I've been moving along slowly too. I've just been binging. I think I've got 15 hours played already -- I would check, but my daughter and her little buddy just kicked me off the big screen so they could watch netflix. Stupid kids.Me too. I felt like I was falling behind reading everyone's posts. I will say I often feel like I get punished for going slow and building my character as I feel like I get invaded more.
I'm finding that the regular run of the mill enemies are really tough. Those basket carrying dudes are tough as hell. The Lotric Knights were giving me a lot of trouble as well.
Toughest enemy I've encountered so far is the fat priestess ladies which you've encountered by now. They seem to be un-staggerable once they decide that they're going to attack, and they hit hard as hell. So far, the bosses have been pushovers compared to just getting through the level, which is actually how I prefer it. I'm sure the bosses are going to pick up though. It seems like in most of these games, the majority of bosses are pretty easy, and then they through and Ornstein & Smough at you.
One complaint. I've beaten five bosses (counting the tutorial boss), and I'll I've been able to do in terms of upgrading is a Fire Broadsword +3, a Deep Scythe +2, and Pyromancy Flame +3. That's it. By this time in previous titles, I've had high-priority items up to +5 or +6, and it was always trivial to get anything I wanted up to +3. But titanite in this game seems to be far less common than it used to be. I literally haven't seen a single large titanite shard yet. At this point, I'm starting to get nervous about upgrading anything because I don't want to waste any upgrade material. I really, really hope it starts raining titanite pretty soon.
