Bears. He's only 30 (same age as Fred Taylor), he's fresh and he's just odd enough that it wouldn't surprise me if he could still play like a 28 year old.

Sure it's a long shot, but again, if you're only dropping dime-a-dozen players, it's low risk high reward, so why not?

The Bears can use a shiftless, plodding runner that eats up 3 yards at a time. Oh.
That's almost one full yard per carry more than Benson had last week (19/42/2.2) so I guess, yeah, the runner you described above would be an upgrade.

They were playing San Diego who has a stout D. I don't recall Tomlinson getting much more than 3 yards per carry. So whats your point?

Pretty sure his value would skyrocket no matter who he signed with.
"The right team" was a reference to Dillons agent saying that he would be interested in playing, but only if the "right team" came calling. In other words, Dillon's not interested in playing for just anybody. If that were the case, he'd already be signed as I'm sure teams have contacted him. So, if Dillon does sign with someone it will likely be a situation that will raise his value more than usual.
