Dan Synder is a total scumbag, and Deadspin has the proof (1 Viewer)

Whoa - there was joint custody of the land? And they failed to conduct environmental impact studies, AND ignored park horticulture specialists. Sounds like there's way too much time and money spent administering this piece of land.

 
It's trees, just plant some new ones somewhere else. The existence of federally protected trees on land that is privately owned is proof that the libertarians are correct and that government is officially too big.

Snyder is a jerk, it is known. A cousin worked for the skins for a while and The stories I've heard would blow your mind. "Don't make eye contact with Mr. Snyder", "if Mr. Snyder enters the gym, you must stop your workout and exit the gym." The guy is the definition of jerk. It is known.

Then people should give him the stink-eye when he gets to the gym and continue working out. Part of the reason he's a Dbag is people capitulate to him. He drops logs in the toilet same as the rest of us.

Asking for permission was irrelevant. He knew they were off limits when he bought the property and never had any intention of leaving them up.

 
Personally I love the original piece. It reads so even handed. Within 2 sentences he's whining about the offensive team name, he spends a page and a half whining about the Bush administration and how evil they are. He mostly glosses over the fact that Obama did nothing for this guy in almost 2 years and that he never got his actual position back under them either.

I wonder who this guy voted for.

I'm a lifelong Skins fan. Snyder's a complete ****. There's no arguing it. He also was completely wrong in this situation.

What I'm trying to figure out is why this is (again) some sort of revelation given that this all happened a decade ago and was widely reported at the time, at least in local publications such as the Washington Post (maybe you've heard of it).

Because we live in a world where people do witch hunts. There's pressure on Snyder to change the team name, he doesn't and the pressure fades away. So, find something else bad about Snyder.

Similar to what's going on with Duck Dynasty. The father makes some stupid comments in GQ, people call for the show to be canceled. When that doesn't happen, they find point to some video of him that's been around for years, even before the show existed, making other stupid comments.

In politics, you'll always hear reports that Candidate X once beat someone up in elementary school.

It's pretty childish behavior really.

Word on the street is that he couldn't say oakey dokey fast enough when the deal was offered. Sounds like he bamboozled his way into getting his view while making an complete ash of himself. One thing is certain, he isn't very poplar with the ranger. That bum's reputation is in desperate need of sprucing up.

There's some merit to this. Asking for permission is where all the trouble started. If I had Snyder money I'd just hire a team of ninjas to remove the trees silently in the middle of the night and then act like I was outraged.

The tree cutting might have been ten years ago. But it looks like the ranger dude was being jerked around up until last year.

That was the first version of the story that went around when it happened, iirc. That he knew it was a condition of owning the property and just did it anyway, figuring nobody could put the toothpaste back in the tube and he'd just pay whatever fines came his way. Turns out it was actually worse.

 
Guess he is branching out and finding new ways to alienate people.

If this is an old story, wider recognition took place at a lumbering clip.

See, there wouldn't have been a story if the ninjas do their job properly. Considering it became a story he looks way better for having asked permission. It looks more like an indictment of Obama at this point.

 
I think Dan Snyder oughta sue this Dan Synder guy for hurting his image. The case could be logged with the judiciary branch.
