Dallas Cowboys Offseason Thread (1 Viewer)

Ahahahahahahaha-ahahahaha

A OG AT 12th!!!
Trust me, for us this is a win. I kind of feared they would grab Sanders. I would have thrown my computer thru the window.
This is a solid pick. Will be an anchor player for years. So happy they avoided the flash and are rebuilding the line. Now, grab an RB is round #2 and we are building something.
I actually think he is a solid prospect. Just…12th overall - very rich, would anyone else have taken him in the first round?

A solid prospect. lol. Stop acting like you know anything Mel Kiper.
He’s solid.
Taking a OG with a top 12 pick just seems crazy.

Or another way to put it

Booker + Donovan E

Or

Jalon Walker + Tate Ratledge?

I’m happy you guys went with this plan trust me all good.
I think a good case could be made for either pairing. My slight lean is for what Dallas did, but could easily be wrong.

So does Dallas finish 4th or possibly 3rd in the NFC East? I think the Giants had a better draft than Dallas but Dallas had better talent going into the draft.

Dallas will have an easier schedule and others will likely under estimate them.

Skins will have a first place schedule and won’t sneak up on anyone.

Eagles have the same thing but their already good defense just got reloaded with draft picks.

Giants had a great draft - name-wise, but as you said, they’re not that talented and have QB issues.

It’s Eagles and everyone else imo.

What round does Sanders have to fall to for Deion to call Jerry?

What round would you be OK with taking him?
I'm at the point where I don't hate it. He's now undervalued IMO.

Yeah, I went from I wouldn’t touch him with a 10’ pole to hmmmmmm……maybe this will humble him. (It won’t).

I would have drafted him over Dillon Gabriel.
Yeah, that made no sense. It seems like any reservations about Shedeur have entered irrational territory now.

At this point I hope the Eagles take him. All it takes is a good preseason game and they can flip him for a 3rd.
Maybe you should go discuss that, in the Eagles thread.

I might, it's pretty dead in here, like the Cowboys chances at a Super Bowl for the next decade.
Good honest discussion amirite

:lmao:

fwiw you can post whatever you want whenever you want of course. I appreciate smack talk from rivals. It’s fun

Maybe we should start a Philadelphia Eagles team thread for non Philadelphia Eagles' fans
Therein lies the problem, there a bunch of non-Eagles fans posters who simply want to jump into an Eagles thread just to take pot-shots and not have serious, honest discussion. A threads like these are revelations because it keeps their garbage mostly out of the "Official" thread.

Same guy.

It’s gotta be the in the water.

Love our draft.
Looking like a strong rebuild but I still worry about these wasted years with Lamb and Micah.

I’d honestly consider redshirting guys, essentially (organically) tanking the whole next season playing rookies and projects.

Did I post something wrong? I keep getting tagged in this back and forth, maybe we really do need a non-Philly fan thread to discuss the team
Personally I wish the Miami Dolphins acted more like the Eagles

You didn’t do anything wrong, you’re just in the quote box. Consider it collateral damage. This is the most non-Philly thread you can find on football guys.

I'd love to have a Cowboys thread to discuss the cowboys with other cowboys fans.

That’s how it starts in “your” thread also.
Except in this one noone got their parties in a bunch, no one cares and people move on with their lives.
Why do you think that is?
I guess we aren’t as in touch with our feels as you guys?

I guess the real question for @Snotbubbles is why even click this thread? We don't want to talk to you. We don't want a flame war. We just want to talk about the Cowboys amongst ourselves. I can;t stop you if you want to be here anyway, but it's worth examining why.

Naw I can’t endorse that. I like a couple
of them and most of them know quite a bit about football.

They’re always welcome here and won’t get reported.

Wait, you don’t wanna talk Cowboys football? I’ll do that with you instead of the other happily!

What direction do you want to see the team take? Are you still all in with Prescott or do you want to move on? Do you think the team is making moves to move on (from Prescott) soon?

I think we have no choice but to go all in on Dak. What other team wants to take on that contract. I would have been fine drafting Sanders in the 5th for the future if I thought we could trade Dak. It seems to me like Dak got his big contract and then went soft on us. He spent too much time doing commercials and not enough time concentrating on football. His ability to scramble was a big factor in his early success. Maybe his injuries played a big part in that decline. He just doesn't seem to have that killer instinct to rise to the occasion in big moments.

I am not a fan of the snarky posts by Eagles fans in this or ANY thread. Likewise, I am not interested in reading through, nor a fan of the snark that gets posted in the Eagles thread by some Cowboys and other team fans. I do enjoy reading opposing viewpoints about football related topics though and welcome all posts in that regard, about my favorite team or others.

If any Cowboys fans want to lump me in with the snarky Eagles fans, be my guest. I do not think i am one of those but, others may differ in their opinion. So, if thats the case then I will avoid coming here and posting in the future. I will continue to still stop by to read what Cowboys fans are discussing regarding their team though. A teams fans are typically more knowledgeable than non-fans so there will still be nuggets of good information to be had. Same goes for any team dedicated thread.

Apologies, I just felt I needed to say that. Back to your regular programming.

I think a good rule of thumb is if nothing in your post gives away your own fandom, it's probably a quality post and good and welcome discussion.

Good to see this thread with some life. I really agree with @Instinctive on the above. Nothing that the Eagle fan was saying was offensive but it's like the neighbor kid who showed up to the birthday party he wasn't invited to... yeah, you're fine but why the f*** are you here?

Anyway, draft went well. I'm astonished at the pick for RB but not angry about it. Just, unsure if he can handle the workload. We needed an O-Line rebuild and needed help at EDGE... solid draft.

I'm still concerned about WR and RB but.. we will see. I'd rather have drafted Dylan Sampson, Jaylin Royals or Elic Ayomanor than picked up Jonathon Mingo but our owner is dumb enough to continue to staff a GM that hasn't been to a Conference Championship Game in 30 years.

If Dak will take A lot less money Id be OK with him. My sentiments exactly about his declining skill set. If he would run more he would be a weapon but he’s on the wrong side of 30. He also craps his pants in the moment.

This. I love talking with fans who can set aside the fandom for an impartial take on football. Even if it comes to the Cowboys- I can crap on them all day and be honest.

Anyone in this thread watch NCAA? Thoughts on the RB?

I looked at film. - Looks slow and fumbles but I always think the fumbles can be fixed. I like his size and IIRC, he can really catch well.

FWIW I don't think anyone mentioned feelings. It's more the obnoxious waste of my time when I click a thread excited to see some new discussion and find drek instead. Our boy Ruffrody here obviously isn't the problem.

If I were running the team:

We basically have to have him this year and next, 2027 we could cut but still painful. So I'm looking at 2-3 years of competing with a focus on the future. To me, this draft was a good step towards that. Other things I'd be doing: high draft capital on both lines, and ideally a WR and some CB depth (like revel!) along the way. If an offer with a lot of draft capital materialized for Parsons at any point I'd strongly consider it. I'm trying to build the perfect environment so when Dak's deal is up or cuttable, I can stick a rookie QB in there and be competitive right away, and if the guy is good, I'm set up to immediately contend for a SB. If my line is elite, I can use the rookie QB cap savings to pay for them, and I can draft with an eye to replacing them when its time to pay my QB again.

For now, that means late round and FA capital for RBs, focus on the OL and DL, and hire better coaches. I'm way more concerned with coaching than I am with Dak, and have been for...idk ten years?

As an aside, I don't buy the commercials thing LOL that's a bit ridiculous. The guy had one of the most gruesome ankle injuries I've ever seen and hasn't been as mobile since. I doubt that's because he sold some sleep number mattresses.

I have never heard of any of the FA rookies signed. Can any of them possibly make the team ?
Except for a few outlier players, I see all draft picks after the 5th round and all UDFA players to be cannon fodder for camp.
To expound on this, I looked up the compensatory picks for each round of this years draft:

Round 3: 6 compensatory picks
Round 4: 4
Round 5: 8
Round 6: 8
Round 7: 9

That is essentially an extra round of draft picks. THEN they sign the folks not drafted. It takes some doing to look up the performance of UDFA's, but looking at the playing time and performance of those drafted in the 6th, 7th, and the 'unofficial' 8th round isn't pretty.

I’d say Dotson has the inside track to be WR2 this year, just based on how much trust the staff seems to have in him. But honestly, I’d want to see McCaffrey earn that spot if he keeps showing out in came, just feels like he brings a different kind of energy

Who do you guys think will be WR2 this year?
Who do you guys want to be WR2 this year?
Tolbert.
I think they should bring in Amari Cooper or Keenan Allen.
Cooper seems he like the logical choice, so that will probably never happen. I would like to see them sign URFA Bond depending on his personal situation. I think he could be just as good as Tolbert.
I was told Cooper was let go back in the day b/c he wasn't a fit in the locker room, so maybe time heals all wounds?

Tolbert sure seems like the logical choice though, he looked decent in moments last year.

No thanks on Cooper. No real desire to watch him potentially play well all year and then disappear in the tough and/or cold games.

Hes a complainer.

George Pickens to Dallas ?

If it involves draft picks it is Interesting timing since it will not involve 2025 picks.

Sounds like a third rounder. Hey, when you give a fourth for Mingo, I guess Pickens is worth a third.

That Mingo trade is an all-time head-scratcher…it will never make sense.

This is an interesting deal…I am not a Pickens fan but this seems like a really nice fit…Lamb and Pickens is a serious 1-2 punch if Pickens can keep his head on straight…the x-factor is the contract…do you pay Pickens now or wait a year…either way is risky…if you pay him now and he is an issue you will regret it…if you wait a year and he lights it up I don’t see him giving any discounts…gonna be really interesting to watch this unfold.

This is pure speculation, but I would say it's built upon some very concrete history of seeing/hearing Pickens for the past three years; does anyone really think they are getting a discount/great price on him even if he's signed this year instead of next? Where do we honestly think Pickens is rating himself amongst other NFL wide receivers with regards to a contract? Feels like it will be a headache either way IMO. Should be interesting at least as he shares an agent with Micah Parsons, who is also seeking a new deal.
