I wonder what the Shark Pool collectively thinks about this huge game. It's only week 3 but CHI already has a loss and another one here would separate the teams by 2 games in the NFC standings. Does Dallas have the poise to go into Soldier and get a win, or is CHI licking their chops for an ambush? I am looking forward to this game more than any other Sunday as I think we learn a lot about the prospects for both teams going forward. Does anyone think Griese could make his debut at some point in this contest?

Dallas wins and heres why

The dallas defense is improving ever since the first week debacle people have been underrating them. Dallas has historicallly had problems matching up with Plax and Shockey so the game is a bit of an outlier. Against the Phins (who have put up better offensive statistics then the bears) Dallas caused 5 turnovers. I think we can all agree that thus far Trent Green has played better then Grossman. Everyone is also forgetting that Dallas is without their top corner Terrance Newman who is probably going to return. Granted he will not be 100% he is still better than their 3rd corner.

Cedric Benson will struggle to find room to run against the 3-4 leaving the game in Rex Grossman's hands. The only person who concerns me is Devin Hester but Dallas has arguably the best punter in the league Matt McBriar who will be able to directional kick out of bound competently if need be.

Dallas will be able to move the ball. I have heard that Darwin Walker might not play so Dallas will be able to put 2 guys on Tommie Harris, those 2 guys will probably be the 300+ Andre Gurode and the 350+ Leonard Davis so I like that match up. Also I like Witten to find seams in the defense as Urlacher is banged up a bit. Also who can cover a motivated and rejuvenated TO? exactly

If Dallas gets up early this game could turn ugly quick.

I think DAL wins. They already got their first road game out of the way last week. They struggled early, then pulled away late at MIA. If T. Newman is back in the lineup for the game, CHI's below average offense isn't going to generate much vs. DAL's average (or better) defense. DAL's good offense should score enough vs CHI's good def to win the game, barring turnover leading to DEF scores. I call it 20-13 Dallas.

I say Chicago, just because I hate Dallas. sorry.

ETA: actually, I hate Chicago too. where's the "DRAW" vote option?

I haven't heard anything about Darwin Walker not playing, where did you get that info?

I know that Tommie Harris hasn't practiced all week with a hamstring injury and is listed as Questionable. The Bears need him to play and play well.

T-New did some light running and is going to be a game time decision, so who knows how much of an impact he'll have if any. If he's out there he'll be a target, they will run at him and pass on him to see if he is all there.

Bears RT Fred Miller is listed as Questionable but said he's fine.

Bears C Olin Kreutz did not practice this week with an ankle injury but appears likely to play. I think that Kreutz is a big key to the game, especially considering the Cowboys are thin up the middle in the 3-4 with Fergie out and Ratliff in. The Bears have to be able to run the ball to win which is quite possible.

Another player to keep an eye on is Bears TE Greg Olsen, he hasn't seen the field yet but reports from Bears camp really emphasized his surprising speed. He could settle Rex down somewhat, it's unlikely but Rex has played extremely well at times because of the players around him making plays with their speed. He's hit or miss so any time other players can make plays it really makes him look much better.

The Cowboys do have a good defense when healthy, but they aren't healthy. I've heard that they plan on not kicking to Hester, but what is that going to cost them in terms of general field position? If he's not returning anything will they get him the ball offensively?

Offensively the Cowboys have depth problems at WR, but they do still have T.O. I don't know if the Bears will put Charles Tillman on him all game or not. Tillman is not a household name, but he's a solid corner who has played well matched up against elite WRs in the past.

Will the Cowboys be able to run the ball consistently or are the Bears just going to take that away like they did to LT?

I think that Chicago will be able to hold Jones and Barber in check pretty well, so it's going to come down to Romo making plays against an elite defense. Rex could play great or play like crap regardless of how good the Cowboys defense is, Benson/Peterson/Wolfe just need to run north and south and not fumble. I think Romo has to play great for Dallas to win, Rex just has to not play horrible. That is kind of a coin flip though.

It is worth discussing whether or not Griese plays. It is a possible move, but Lovie Smith has been patient with Rex. Is this a big enough game to cost Rex his job? It might just be, but it remains to be seen how stubborn Lovie is. I think that if he's come this far with Rex he probably will continue to do so, because obviously Griese is no Steve Young.

Football is won and lost in the trenches, so Harris & Kreutz are big keys in my view. I like the Bears d-line over the Cowboys o-line, and I like the Bears o-line over the Cowboys front 3. Assuming Kreutz, Harris, and Walker all play. The team that runs the ball and stops the run usually wins.

I'm going to go with Chicago. Dallas seemed to struggle a little bit in their road game against Miami. Chicago will be much tougher. Plus, Grossman occasionally has a game where he looks like an NFL quarterback. He's due for that game.

If it was in Dallas I'd say the Cowboys win, but since it's in Chicago-- Bears 27, Cowboys 14.

Dallas will win this game. With the offence they have I can't see Da Bears competing with it.

Yes Da Bears defence HAS to step up if they want any chance, but can they?

Score: Dallas 31.....Da Bears 20

Folk will still be perfect by games end.

To downplay Chicago just because they lost to a team much better than either of the teams Dallas has faced seems like a mistake.

Dallas

Grossman will not be able to handle the pressure of the Dallas defense coming at him from all angles. It will be up to the Bears defense to score points, and I don't think Romo will make that many mistakes. Garrett and Romo both know as long as they take their time and take what the Bears D give them, they'll win.

I think there are a number of things to look at in this game. The Dallas offense is very good. The Bears D is exceptional. I think the Cowboys offense will be able to move the ball some. The Bears won't be able to shut them down completely, but they will limit the scoring. The Bears offense has been unimpressive so far. However, there are definitely weapons available. Olsen should be on the field to add to the weapons. The Dallas defense is horrible. They were exposed by the Giants. Newman may be back, which should help. But I don't think that Newman will be healthy all season. That heel problem will linger. I think the difference is Hester. With the possible scoring, and the swing in field position because of Hester will give the game to the Bears.I'd like to mention this. Remember in the preseason when everyone said the Cowboys wouldn't miss Parcells? I heard all this talk about the Cowboys being better now that Parcells was gone. I think we can put that nonsense to rest. Parcells is a Hall of Fame coach. Wade has been a good coordinator, but not very successful as a head coach. I still think the Cowboys will win the East, but they would be better if Parcells was coaching them.

homer here.

But I think the Bears win...as long as they are protecting a lead at the end and not depending on Rex to win/tie.

I have Romo as a fantasy QB so I watch them a lot . the strength of Dallas O is Romo's ability to slide away from the rush. The bears play a zone type rush and have lots of speed on the DL -- rarely allowing a Qb time to scramble and we all know they stop the run well. The bears do have a tendency to give up the long pass to speed WRs-- but here is the key--t.glenn out. They will focus on T.O. and don't want to see him doing sit-ups in the endzone again. I think the cowboys will need 3 Tds to win. just don't see it.

Advantage: Bears D.

The bears O has been struggling because have not been able to run consistently. The cowboys D has not allow a rushing TD. but have been prone to the long ball. Bears at home will commit to the run and then i think Good Rex will beat the weak covering Roy williams will the long ball at least once.

Advantage: Even

Special Team: Devin hester.

Advantage: Bears

intangible: Bears at home. a lot of media hype with Romo and the dallas O but the bears are not intimidated. the tone around here is that the team feels a bit disrespected.

For me, this game all comes down to the Bears offense. Benson needs to get off to a good start, because the O-line has been floundering this season. But if they can keep the pressure off Grossman with the help of some play action, the Cowboys don't have anyone who can cover Berrian deep.
