Friday afternoon minicamp notes

Tidbits gathered from the 49ers' minicamp practice.

--WR Darrell Jackson is being held out of minicamp with the turf toe injury that sidelined him for three games at the end of the regular season. The 49ers passed him on their physical Sunday before the deal with Seattle went through. Coach Mike Nolan said he expects Jackson to be ready for training camp and hopes he'll be ready for the OTAs at the end of the month.

:P

No point in rushing your #1 WR back from a tough injury to heal from.
Agreed. But it is clearly not a good thing that we are in May and he is still hobbling a bit from an injury that he hasn't played on since November. Throw in his now nagging knee injury and I don't think you can reasonably expect him to play a full slate this year.

Turf Toe is a nuisance. IIRC Lav Coles missed time for turf toe 3 different times and was out a completely different amount of time each occurence.

This should(in theory) be good with proper rehab and keeping in shape and all. I would guess that it's because he misses so much time that he isn't keeping it strong and "in shape".Much of what was said here and on radio+TV was this is annoying and the Hawks have had enough. The Niners didn't come into this blindly. I assume they're prepared to deal with it by making the trade and all. "My boy" Battle seems to miss plenty of time (if not then he's "always" banged up). Didn't Taylor do this when Nolan was in Baltimore? so this might be familiar ground for them with a WR.

He just passed their physical so I'm guessing this is precautionary in nature. They know more about the injury than we do and feel he'll be ready when the want him to be ready.

[sarcasm]But clearly you don't have an axe to grind in the 49ers/Seahawks trade, so why on earth would you post in here?[/sarcasm]

Another SF WR minicamp is over.

49ers | Lelie injured Friday

Sat, 5 May 2007 19:07:55 -0700

Matt Maiocco, of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, reports San Francisco 49ers WR Ashley Lelie (quadriceps) suffered a right quadriceps strain early in practice Friday, May 4, and will not take part in any more of the minicamp.

Sure do, when Alexander or Hasselbeck go down with an injury we'll have to have a good chuckle. Finding humor is injuries seems a tad juvenille.

Valid point. Fom a Seahawk fan saluting the offseason moves made by the Niners. Good luck, when Jackson is healthy he can be great.

I think that the 49'ers had a great off season. I just think trading Jackson to SF wasn't all that bad. I'm not cheering injuries, I'm proving a point. Jackson won't practice in the off season, and he won't play a full season.

Ya think???? LOL you don't need to tell us Steelers fans that. :X

I'll be interested to hear what the local sports radio here in Sacramento has to say about DJax in the upcoming months.

At this point I don't think him missing some time is an issue. He's a season vet.
