Could the Colts get in trouble with the League? (1 Viewer)

Colts president Bill Polian confirmed Monday night that Marvin Harrison will not play in Week 16 against the Texans.

"He will not play this following weekend, I can assure you of that," Polian said on his radio show. "His knee has healed, it's a matter of conditioning now, and until we can put him out there for 60 plays a game, he won't play."

So, basically...he got hurt in week 4 during the game. Since then he's been listed as QUESTIONABLE on week 5 then from week 7 to week 11. Note - His bye was week 6. They finally list him correctly as being OUT week 12, then QUESTIONABLE again for weeks 13 & 14. They go back to be honest listed him as OUT for week 15 and now finally OUT again for week 16.

Quesionable is supposed to mean 50% chance to play/not play. I'm not a doctor (and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night either), but I would say that simple logic would show that there was no chance Marvin had a 50% chance to play earlier on...if he's still on the mend. Thus, have they not been giving false injury reports about the guy week 5 - 11 and then again in wk 13 & 14. Seems like they knew he was not going to play, but wanted teams to prepare for the possibility of the Colts having him. Thus, a false report! I find it weird that ESPN (who is always hungry to create a BIG story) hasn't hinted or mentioned this situation at all. The whole situation seems shady to me, how about you?

Is it not cheating to give false or not give injury reports at all?

Did the Colts not divulge the real injury?

So many people were up in arms about the Pats when they were caught cheating. So, besides the fact that they were caught red handed...is this really any different? After all, cheating is cheating.

Why does every thread some how relate to the Pats? It gets old.Several teams mock the injury report. IMO, the injury report is a joke.

That is kind of my point in that so many were up in arms at even the thought of the Pats cheating, but none are really raising even an eyebrow at what appears to be very blatant infraction. No Pat bashing here...

Hmmm... maybe over the course of the season, they thought at times there were changes he might play... wow, so simple.

I am not defending the Pats ... Steelers homer here. But, c'mon, I get real tired of reading everything about the Pats and cheating. I think it's time to move on. From what I understand, a lot of teams taped illegally (i.e. Jets). But it didn't get blown up like the Pats. Same thing with the Colts pumping noise into the stadium. Many teams mock the injury report (i.e. probable shoulder for 4 yrs in a row) but the Colts are getting called out on it for whatever reason.

Weeks 13 & 14 can surely be chalked up to that and no issue there. To say that they thought he was going to play in week 5, 7 or 8, but he's still out week 16? Yeah, that's simple alright.

I think that is true, injury reports are faked to a degree all the time. In this case though, it's through basically a whole season. Can't just say..."Well we thought that he might play," but oh my...he's been out for 11 (not counting bye). :towelwave:

Putting a player at questionable instead of out is a blatant infraction? No. Now, putting a player as probable (75% chance to play) for the same injury for 60+ weeks... now THAT is a blatant infraction. Listing every single player as Questionable while completely eschewing the "probable" or "doubtful" designations... THAT is a blatant infraction. As far as injury report shenanigans go, this is probably the smallest infraction that's been committed all season long.

I'm almost positive PROBABLE denotes that is is a virtual certainty the player will play and that "75% chance of playing" is a fallacy.Profootballtalk.com constantly brings this up as the 75% Rule is falsely propagated by the media.

The only ones being cheated by the Colts are the crazy fantasy football fans who are dying to know each week when and if Marvin will return.

I can't imagine any NFL team getting ready to play the Colts would spend any time obsessing over the league injury report. They'll plan for the Colts' passing game just fine, with or without Marvin.

Brady has been listed as probable with a shoulder injury for like three years straight. The Pats did it, too. Polian is a snake but he's not doing this differently than anyone else.
