Darn Joe! (1 Viewer)

Where were you guys last night? Not all of us lock our lineups in at 1:00. I had Westy and Buchaulter in one league, and Ward and Maroney in another, and couldn't find anything here. ESPN was calling Ward out, NFL.com said he was in but wouldn't play much. and FBGs had nothing to say.

I win a lot of these things because I'm good at it, but also because Black Eyed Joe has my back. I know that you guys like to watch the games too, but I kind of feel like you left me hanging.

All of this news was available in advance of the games yesterday here on the forums. :excited:

According to the Eagles website, he is not playing...

Philadelphia Eagles
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- Philadelphia Eagles halfback Brian Westbrook, offensive tackle William Thomas, cornerback Lito Sheppard and safety Brian Dawkins were all inactive for Sunday night's game against the New York Giants.

Westbrook, who led the NFC in rushing with 291 yards after last week and was the conference's player of the week after gaining a combined 221 rushing and receiving against Detroit, was sidelined with a pulled abdominal muscle. He did not practice this week.

Dawkins was inactive for the second straight week with a neck injury, while Sheppard was out for the second straight week with a knee injury. Thomas sprained a knee last week.

Giants halfback Derrick Ward and receiver Plaxico Burress, who were questionable with ankle injuries, were both in the starting lineup.

A phone call would have been nice of course, but something posted in "breaking news" would have been just as helpful. We didn't even get an inactive list until 8:00.

IIRC, this was posted in the blogger, at the top under Featured Articles, for most of the day Sunday.

Eagles :: RB

Eagles RB Westbrook "Very Questionable"

John Clayton, ESPN

John Clayton of ESPN reports that the abdominal strain Philadelphia Eagles RB Brian Westbrook is suffering from puts him as "very questionable" for Sunday night's game against the Giants. More on this as the day progresses.

Most people don't catch that SeniorVBD. Drof is short for Drofgnal, and you are indeed on the right track.

I've been a Cheetsheets.com guy for many years, and this has always been the top place to be. That's why I was happy to jump in the first time that Joe asked for money. This is the first time that I can remember not being able to get what I needed from the subscriber content.

And Westy wasn't the problem. Other sites were reporting him out as early as 6:30. (I had Buchaulter) I was hung up on starting Ward or Maroney.

The game started at 8:15PM ET, only takes 15 seconds to change a player in your lineup!

And with Westy, I did substitute Buchaulter. The problem was Ward vs Maroney. Other sites gave me the Eagles information at 6:30.

I love the service here, and I love the information here. My question was, why does it end when the 4:00 game starts?

To your question, I don't think you serve youself well by having the expectation that you can count on one source for information.Think of it in Tiers. Footballguys is in the Randy Moss / TO tier of FF websites, but no receiver is perfect.

Been winning these things since before you were born Redman.

Just what does it say to you when "The Whiz" has a 90 minute jump on FBGs?

I check many sources, but I only pay for one.

And, by the way, Brady won it for me anyway.

I got that one. Didn't take long at all.

If you didn't manage to catch that you shouldn't be starting Westbrook before the game yesterday AND you had Buckhalter on your bench, maybe you're not as good at FF as you think you are? Westbrook being inactive was all over TV, these forums, the rest of the intarweb, fortune cookies, etc long before the game started.

Buckhalter -Westy was easy, and I made the move. The tough question, (in another league) was Ward or Maroney.

I just find it ironic that you post a complaint on the very message board that you could have gotten this information on but obviously failed to check. That doesn't seem to match up with your trophy case. :P

Should have checked the board...

WFAN is reporting Ward IS ACTIVE. Said previous reports were wrong.

Joe, maybe you can set up a mass text messaging system like the ones they're using on college campuses to send important announcements. Just a thought.

HTH.

Thanks SS. That's something I want to look at. There are a couple of ways to do it I think. Someone will have to help me with the tech terms but I know many phones are set up to recieve an email as a text message. Your phone "email" address is yournumber@verizon.net or whatever. If we had people sign up for our email delivery in that way, it would be a way to get the word out.Definitely some tweaks to look at.J

I really appreciate you jumping in personally Joe. My question was in regard to the subscriber content. I have lots of message boards that I can jump in to, but I only subscribe to one site. That site has always been FBGs.

After the week three blood bath, I'm sure that I was not the only one who had guys in both the Sunday night and the Monday night game to choose from. It would seem to me that choosing between Maroney and Ward would have been a pretty commen problem.

You already send out "breaking news" messages to subscribers. You also have a "breaking news" thread within the subscriber content. The problem wasn't that I couldn't get the news from you, but that no news was posted.

Rather than figuring out a new way to text message subscribers about breaking news, maybe someone just needs to work the second shift.

The inactive list was posted here for the NYG Sunday game.September 30, 2007, 19:53 ET

N.Y. Giants Inactives

Summary: QB Jared Lorenzen (3rd QB), QB Anthony Wright, RB Robert Douglas, RB Brandon Jacobs, T Adam Koets, DT Manuel Wright, CB Craig Dahl

As for the New England game thats 24 hours away, you didn't have much choice then!

I really liked that he got it too Tim. The cool thing is, that it is indeed a backwards play on my name. I've been using it for nearly 40 years in one form or another, and very few people ever see it.

You are correct in what you say Hellz. I was here. I did know that Ward would be dressing for the game. ESPN was reporting that he would play very little, if at all, NFL.com was saying that he would see "limited action" and FBGs was saying only that he was active.

It was a bad situation. I realize that. From about 4:00 until about 7:50, FBGs had nothing to say about anything though.

Thanks Dorf. We posted the Westbrook info on the Sunday update page but had a tech issue where it wasn't early enough for most. I think we have that figured out going forward. Thanks.J

Eh.........that's Drof, not Dorf Joe. I'm a bit touchy about that. I was on top of the Westy thing, and made the move in plenty of time. Ward-Maroney was my problem.

Cheetsheets.com has been my number one FF source since I started playing for money, and nothing at all has changed. I generally find out what everyone else has to say, and then come to you guys for the final word. Nothing has changed.

Thanks for the prompt reply

Drof
