Dallas Cowboys Offseason Thread (7 Viewers)

What I find funny is if Jerry had signed Micah for 47 mil like Green Bay did, this board would crucify him, lol. "You paid a one-trick pass-rushing pony 47 mil, blah, blah, blah". LMAO. Jerry tried to pay Micah more than he's worth...in fact, more than any other defensive player in history
Big deal.

Every team in the league, except maybe the Bengals, would have paid Micah more than any other defensive player in history.

What Jerry also tried to do was negotiate with his best player without the players' representation, and then refused to deal with Parsons' people. You know, like every other negotiation in sports.

But hey, least you got that run stuffer! Packers can try and comfort themselves with the All-Pro getting a dozen sacks in a passing league, but everyone knows pass rush is overrated

The impact Micah will have in GB hasn't really been discussed in this thread. It's been all Jerry and Dallas, but if this move makes Dallas an also-ran, then nothing changes from the past 30 years.

Great thing about a guy like him, he makes the CBs better, the S better, Rashan Gary sees less double teams.... this could be a game changer.
Like I said, I'm glad Micah got paid. I'm more glad we didn't make him the highest paid defensive player in history, much less 47 mil.

If he was worth that much, I'd be all for it.
Micah is obviously awesome. I did not realize that the Cowboys defense (in EPA/play) when he's on the field is the BEST IN THE NFL since he became a Cowboy. And without him? Dead last.

We had the best defense in the NFL the past four years!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Holy Cow. I would never had known that by the way teams would just run the ball directly at the leagues 5th best pass rusher and the current highest paid non QB in the league.

He's so good we can't stop the run. Was he our best player on D? Yeah, I'd say so.

Pretty dang good pass-rusher, but not good enough to warrant anywhere near 47 mil. Hendrickson is a better pure pass-rusher at 30 mil. Micah's weakness is as a run defender. It's not so much a lack of talent as it is he can easily be influenced at times (possibly due to having big eyes for sacks). That, and he doesn't seem to have the best instincts against the run. Maybe he can improve...not sure.

BTW, not really knocking the Packers. In fact, I gave them a compliment simply due to having the balls to make something happen in a tough division. 47 mil is an outrageous contract given what Micah can do (albeit, which is a fair amount), but it's one of those deals where it'll be worth it if Green Bay can win a title.

2 late firsts and an average player for a generational talent? Sorry but this just seems really bad for Dallas. Jerry Jones is the new Dan Snyder and I almost feel sorry for Dallas fans.

Why is @Terpman22 making the most posts in here? Didn't Philly win a super bowl? Does Dallas just live rent free in your head that much lol...

Bad cap management bites Dallas again, but as far as deals go, I'd way rather the two firsts than the exorbitant contract to Parsons.

I'm not an expert but FanDuel still has the O/U at 7.5, which implies it's not like he was impacting winning.

I
Hate
The
Cowboys

Not hard to understand

But yeah thanks for the reminder, we did win the Super Bowl - not sure if you are aware, but we will be unveiling the banner in 6 days. Too bad Micah is gonna miss that eh.

48-7 coming
No Micah, No problem.
It can't get much worse than the last two games against your Eagles.
We shall see.

Taking my son to Dallas for his 21st Bday in Oct. Tickets to Jerruh World are pretty ridiculous, but hoping they drop on the 2ndary markets with horrid play and waning enthusiasm.....Maybe this is the best thing to happen to my wallet.
As a fan of the Baltimore Orioles, I have recent experience with your outlook and it did make it a nicer outing knowing I was at the game on the cheap. Enjoy the father/son trip!

Thanks man! I have four sons and this one is the ONLY one who adopted my hometown team of Dallas. He's got his CeeDee Lamb jersey already packed. :)

Looking forward to eating some great DFW food too. This kid is about to get a crash course in BBQ, TexMex and Texas women.

You open to adoption? I'm house broken.

Do I get the tax benefit? If so, "Howdy, son!".

I gotta take the kid boot shopping too - that's something an Oregon kid would never comprehend; giant warehouses selling nothing but boots. :lmao:

Just did the research. 21 different teams have played in the Super Bowl since the Cowboys last did. That's 2/3 of the League.

I feel for the players, and the recent Netflix special spawned a new appreciation for that era of 1990s players. There's really only one common denominator here. Gotta find a way to get rid of Jerry.

ETA: 24 corrected to 21.

Appreciate your unbiased take.
It is unbiased to call him a generational talent. I love hating on Dallas for obvious reasons, but I acknowledge greatness regardless of jersey when I see it. And Jerry does suck, surely most Dallas fans know this by now. Its why all the Redskins, Eagles, and Giants fans hope he stays in control for another 40 years.

Lotta talk about this being Jerry's "2nd Herschel Walker Trade"

Ok so

Ya know I actually looked up Herschel Walker stats for the first time.

This guy ran for 1500 yards on 4.2 YPC and 5 touchdowns.

I am/was way too young to get it, and I understand teams didn't value draft picks back then.

But I still don't understand why this went down - 3 1stsAND 3 2nds, + all the players?

Walker went on to have 12 year career, in a time when running the ball was THE THING in the NFL, I am shocked to see this guy only ran for 1k+ TWO times out of 12 years.

So much insanity about this trade still all these years later

He led your Eagles to the playoffs in 1996 so you must be really really young, which stands to reason based on your posting style.

The players Minn traded back to Dallas converted to picks if the Cowboys cut them and other than Ike Holt, none of the players mattered for Dallas.

We'll never see another Herschel Walker type trade again in the NFL. The people suggesting this Parson's trade is similar have never read a history book.

Plus the person responsible for that trade was Jimmy not Jerry. Do you really trust Jerry with draft picks?

Ok, so... why are you here?

I think you have been ran off of this thread a few times but you still keep coming back, for what?

You idiot Eagles fans will argue anything - Dak Prescott and Tony Romo suck because they can't win playoff games but Micah and his 1 sack in 4 playoff games is a game wrecker. You are coming in here antagonizing a fanbase about a dude you have no clue about.

You seriously think Micah Parsons is worth $47 mill/year? As mentioned, he isn't even the best DE... Bosa, Watt, Garrett and Aiden Hutchinson over him by a lot. He is a great pass rusher, that hardly means he is worth highest non-QB in the league money. You wanted Dallas to sink $47 million a year into Micah, just so they could continue to suck with him on the team through 2028? Good grief.

Do you lack the social awareness to understand when you aren't wanted and your opinion is mud? Dallas Rushing D was 28th in the league, 29th in YPC... I know I am the twelfth person to tell you this, but because you are an Eagles fan, let me be #13. Micah sucked at setting the edge, heck - he would run right by it on his way to his 1 of 12 sacks. Dude is going to make $4 million dollars for every sack he gets next year and you think we should be upset? Lol.

I feel like most of the Cowboys fans on this board are pretty level-headed and know the team we will be watching on Sunday. We weren't going anywhere this year and 4 draft picks is a lot. We are acting like picks 20-32 are complete throw-away picks. You realize they do 7 rounds of this sh*t, right? Picking in the top 15% of the player pool 4 times in the next 2 years is a good thing. You said it earlier, you hate the Cowboys - so, why don't you enter into a Cowboys thread and run your mouth about a team you don't know anything about. Also, Jake Ferguson can be a post June 1st cap cut next season and free up $8 million in cap room for the Cowboys in 2026... you cannot compare Ferguson's salary to Micah's monster contract. You sound insane. Ferguson being signed has nothing to do with Micah not getting paid... there was no way Jerry was paying that to begin with. If you listened to the actual fans of this team, over the last couple months, you wouldn't be so surprised.

The truth is - you would have throttled Jerry and the Cowboys no matter what they did - had they given up $47 million per year to Micah, you would be beating the drum that we should have signed him an extension after we drafted him. When you hate something - it is pretty easy to look at the bad and skew any moves that team makes as a negative. I am surprised we were able to get two 1sts + a decent player, while handing over that contract number to Green Bay. It does make sense for them but didn't for us.

No you're not, drop the innocent babe in the woods routine, Karen. You are here to aggravate Cowboys' fans and be as obnoxious as possible to solicit responses in return. Don't pretend like you're in here in good faith.

He probably learned from the Cowboys fans that do this in the Eagles thread.

I remember when I was a young boy, my grandfather had a lot of money. LOTS. He would waste it on crazy stuff. Waited until the last minute to buy something, even though it was 30% cheaper 2 months ago. He would make up excuses as to why he waited to buy it. It was ALWAYS according to his plan.

It was maddening.

One time, he was having a hard time working out a payment plan to his gardener. Gardener was happy to make ‘x’ money(he was under a contractual obligation to only work on my grandfathers property), but my grandfather wanted to discuss it with the gardener himself instead of the gardeners boss. Had a deal in place with gardener, but my grandfather refused to talk to the gardeners boss. Finally, the gardener had enough of my grandfathers silliness, and asked to be assigned to another customer. My grandfather tried to talk to him about it, but my grandfather mucked it up….as usual. My grandfather agreed to send the gardener to another customer. The customer was extremely happy, as they have admired the gardeners work for a few years. The gardener was upset, but happy to be with a customer who appreciated him. Somehow my grandfather allowed this while only taking two $10 bills as compensation for voiding the contract.

So, anyway….I’m a Cowboy fan…

Finally, the gardener had enough of my grandfathers silliness, and asked to be assigned to another customer. My grandfather tried to talk to him about it, but my grandfather mucked it up….as usual. My grandfather agreed to send the gardener to another customer. The customer was extremely happy, as they have admired the gardeners work for a few years. The gardener was upset, but happy to be with a customer who appreciated him. Somehow my grandfather allowed this while only taking two $10 bills as compensation for voiding the contract.

So, anyway….I’m a Cowboy fan…
two $10 bills and a past it's prime pair of shears and i'd do it.

so anyway.....i own the cowboys
"Past it's prime pair of shears".

Dang, that is good.

Ok so
Ok, so... why are you here?

I’m just here talking football bro no need to be so rude.

No you're not, drop the innocent babe in the woods routine, Karen. You are here to aggravate Cowboys' fans and be as obnoxious as possible to solicit responses in return. Don't pretend like you're in here in good faith.
Got a prediction for week 1?

Eagles 38
Dallas 16

He probably learned from the Cowboys fans that do this in the Eagles thread.

That's fair.

Pain.

Started watching some Green Bay tape. If Clark is #97, he gonna help us (big-time).
I don't know his metrics or grades but I do know the Lions had problems blocking this guy.

Yeah. Parson has torn up my WAS team. And now there's nothing to fear in DAL. Maybe Lamb. But as long as Dak is throwing him the ball (or in reality missing him with the ball), I'm not to worried about that.

Gross. It saddens me to think people who like the same team as me are this obnoxious to their fans. Good Lord.

He led your Eagles to the playoffs in 1996 so you must be really really young, which stands to reason based on your posting style.
Thank you. I’ve been asking him how old is he is, he never answers

All are welcome in the Boys thread imo
I’m young so maybe me memory is still good bc the dude definitely didn’t play on the Eagles in 1996 to “lead them to the playoffs”

Just finished the Netflix show.

"The mink was needed."

Just epic stuff. Bwahahahahaa
I'm only two episodes into the show but I think it's been great. I'm not a Cowboys fans but I was in high school with Jerry Jr when he bought the team, Jerry Sr. came to the school a few days later to talk to us all about it and the show brings back a lot of memories from that time.

I'm a longtime Steeler's fan and back in the early to mid 90's I was actually jealous of Cowboy's fans for having an owner like Jerry. Someone whose aggressiveness and outside the box thinking seemed to know no bounds. I was a lone Steelers fan surrounded by Cowboy's fans while they were winning SB's at the time, with their win over the Steelers in the SB probably my most painful loss in my life.

I'm sure not jealous anymore.

Signing DaRon Bland, who is a top corner in the league, is a great move. Next on their list is probably Tyler Smith. If things go well with Pickens, he'll be one of their priorities, as well.

Per Dianna Russini:

Dak Prescott, on the Micah Parsons trade, via Jon Machota: “I definitely didn’t think he was going to get traded. But just with the way their negotiations went down … it seemed like it got personal on their ends, so that’s why I wasn’t surprised.”
So that’s… fun?

Man, Joe would be busy dealing with all
kinds of hurt feelings and reported posts if this was the bad guys teams thread.

I guess we have to give out predictions.
