My parents practically make a date out of Costco shopping. They know the times, days and locations of all the snacky snacks being offered and will go with the intent on shopping and catching lunch at the same time.

How are your toes?had today off. popped over to Costco for a couple specific things.
place was absolutely full of retirees and women with kids. almost as busy as a Saturday afternoon but totally void of people between ages 6 - 65 except a handful of us.

not this time. usually i would get a slice and then eat it standing in front of the ordering kiosk so that no one else could use it but i'd already eaten by the time i stopped at Costco today.had today off. popped over to Costco for a couple specific things.

When you paid for your items did you spend another 40 minutes enjoying a slice of pizza and a soda pop for 11 cents or whatever?
Since inflation reared its ugly head, the Costco near us has gotten progressively worse. It’s a growing area as well so that doesn’t help when their hasn’t been a new Costco added in the 18 years that we’ve lived here. Used to be that I could run over Friday afternoon or a non-weekend night and there’d be bunches of close parking spots. In the past year it’s hard to find parking at all without waiting and that’s not me. I parked basically behind the Costco and walked on Friday. Our Costco is mobbed 24/7..... Well the hours they are open.
I can go over there on a random Tuesday or Wednesday, morning early afternoon evening just doesn't matter
I find closing time varies. Sometimes its a ghost town and other times I begin to question if they've extended the closing time for that night. My new go to is right at opening on the weekend. Its fairly crowded throughout the store, but the checkout is absolutely empty b/c everyone moves so slow. Even if I'm taking my time, you're still one of the 1st people to the front. It really is incredible how slow we move as a society. People shop like they're making life changing decisions.Maybe don't go at noon on Saturday. I have gone several times right before close. Nobody there.lol, that is not me.I love taking my time. Life is short. Plus you might run across something you like or need.I used to enjoy their Polish dog, but that's about it. Haven't had one in 10 years or more. Costco to me is a surgical strike. Park on the outskirts, bolt down the far aisle where electronics and office furniture are, dive into the back for TP, paper towels, zip in for coffee, olive oil and mixed nuts, then race to self check-out. Get in, get out, go to the bar. I see people waiting in line for pizza or whatever and just think 'why would you want to stay here longer than you need to'? Do you linger around the dentist office after your appointment is over, reading magazines just because you're there? So weird.
Yeah, yeah, yeah platitudes aside, there's a lot of life to be lived outside of a giant warehouse store. I see folks like you lapping up free samples and milling around like a dope and just can't understand that mentality. You lick up a Dixie cup of pudding and find joy in this? Not me, man. Would you linger around a 7-11 longer than you have to? Do you get gas and then just waltz around the convenience store because it's there? Just weird, man.
I am still a guy. I have a plan upon entering. However, unlike most other stores, you never know when something new pops up at Costco.
I feel it's worth the extra time to hit the main aisles.
My tolerance for people just milling around when others are trying to conduct commerce and be on their way is very low. I'm not a 'browser'. I'm not looking to spend money on things that aren't 'essentials'. Costco makes sense for a family our size but I'm not bringing my entire family in there with me because I don't view Costco as some sort of treat. It's not an amusement park. The human cholesterol clogging up the aisles waiting for free samples or just leaving their carts perpendicular in the middle of the aisle is maddening.
But you can't beat it for coffee, olive oil, etc. Big fan of their giant sized spices and vanilla too. Want some edamame? Here's 50 bags for 10 dollars. Want some rolled oats? How's a bag the size of a Nissan Leaf strike you?
I mean for what it's worth today I read every single wine price and producer and such in the wine aisle (the nicer ones not the ones with like a box of 12 available). Didn't seem too crowded even though it was 12:30pm.I find closing time varies. Sometimes its a ghost town and other times I begin to question if they've extended the closing time for that night. This might be the actual impossible. 10+ years?
I'll take the UNDER.
Their overly-doughy pizzas are certainly not a culinary delight.
But at $10, when I don't feel like dropping $50 locally, it scratches that pizza itch.

I share your overall strategy for shopping, anywhere. But the key to Costco is shopping 30 min before they close. At least where I live, it's pretty empty at that time.I used to enjoy their Polish dog, but that's about it. Haven't had one in 10 years or more. Costco to me is a surgical strike. Oh yeah, the other Costco strategy is park the cart out of the way, then walk up and down a couple aisles to retrieve what you need. You should only navigate your cart around the store's periphery.Team GM/gianmarco here. I hate the aimlessly wandering families. I try to go late during the week but occasionally have to go on a weekend and it really tests my patience.
A guy I work with said he saw me there once and said it looked like I was driving a Formula 1 car through a maze.
I'd be up for meeting both of you at a Costco, doing a live eat off with the samples while zipping through the store at above average rates of speed. The footage would be posted here and both threads could collide.Team GM/gianmarco here. I hate the aimlessly wandering families. Then again, what's the point since no one can laugh at it, so nevermind.
Tried this and found the rice to fish ratio is off. Fish very thin, rice not sweet or vinegary enough.my costco now sells sushi rolls and one of them has a 6 or 8 piece salmon nigiri with the rolls. They claim fresh daily but I haven’t been feeling well so I haven’t pulled the trigger on it yet. Probably will this weekend so i have lunch and dinner for rough 12-18 bucks

This. Also, the store has had the same layout for at least the past decade and the variety isn't plentiful enough to be wasting time mulling over your options. These are the same people who struggle with menu options at McDonalds. A number 7 large please, is it that hard???!!!???!!
We get like 10 things from costco....
Eggs
Milk
OJ
Detergent and Downy
Meat/Poulty
Irish cheese and butter
Oldest likes Bagel bites
Coffee
Produce
Collagen

No, Matthews. I’d love to go to the one being built in Indian Land but that won’t be ready for at least a year. It’s possible that we’ll sell the current house before then so who knows where I’ll be when that and the Ballantine Wegman’s is open. 18+ years and finally I’d have both close and with cheaper gas prices in SC and I might be somewhere else. You go to Tyvola? Kind of surprised by these lists. There’s so many non-food things we get. Tide Pods, tons of toiletries, paper goods, garbage bars and kitchen items. I will probably be shopping much less frequently once’s the last boy is in college next Fall but when we were a house of 4 or 5, we’d run the dishwasher and clothes washer every day.
This. Also, the store has had the same layout for at least the past decade and the variety isn't plentiful enough to be wasting time mulling over your options. These are the same people who struggle with menu options at McDonalds. A number 7 large please, is it that hard???!!!???!!

The non-food stuff is like once a year purchase if that as a single guy.Kind of surprised by these lists. The trash would get taken out every night and TP/paper towels would be gone quick. All of that stuff was way cheaper at Costco, especially if you pay attention to coupons since some things like Ziplocks or Sonicare brunch heads would alternate every other month.100% with you. We have our set staples we get and then once a season my wife will go through the clothes section to find deals on clothes for our kid since he seems to outgrow all of his clothes once a week.I find closing time varies. Yep. Occasionally, they have Rao’s Eggplant Parm in the frozen food section. Like many of my top impulse selections, it has not become a permanent fixture, though it should be.I hope you all are grabbing the two pack of Rao's sauce. Only jarred sauce worth having around and it is like 1/2 the price of everywhere else
